Abstract

The Qur'an, as a guide for the lives of Muslims, must be implemented in daily life. However, because the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic—a language not understood by everyone—Muslims are required to study the sciences that aim to comprehend the meaning of the Qur'an, namely translation (terjemah), exegesis (tafsir), and interpretation (ta'wil). Due to the various opinions on these subjects, it is essential to focus on the perspectives of one or two scholars. The purpose of this research is to understand the concepts of translation, exegesis, and interpretation according to Abdul Azim Al-Zarqani and Manna' Khalil Al-Qattan, and then compare their views to identify similarities and differences. The research method used is qualitative with a comparative study approach. Data collection was conducted using documentation techniques. The data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, as well as verification and conclusion. The results of the study show three similarities and four differences in the concept of translation, as well as two similarities and one difference in the concepts of exegesis and interpretation, as understood by Abdul Azim Al-Zarqani and Manna' Khalil Al-Qattan.

Abstract

This study examines the perceptions of Mathematics Education students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta regarding the relationship between mathematical concepts and spiritual values contained in the Qur'an. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used to explore students' in-depth understanding through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that most students viewed order, symmetry, and logic in mathematics as a representation of God's greatness. However, some students still doubt this relationship, mainly due to the lack of relevant teaching materials and in-depth teaching approaches. Factors that influence students' perceptions include religious background, lecturers' teaching strategies, availability of teaching materials, and previous learning experiences. In addition to providing new insights into the relationship between science and religion, this study revealed that the integration of Islamic values in mathematics learning can improve students' learning motivation and spiritual character building.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the writing of Al-Qur'an manuscripts after the era of the Khulafa al-Rasyidin as part of the historical development of the Qur'an. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature analysis, drawing from linguistic books, academic journals, and other scholarly sources using a historical framework. The primary objective is to explore the early refinements in Qur'anic writing and the different forms of script that emerged after the Khulafa al-Rasyidin.  The results of the analysis show that 1) The introduction of diacritical marks and vowelization in the Qur'an after the Khulafa al-Rasyidin was driven by the increasing number of non-Arab Muslims and the expansion of Islamic territories. Additionally, the directive from Governor Ziyad bin Abihi to Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali played a crucial role in initiating the addition of vowels and dots to the Qur'anic script to prevent mispronunciations. 2) There were two primary developments in the writing of the Qur'an after the Khulafa al-Rasyidin. The first was the introduction of vowel markings (Nuqath al-I'rab) by Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali, which was later refined by al-Khalil bin Ahmad al-Farahidi (d. 170 AH) by modifying the shape of the vowel marks. The second was the introduction of diacritical dots (Nuqath al-I'jam), with Nahsr bin 'Ashim and Yahya bin Ya'mar being credited for reviving this tradition to differentiate letters with similar shapes. This process led to the development of the al-Ihmal and al-I'jam methods.

Abstract

The epistemology of interpretation is a branch of science that aims to answer questions based on the theory of applied science about interpretation itself. The Book of Tafsir Fii Zhilalil Quran by Sayyid Qutb is one of the tafsir that was born in contemporary times using the tahlili method and has an al-adabi al-ijtimā'i pattern. This study aims to understand Sayyid Qutb's interpretive epistemology in interpreting the Koran in his work Tafsir Fii Zhilalil Koran. How can someone assess the validity of an interpretation based on epistemic rules? This research uses a qualitative approach and library research and examines both primary and secondary sources to descriptively analyze the biography of Sayyid Qutb, the epistemology of interpretation, the advantages and disadvantages of Fii Zhilalil's interpretation of the Qur'an. This research shows that this tafsir book attempts to provide a comprehensive interpretation of each text of the Qur'an in accordance with the orderly sequence of the mushaf. So this book of tafsir makes a contribution based on al-adabi al-ijtimā'i's style of interpretation, usually explaining several phenomena related to social and cultural developments at that time and providing solutions on how to overcome the social problems being faced by Muslims.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas penerapan metode storytelling dalam pembelajaran di Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ) Al-Ja’far, Kabupaten Manokwari, oleh mahasiswi IAIN Sorong. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman dan minat belajar anak-anak dalam mempelajari Al-Qur’an dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode observasi dan wawancara terhadap pengelola TPQ serta para santri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan storytelling memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa serta pemahaman mereka terhadap materi yang disampaikan.

