Abstract

This article examines effective strategies for improving reading comprehension in english, particularly for beginner learners. Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill that enables English language learners to acquire information and communicate effectively. The article highlights the challenges faced by beginner learners, such as limited vocabulary, difficulty with complex grammar, lack of background knowledge, and problems with inferring meaning. Through a literature review, the article identifies and categorizes various proposed and tested strategies to improve reading comprehension, highlighting their effectiveness and applicability in different educational contexts. The purpose of the article is to present how these strategies can be applied in the context of beginner learning. Findings indicate that interactive reading methods, vocabulary development, prior knowledge activation, and reading fluency training is profoundly influences reading comprehension and combination of these strategies can significantly improve reading comprehension skills, providing valuable insights for educators and learners, which in turn can improve their academic, professional, and social participation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji integrasi filsafat progresivisme dan nilai-nilai Islam dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) sebagai upaya meningkatkan keterampilan 4C (Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication, Collaboration) peserta didik di era abad 21. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis literatur, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konsep progresivisme dan relevansinya dengan pembelajaran PAI, menganalisis nilai-nilai Islam yang mendukung pengembangan keterampilan 4C, serta menjelaskan strategi integrasi keduanya dalam praktik pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya keselarasan antara prinsip-prinsip progresivisme seperti pembelajaran aktif, experiential learning, dan pendidikan demokratis dengan nilai-nilai Islam seperti tafakkur, tadabbur, shura, dan ukhuwwah. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi lima strategi integrasi yang efektif, meliputi: (1) pembelajaran berbasis proyek dengan nilai Islam; (2) pembelajaran berbasis diskusi dan dialog; (3) pembelajaran reflektif; (4) pembelajaran berbasis pemecahan masalah; dan (5) pembelajaran kolaboratif dengan penguatan nilai Islam. Transformasi peran guru PAI menjadi fasilitator, teladan nilai, dan penghubung tradisi-modernitas merupakan faktor kunci dalam keberhasilan integrasi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi progresivisme dan nilai-nilai Islam dalam pembelajaran PAI dapat menciptakan model pendidikan yang tidak hanya mengembangkan keterampilan 4C peserta didik untuk menghadapi tantangan global, tetapi juga memperkuat fondasi moral dan spiritual yang berakar pada nilai-nilai keislaman.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi prinsip-prinsip pengembangan kurikulum Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya, dan merumuskan rekomendasi pengembangan kurikulum PAI yang adaptif dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan zaman. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif yang melibatkan 30 guru PAI di berbagai jenjang pendidikan di Kabupaten Agam, Sumatera Barat. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner berisi 50 pernyataan dengan skala Likert 5 poin dan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketujuh prinsip pengembangan kurikulum PAI (relevansi, fleksibilitas, kontinuitas, efisiensi & efektivitas, berorientasi tujuan, integrasi, dan kesesuaian perkembangan) dipersepsikan sangat tinggi oleh responden dengan persentase berkisar 85,3%-90,0%. Prinsip berorientasi tujuan memperoleh persentase tertinggi (90,0%), diikuti prinsip integrasi (89,6%) dan relevansi (88,4%). Demikian pula, kedelapan faktor yang mempengaruhi pengembangan kurikulum PAI (filosofis, psikologis, sosial-budaya, IPTEK, kebijakan pendidikan, ekonomi, globalisasi, dan keagamaan) juga dipersepsikan sangat tinggi dengan persentase berkisar 85,3%-89,2%. Faktor kebijakan pendidikan menempati urutan tertinggi (89,2%), diikuti faktor IPTEK (88,9%) dan filosofis (88,4%). Penelitian ini mengungkap adanya keterkaitan erat antara prinsip-prinsip dan faktor-faktor pengembangan kurikulum PAI, yang menunjukkan pentingnya pendekatan holistik dalam pengembangan kurikulum PAI yang tidak hanya mempertimbangkan aspek teknis pendidikan, tetapi juga dimensi filosofis, psikologis, sosial-budaya, dan keagamaan.

Abstract

English language education at SD Negeri 104267 Pegajahan emphasizes the importance of mastering question words such as “what,” “who,” “where,” “when,” “why,” and “how,” which form the basis for students' communication skills. This study aims to analyze the teaching strategies used by teachers and the challenges faced during the learning process. The method applied is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through in-depth interviews and literature review. The results of the study indicate that contextual and interactive teaching methods are effective in improving students' understanding of the use of question words. However, challenges remain, such as limited learning time and differences in students' abilities. It is hoped that teachers can integrate technology and implement project-based learning to increase students' motivation and engagement. With continued support, it is hoped that students will be able to communicate with greater confidence and effectiveness and be motivated to continue learning English in the future.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran Everyone Is a Teacher Here terhadap kemampuan literasi membaca siswa kelas IV UPT SPF SD Negeri Tidung Makassar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-experiment bentuk nonequivalent control group design. Sampel terdiri dari 44 siswa, dibagi ke dalam kelas eksperimen (Dafodil) dan kelas kontrol (Daisy). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan pre-test dan posttest, lembar observasi, serta dokumentasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran Everyone Is a Teacher Here berdampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi membaca siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai probabilitas (0.000 < 0.05) dan nilai t hitung (6.262 > t tabel 2.018), sehingga disimpulkan bahwa strategi ini efektif diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi membaca.

