Abstract

This study aims to compare the learning outcomes of IPAS students using two forms of formative tests, namely written formative tests and oral formative tests, among fifth-grade students at SDN Benteng Jampea No. 56, Kepulauan Selayar. This research employs a quantitative approach with a simple experimental method. The subjects of the study were fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out thru the administration of two forms of formative tests, observation, and learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to determine the difference in the impact of the two forms of formative tests on students' learning outcomes. The research results showed that both forms of formative tests had a positive impact on students' IPAS learning outcomes, but the written formative test showed more effective results compared to the oral formative test. This was evident from the difference in the average learning outcomes of students after the implementation of the two forms of tests. In addition, students became more active, motivated, and found it easier to understand the learning material during the learning process. Based on the data analysis results, it was found that there is a significant difference between the use of written formative tests and oral formative tests on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in IPAS at SDN Benteng Jampea No. 56, Selayar Islands. Thus, both forms of formative tests can be used as learning evaluation strategies, but written formative tests are more effective in improving the learning outcomes of elementary school students in IPAS.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program in elementary schools in the Selayar Islands. The focus of the research includes aspects of planning, implementation, supporting facilities, participation of school community members, and the impact of the program on improving the literacy culture of students. The research uses a descriptive evaluative approach with the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The research subjects consisted of school principals, teachers, and students from several elementary schools in the Selayar Islands. Data collection techniques were carried out thru observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively to obtain a comprehensive picture of the program's effectiveness. The research results show that the implementation of the School Literacy Movement in elementary schools in the Selayar Islands has been quite successful, especially in the activity of reading for 15 minutes before lessons begin. The support of the principal and teachers has been the main factor in the program's success. However, several obstacles are still found, such as limited reading collections, inadequate library facilities, low parental involvement, and suboptimal use of digital literacy media. From the aspect of results, the GLS program has a positive impact on students' reading interest, reading comprehension skills, and reading habits, although the improvement is not yet uniform across all schools. Based on the evaluation results, there is a need to improve literacy facilities, strengthen collaboration between schools and parents, and provide ongoing training for teachers in the development of innovative literacy activities. Thus, the School Literacy Movement Program in the Selayar Islands is expected to build a sustainable literacy culture and improve the quality of primary education.

Abstract

Debates on Islamic tolerance continue to turn on the relation between doctrinal conviction, freedom of conscience, and public coexistence in plural societies. This article examines how Muḥammad ʿImārah’s Al-Samāḥah al-Islāmiyyah constructs Islamic tolerance as coexistence ethics. Using directed qualitative content analysis, the study analyzes textual units concerning Qur'anic non-coercion, the Medina Charter, the Najran Covenant, historical coexistence, and critiques of coercive exclusivism. The analysis shows that ʿImārah organizes tolerance through four interrelated categories: theological non-coercion, constitutional pluralism, active protection of religious communities, and historical participation in Islamic civilization. Its contribution lies in reading Al-Samāḥah al-Islāmiyyah as a unified textual construction that links faith, law, citizenship, protection, and participation. Indonesia is used only as a theoretical context for discussing the relevance of these categories to religious moderation and national coexistence, not as an empirical field site. The article argues that al-samāḥah can function as an Islamic ethical-political vocabulary for defending religious freedom, inclusive citizenship, minority protection, and interfaith solidarity in plural societies.

Abstract

The scientific reasoning ability of elementary school students still needs to be improved, particularly in understanding cause-and-effect relationships, making predictions, and drawing conclusions based on observational results. This problem was identified in science learning on the topic of forces in Grade IV of SDN Taman Rahayu 04, where most students tended to memorize concepts without being able to explain phenomena logically. This study aims to develop STEAM-based Big Bergaya media as a learning medium capable of helping students understand the concept of forces while training their scientific reasoning skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The research subjects comprised 21 Grade IV students of SDN Taman Rahayu 04. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, observations, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest assessments. The results showed that the developed media had a very high validity level with CVR and CVI values of 1.00. The media also achieved a practicality level of 91.19%, categorized as very practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test results indicated an N-Gain value of 0.71 in the high category and Cohen's d effect size of 1.583. These findings indicate that STEAM-based Big Bergaya media is effective in improving students' scientific reasoning ability in elementary school science learning.