Abstract

Menghafal Al-Qur’an jadi kegiatan mulia bagi umat Islam. Banyak sekolah dan pesantren yang menyelenggarakan program hafalan Al-Qur’an. Salah satunya yaitu SDIT Ar-Ruhul Jadid. Begitu banyak tantangan yang harus dihadapi para penghafal Al- Qur'an untuk menjadi penghafal Al-Qur'an yang berhasil, mereka memliki banyak pertimbangan untuk memutuskan menjadi penghafal Al-Qur'an. Berbagai tantangan juga dihadapi para penghafal Al-Qur’an. Untuk mengatasi masalah hafalan siswa, SDIT Ar-Ruhul Jadid melakukan berbagai strategi dan upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas hafalan peserta didik. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode menghafal Al-Qur’an yang digunakan di SDIT Ar-Ruhul Jadid Jombang adalah Bin- Nazhar, Talaqqi, Takrir, Tasmi dan Muroja’ah.  Cara mengatasi hambatan menghafal Al-Qur’an di SDIT Ar-Ruhul Jadid Jombang diantara dengan memaksa diri untuk tetap mengaji, belajar membagi waktu dengan cara membuat jadwal harian, mendengarkan murottal Al-Qur’an dan menggunakan bantuan Al-Qur’an portable di saat menambah dan juga menjaga hafalan, mengoperasikan handphone dan laptop seperlunya saja.

Abstract

The development of technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated, which has influenced life and brought convenience to social life, including gambling practices in society. In the past it was done by gathering in one place to do it, now it can be done anywhere and anytime by using a mobile phone. Although the Qur'an explicitly forbids gambling, it cannot be denied that gambling also brings benefits to its perpetrators. This has been explained in the Qur'an that gambling has benefits but also has more mudhorat. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the development of gambling from time to time and its classification as well as how the interpretation of the scholars of tafsir in answering verses that are difficult to understand textually by the community on the verse of the Qur'an that discusses gambling. The research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach by collecting various studies on gambling to find out which are included in gambling as well as the true meaning of Surah Al-Baqarah verse 219 and Al-Maidah verse 19 in answering problems in society.

Abstract

Starting from the background of gender issues in the study of modern interpretation, verses that are understood as textual give rise to gender bias and trigger a long debate between patriarchs and feminists. This paper aims to unravel Amina Wadud's interpretation in terms of her thoughts and interpretation methodology used to understand the messages in the Qur'an. By using a qualitative research type with a descriptive approach method, this study reveals a deeper meaning that patriarchal bias must be abolished and replaced with the concept of gender equality where women also have the same rights as men. The results of the study show that Amina Wadud does not only carry out textual interpretation of verses, but assesses several views from classical interpretation, including, first, QS. Al-Baqarah 228, the explicit content of this verse is equality that is built on mutual agreement by considering the principles of mas'uliyah. Second, QS. Al Nisa: 36, regarding polygamy which includes three contexts, namely: economic context, reproductive context, and biological context. Then QS. An-Nisa: 34, that men and women are equal in all respects according to their respective portions.

Abstract

Happiness is a state of mind or feeling of pleasure and peace in life, both physically and spiritually, which serves to enhance self-vision. In Islam, happiness is not only about worldly matters but also about life after death. As the Messenger of Allah and the narrator of hadiths, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) provides profound insights into how humans can achieve true and eternal happiness. His hadiths not only serve as a source of law and practical guidance for the daily lives of Muslims but also as moral and spiritual guidance touching on various aspects of life, enabling a Muslim to attain happiness in both this world and the hereafter. This study aims to identify and understand the factors that influence happiness based on hadiths. The discussion explores the concept of happiness, its causes, and how to achieve it. The method used in this study is a contemporary thematic analysis of hadiths. The study concludes that it is essential for individuals to know and understand everything that leads to happiness.

Abstract

This study examines qashash al-Qur’an as part of the Qur’anic narrative that carries historical and educational values. The primary objective is to explore the characteristics, purposes, and relevance of Qur’anic stories from the perspective of ulumul Qur'an. This research employs a qualitative approach based on literature reviews, analyzing credible references, including books, scientific journals, and other academic sources. The findings reveal that qashash al-Qur’an is unique in its fragmentary, anonymous, and repetitive presentation, emphasizing profound moral messages. Furthermore, these stories serve not only as historical narratives but also as ethical guidance and a reinforcement of faith. The repetition of stories in the Qur’an reflects the beauty of its balaghah and the miraculous nature of divine revelation. These findings affirm that the Qur’anic stories are not fictional but divine revelations that remain relevant across eras. This study aims to enhance the understanding of Muslims regarding the Qur’anic values and serves as a foundation for further research on qashash al-Qur’an.
