Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of a competency-based training policy and its effect on employee performance at the Health Office of North Nias Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, primary data were gathered through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document review involving managerial and operational staff. Analysis followed an interactive model of data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that competency-based training has positively influenced technical skills, job knowledge, motivation, work discipline, task execution, and responsibility in public service delivery. Nevertheless, the implementation is constrained by limited training budgets, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, unequal training opportunities, insufficient post-training evaluation and follow-up, and heavy operational workloads that reduce training participation. The study concludes that competency-based training contributes to improved employee performance when supported by comprehensive planning, sufficient resources, systematic evaluation, and institutional commitment. Recommendations include strengthening budgetary allocations, upgrading training facilities, implementing structured post-training evaluation, and aligning training programs more closely with job-specific competency needs.

Abstract

This article aims to review the research conducted by Corina Pacher and Martin Glinik from Graz University of Technology, which presents an educational toolkit designed to integrate entrepreneurship education into higher education institutions (HEIs) within Deep Tech-related disciplines. The article employs a critical review method. The work addresses the crucial gap between theoretical knowledge and the practical application of entrepreneurial competencies among engineering students, academic staff, and non-academic personnel. While the paper engages with an increasingly relevant topic and proposes a hands-on pedagogical solution, it demonstrates significant limitations in methodological rigor, empirical validation, and theoretical depth, which substantially reduce its contribution to international scholarship.

The sample size utilised in this study comprises 94 respondents, with the sampling method employing a census approach, whereby the entire population is considered as the sample. The data analysis technique employed is multiple linear regression analysis, alongside the T-test, with data processed using Stata 17. The type of data in this study is quantitative, and the data source is primary data. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it was found that financial literacy and pocket money have a positive effect on personal financial management, where financial knowledge and economic resources improve financial management skills. Meanwhile, self-control has no positive effect on personal financial management among students of the Higher Education Affirmative Program from Papua in West Sumatra. The results of this study encourage universities in West Sumatra, as well as the Papuan regional government and the Ministry to integrate programs such as digital-based workshops to maximize pocket money, allocate pocket funds to reduce the risk of waste, and discussions among Papuan students to share financial experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how firm size affects the effective tax rate (ETR) of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Using additional data from 54 businesses in the food and beverage subsector for the 2024 period, a quantitative research methodology was employed. Using SPSS software, basic linear regression was used to analyze the data. The analysis results indicate that firm size negatively impacts the effective tax rate; however, this effect is not statistically significant, with a significance value of 0.010 (>0.05). Only 12.2% of the variation in the effective tax rate can be explained by firm size, while the remainder is influenced by factors outside the model, based on a coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.122. The study results indicate that the effective tax rate paid decreases with firm size, although this is not statistically significant. This finding is consistent with several previous studies that concluded that the ETR is not significantly affected by firm size. Thus, it can be concluded that the effective tax rate for manufacturing companies in the Indonesian food and beverage subsector is not primarily determined by firm size.
