Abstract

This journal discusses contemporary Islamic economic thought through an in-depth analysis of three key figures: Muhammad Nejatullah Siddiqi, Umer Chapra, and Syed Nawab Haidar Naqvi. Islamic economics, based on Sharia principles, offers an alternative to secular economic systems that often focus solely on material profit. Siddiqi emphasizes the importance of a fair and sustainable Islamic financial system, focusing on the fulfillment of individuals' basic needs, justice in production and distribution, and the implementation of zakat in public finance. Chapra, as a pioneer of Islamic economics, proposes a principle of freedom balanced with responsibility, as well as the importance of socioeconomic reconstruction to achieve welfare. Meanwhile, Naqvi highlights the role of government in ensuring distributive justice and the elimination of riba. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, this research provides insights into the contributions of these three thinkers to the development of Islamic economic theory in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This article examines the integration between the text of revelation and ecological phenomena through a scientific interpretation approach, focusing on the case of floods in Cimuncang, Serang, Banten. This research is motivated by the increasing frequency of ecological disasters that require a rereading of the verses of the Qur'an contextually and based on field data. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study combines the analysis of ecological verses in the Qur'an with empirical data from observations, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation in the affected areas. The approach of scientific interpretation is applied systematically through four methodological stages: integrative conception, the main provisions of interpretation, theoretical and technical principles, and the selection of relevant methods. The results of the study show that the Cimuncang flood is the result of structural violations of the ecological principles mentioned in the Qur'an, such as the caliphate's mandate, balance (mīzān), and the prohibition of fasād. Geographic vulnerability is also a cause of flooding. In this situation, the interpretation of science not only adds to the hermeneutic insights of the Qur'an, but also offers a transformational paradigm that connects Islamic science and environmental science. As an ethical-spiritual foundation for formulating sustainable development policies and ecological disaster mitigation, locality-based, participatory, and systemic interpretations are needed. Therefore, scientific interpretation not only serves as a tool of interpretation but also as an epistemological strategy to respond to the complexity of the world's environmental crisis.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Islamic legal foundations (shar‘i) of economic activities based on the Qur'an and the Hadith. Islam, as a comprehensive religion, governs all aspects of life, including economics, emphasizing spiritual values, ethics, and justice. Utilizing a qualitative approach through literature review, this research identifies core concepts of Islamic economics such as production, distribution, and consumption, all grounded in the principles of monotheism (tawhid), human responsibility as stewards (khalifah), and justice. The study further examines the application of key principles such as public interest (maslahah), mutual consent (ridha), blessing (barakah), and transparency in economic transactions, as well as prohibitions on usury (riba), uncertainty (gharar), gambling (maysir), hoarding (ihtikar), and trade of unlawful goods. The findings demonstrate that Islamic economic activity is not merely a worldly necessity but also a form of worship aimed at achieving. By adhering to these shar‘i principles, Islamic economics offers a just, sustainable, and welfare-oriented system for society as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the role of ushul al-tafsir (the fundamental principles of Qur’anic exegesis) in shaping an interdisciplinary interpretative framework that is responsive to the challenges and needs of the modern era. Its main objective is to demonstrate how ushul al-tafsir can serve as a strong methodological foundation for integrating various disciplines in the interpretation of the Qur’an. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were obtained from classical and contemporary literature on ushul al-tafsir as well as modern interdisciplinary tafsir works. The analysis is conducted descriptively and analytically to identify the relevance and contribution of ushul al-tafsir to the development of crossdisciplinary interpretative methods, including social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences. The study finds that ushul al-tafsir provides a solid normative-methodological framework for addressing epistemological developments in tafsir. Ushul al-tafsir functions as a filter and guide in integrating contemporary sciences into the interpretative process without losing the authenticity of the Qur’anic message. By maintaining the classical fundamental principles of tafsir while remaining open to other scientific approaches, ushul al-tafsir can bridge the revealed text and the socio-modern context. This opens opportunities for the emergence of interpretations that are more contextual, solution-oriented, and adaptive to the developments of the times without deviating from the scientific integrity of Islamic knowledge.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of divine wisdom in the Qur'an with modern scientific findings regarding pregnancy and childbirth, focusing on Surah Al-Ahqâf verse 15. The research aims to analyze the Qur'anic descriptions of pregnancy duration and maternal struggles, correlating them with contemporary embryology and medical science. Using a qualitative method with thematic tafsir (interpretation) analysis, the study examines classical and modern exegeses, such as Tafsir Al-Misbah and Fi Zhilal Al-Qur'an, alongside scientific literature on fetal development and maternal health. The findings reveal a profound alignment between Qur'anic insights and scientific evidence, particularly in the stages of pregnancy, physical and emotional challenges faced by mothers, and the total duration of pregnancy and breastfeeding (30 months). The study underscores the Qur'an's miraculous accuracy in describing biological processes and highlights the ethical imperative to honor maternal sacrifices.