Abstract

This study systematically investigates common mistakes in Indonesia-English translation, identifying specific linguistic and cultural pitfalls that compromise target text quality. Utilizing a qualitative, corpus-based approach, the research analyzes a diverse range of translated materials, including academic papers, journalistic articles, and official documents, to pinpoint recurring error patterns. The analysis focuses on four key areas: grammatical inaccuracies (subject-verb agreement, tense usage, article omission), lexical misinterpretations (semantic incongruity, false cognates, collocations), syntactic interference from the source language, and cultural misunderstandings leading to inappropriate pragmatic choices or mistranslation of idiomatic expressions. Findings reveal that while some errors stem from a direct, word-for-word translation approach, others are indicative of a deeper lack of target language competence and cross-cultural awareness. The prevalence of these errors highlights a critical gap in current translation practices, often resulting in texts that are not only grammatically flawed but also unnatural-sounding and potentially misleading to English native speakers. This paper argues that merely possessing bilingualism is insufficient for effective translation; rather, a profound understanding of both the source and target linguistic systems, coupled with a strong grasp of their respective cultural contexts, is imperative. The study concludes by offering pedagogical implications for translator training programs and proposes practical strategies to enhance translation quality, advocating for a more nuanced and context-sensitive approach to Indonesia-English translation.

Abstract

Kurikulum merupakan dasar utama dalam proses pendidikan dan menjadi landasan penyelenggaraan pembelajaran di berbagai jenjang. Dalam Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), kurikulum tidak hanya menyajikan materi, tetapi juga membentuk karakter dan spiritualitas peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-kualitatif dengan kajian pustaka untuk mengkaji konsep dasar kurikulum, fungsi, komponen, serta kaitannya dengan teori pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum terdiri dari tujuan, materi, metode, media, proses pembelajaran, dan evaluasi yang harus terpadu agar kompetensi tercapai. Kurikulum PAI memiliki fungsi adaptasi, integrasi, diferensiasi, persiapan, seleksi, dan diagnostik yang mendukung perkembangan holistik peserta didik. Penyusunan kurikulum dipengaruhi oleh teori pendidikan seperti rekonstruksionisme, progresivisme, dan esensialisme. Pemahaman hubungan kurikulum dan teori pendidikan penting agar kurikulum tetap relevan dan adaptif terhadap perubahan zaman serta kebutuhan peserta didik, guna meningkatkan mutu pendidikan, khususnya di bidang Pendidikan Agama Islam.

Abstract

The ability to comprehend reading materials is one of the key components in the learning process, as it directly affects students' mastery of various academic subjects. In the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education, reading comprehension is not only important as a fundamental skill but also serves as a foundation for developing other language skills such as writing, speaking, and listening. However, many students still encounter difficulties in understanding English texts. These problems are often caused by several factors, including limited vocabulary, low motivation and interest in reading, as well as monotonous and unvaried teaching methods.This study aims to describe and analyze effective strategies for improving students’ reading comprehension skills through a literature review using a descriptive qualitative approach. By examining various scholarly sources and previous research, it was found that reading techniques such as skimming (reading quickly to grasp the main idea) and scanning (reading to locate specific information) are proven to be effective in improving reading efficiency. In addition, the application of cognitive and metacognitive strategies such as predicting text content, generating questions before and during reading, summarizing important information, making inferences from context, visualizing text, and monitoring comprehension consciously, have shown significant positive impacts on students’ reading comprehension abilities.Furthermore, the effectiveness of reading strategies is also influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include individual learning styles, interest in reading, and student motivation. Meanwhile, external factors consist of the learning environment, the role of teachers in the classroom, and the teaching methods and media used. The combination of these factors determines the extent to which reading strategies can be optimally applied and produce maximal results. By implementing appropriate and varied reading strategies, students are not only able to understand reading content more deeply but also develop into active, reflective, and critical readers. They become better prepared to engage with different types of texts, both in academic contexts and daily life. Therefore, it is crucial for educators to understand the characteristics and learning needs of their students and integrate various relevant strategies and approaches into their teaching process. Teacher support through innovative and interactive instruction plays a vital role in promoting students’ academic success, particularly in reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

Pendidikan di era transformasi digital memerlukan perubahan dari pendekatan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru menjadi berpusat pada siswa. Tantangan utama adalah tidak hanya mentransfer pengetahuan, tetapi juga menumbuhkan motivasi belajar siswa dan mengembangkan karakter serta kompetensi era transformasi seperti kolaborasi dan berpikir kritis. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan objek penelitian atau hasil penelitian. penelitian ini akan menggunakan google form untuk kuesioner yang akan dibuat dan disebarkan kepada calon responden yang akan menjadi data penelitian ini dan terkumpul sebanyak 138 sample. Berdasarkan hasil uji penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Project-Based Learning (PjBL) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Motivasi belajar siswa, Model Pembelaran Project Based Learning (PjBL) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap P5, Kreativitas guru berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa, Kreativitas Guru berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap P5, dan P5 berpengaruh positif namun tidak signifikan terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa.

Abstract

This article discusses the dynamics of ijtihad and school of thought in the development of Islamic law through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates religious, social, and legal aspects. Using qualitative methods with literature review, this study explores the importance of ijtihad that combines revelation, rationality, and critical philosophy in an open and inclusive manner. The results show the need to show the adaptation of ijtihad to socio-cultural changes and the importance of renewal in school of thought in order to answer the global challenges of the Muslim community.