The results of the study indicate that the pedagogical competencies of non-Muslim teachers fall into the adequate to good category, particularly in the aspects of understanding students, planning, and implementing instruction. However, there are limitations in their mastery of religious subject matter and the practice of worship. The main challenges include limited understanding of the substance of Islamic Education (PAI), sensitivity to religious values, and a lack of specialized training. To address this issue, teachers and schools have implemented various measures, such as collaborating with teachers of other subjects, utilizing educational media, and providing institutional support. This study concludes that strong pedagogical competencies and adaptive strategies enable Islamic Education (PAI) instruction to remain effective even when taught by non-Muslim teachers. Therefore, strengthening competencies and policy support are necessary to maintain the quality of instruction within the context of limited resources.

Abstract

The rise of digitally mediated consumer culture has intensified concerns regarding adolescents’ moral-spiritual resilience, particularly within highly visual social media environments that continuously promote symbolic consumption and lifestyle comparison. Unlike previous Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) studies predominantly focused on psychopathological outcomes and problematic technology use, this study examines FoMO within the framework of moral-spiritual development and Islamic ethical values. The study aimed to analyze the relationships between social media fashion-related FoMO, self-control, and students’ zuhud values in Islamic junior secondary education. A quantitative correlational design was employed involving 70 eighth-grade students of MTs Ma’arif NU 2 Cilongok selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that FoMO fashion did not significantly predict students’ zuhud values (B = 0.086, p = .238), whereas self-control demonstrated a positive and significant effect (B = 0.580, p < .001). Simultaneously, both variables explained 46.7% of the variance in zuhud values (R² = .467; F = 20.60, p < .001). The findings challenge technologically deterministic assumptions that social media exposure inevitably weakens adolescent morality and position zuhud as a form of spiritual self-regulation relevant to strengthening adolescents’ moral resilience within contemporary digital culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Islamic ethics are operationalized as the foundation of science and technology education at SDN Paduran Sebangau 2. This study employs a qualitative approach using an intrinsic case study design through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and analysis of learning documents. Informants included the school principal, classroom teachers, Islamic education teachers, and upper-grade students. Data analysis was conducted thematically using source and method triangulation to ensure the credibility of the findings. The results indicate that Islamic ethics are systematically integrated from the lesson planning stage, actualized in STEM pedagogical practices, internalized into students’ digital ethical awareness, transmitted through teachers’ exemplary behavior, and reinforced by the school culture. Values such as trustworthiness, honesty, responsibility, and the common good are translated into concrete pedagogical indicators in the use of technology in the classroom. These findings affirm a shift from a value-neutral STEM learning paradigm toward value-driven learning, where science and technology are understood as tools for character development. This study contributes theoretically to the integration of Islamic ethics, character education, and digital citizenship, and practically demonstrates an implementable model of value-based STEM education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study discusses the educational management approaches applied in Islamic-based schools through a Systematic Literature Review. The urgency of this research stems from the need for madrasas, Islamic boarding schools, Islamic boarding schools, and integrated Islamic schools to strengthen governance, educational quality, student character building, and institutional competitiveness amidst social change, digitalization, and the demands of modern education. This study aims to identify educational management approaches commonly applied in Islamic-based schools, analyze their contribution to school governance and educational quality, and identify research gaps in Islamic educational management studies. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review with reference to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The selection process was carried out through an initial search of 159 articles, then filtered to 40 articles based on inclusion criteria, until 22 articles were obtained for in-depth analysis. The results of the study indicate that the educational management approach in Islamic-based schools is multidimensional and integrative. Dominant approaches include Islamic value-based leadership, kiai leadership, Qudwatuna leadership, academic kiai, Total Quality Management, strategic management, digital transformation, parental involvement, tahfidz program management, institutional branding, and educational service management. These approaches contribute to strengthening school governance through participation, transparency, accountability, administrative efficiency, ethical leadership, and institutional sustainability. Furthermore, these approaches improve educational quality through an integrated curriculum, teacher professionalism, religious character development, student achievement, digital services, and community engagement. This study concludes that educational management in Islamic-based schools needs to be developed through a more integrative, measurable, and contextual model so that it can be applied to various forms of Islamic educational institutions.