Abstract

This research explores the theme of gender justice in the Qur'an by focusing on Nashr Hamid Abu Zayd's perspective on the analysis of polygamy verses. In this context, the research utilises the literature review method to investigate Abu Zayd's views on the fair treatment of wives in polygamous practices. The article details Abu Zayd's arguments and interpretations, highlighting the controversial aspects of understanding the verses. By approaching this topic through the library research method, this study aims to contribute to the literature that explores the concept of gender justice in Islam. The results are expected to open a space for dialogue and a deeper understanding of gender roles in Qur'anic interpretation, especially in the context of the dynamics of modern society. This research also emphasizes the importance of contextualizing Quranic verses on polygamy within modern social realities. It advocates for interpretations that prioritize justice, equity, and the dignity of all parties involved. Such an approach fosters a more balanced understanding that aligns with contemporary values while respecting traditional teachings. Ultimately, this study supports progressive dialogue and reinterpretation in Islamic gender discussions, promoting harmony and fairness in marital relationships.

Abstract

Important ideas in Islam that support the veracity and divinity of Islamic teachings include Ijaz Al-Qur'an and Its Aspects. Ijaz Al-Qur'an alludes to the Qur'an's miraculous qualities, which demonstrate that Allah SWT revealed the sacred book of Islam rather than it being a human invention. The Qur'anic language's beauty and distinctiveness, its content's coherence and harmony despite being revealed over a 23-year period, and the historical and scientific facts that have been validated by contemporary scientific findings are the primary features of Ijaz. Even those who question the authenticity of the Qur'an are challenged by it to create a single surah that is comparable to it; this challenge has not yet been fulfilled. Keywords:  I’jaz, Miracle, Aspects, Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

Hijamah, or wet cupping therapy, is a well-known medical practice deeply rooted in Islamic tradition, with profound historical origins in the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Research on hijamah often integrates both medical and spiritual aspects, and in this context, the exploration of hadith plays a crucial role in understanding the practice's foundation and legitimacy. This study aims to explore the hadiths and the Qur'an related to hijamah, and to analyze their relevance and application in the context of modern medicine. The hadiths discussing hijamah include recommendations and praise for this practice, as reported in various hadith collections such as Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. This research employs a qualitative approach using thematic hadith analysis and grounded theory. The analysis results indicate that hijamah receives significant recognition in Islamic tradition as a recommended therapeutic practice, with many hadiths reflecting its blessings and efficacy. This study concludes that while there is a strong basis for hijamah in Islamic tradition, further research is needed to assess the suitability of this practice within the context of modern medicine. The exploration of hadith and the Qur'an provides important insights into the historical and spiritual perspectives of hijamah, but integration with objective medical research is key to scientifically validating its benefits. The findings of this study are expected to provide insights into how Islam utilizes this cupping therapy and how a Muslim should approach it. The research findings can serve as a moral guide and teach the importance of balance, cleanliness, and commitment to religious teachings, all of which contribute to achieving a social status aligned with Islamic values.

Abstract

Humans, who are actually the most perfect created creatures, apparently have such complex meanings. Humans tend to be interpreted as social, psychological and biological creatures or even a combination of these things. The aim of this article is to study and explore the concept of humans as An-Nas in the Al-Qur'an. This research uses the literature review method with various sources and analysis used and the Maudhu'i interpretation method by interpreting the Al-Qur'an by collecting several verses that have the same theme and then interpreting them in detail. The writing results show (1) Lafadz An-Nas is mentioned in the Qur'an 251 times which is spread in 86 forms with the same writing model, namely An-Nas. (2) The context of the meaning of the lafadz An-Nas in the Qur'an is generally divided into three, namely showing social groups with their distinctive characteristics, some humans have low qualities, and humans are meant socially, not just individuals.
