Abstract

Loneliness is one of the most significant psychological impacts experienced by adolescents after the loss of a parent, particularly due to the absence of an attachment figure who previously provided emotional security. This study aims to describe the subjective experience of loneliness among bereaved adolescents. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive phenomenology, three adolescents aged 13–18 participated in in-depth interviews supported by source triangulation. Data were analyzed using Giorgi’s Descriptive Phenomenological Analysis (DPA). The findings revealed four main themes: (1) profound emptiness and deep loneliness, (2) coping strategies through distraction and alternative activities, (3) personal changes and a gradual process of grief acceptance, and (4) shifts in family roles and increased responsibilities. These results indicate that adolescent loneliness is not solely caused by the physical absence of a parent but also by the loss of emotional grounding and the emergence of greater psychosocial burdens. This study contributes to expanding phenomenological understanding of loneliness in bereaved adolescents and highlights the need for adequate psychosocial support to foster healthier adaptation.

Abstract

The formation of students' character is the main goal of Islamic education. However, the learning practices in most schools still emphasize academic achievement more than the internalization of moral values. One of the pedagogical strategies that encourages the development of students' morals is the use of multi-age classrooms, which facilitate social interactions among students of different age levels within a single learning environment. The objective of this research is to analyze how multi-age classes are implemented at Brainy Bunch International Islamic Montessori School in Malaysia, as well as to explore how the dynamics of social interactions that occur in these classes contribute to the learning process and the internalization of students' moral values. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were collected thru observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using thematic analysis. The research results show that multi-age classrooms create a stable learning environment and encourage peer learning, collaboration, and mutual support in academic activities as well as daily routines such as communal worship and character development. This interaction serves as a social means for students to internalize their social awareness, empathy, and sense of responsibility. These findings affirm that multi-age classes not only serve as a learning strategy but also as a pedagogical space that integrates academic and moral dimensions in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Technical Guidance in improving teacher capacity to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum Indonesia. Through literature analysis and case studies, this report discusses the definition of technical guidance, the concept of teacher capacity, and the basic principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. The findings show that technical guidance contributes significantly to improving teachers' pedagogical, professional, personal, and social competencies. These competencies are essential in adapting to the flexible, learner-centered learning paradigm of Merdeka Curriculum. Although the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum faces various challenges, such as varying levels of teacher readiness, limited resources, and the need for a change in mindset, technical guidance has proven to be an effective strategic solution. Impact evaluations show a noticeable improvement in the quality of Lesson Plans and differentiated learning practices, which have a positive impact on student learning experiences and achievements. Therefore, well-planned, sustainable, and adaptive technical guidance is a vital investment for the success of educational transformation in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to explore global competence and inclusive spirituality in teacher professional education (PPG) within the context of the digital era and diversity. This study is based on a transformative reflective learning approach that integrates the principles of deep learning and religious moderation literacy as pedagogical foundations. The research subjects consisted of 21 PPG students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan. Data were collected through reflective journals, in-depth interviews, and classroom then analyzed thematically using Braun and Clarke's (2006) six-phase framework. Findings revealed five main themes: (1) transformation of perspectives on diversity (17/21 participants); (2) reflective learning practices that foster inclusive spirituality (14/21); (3) contextual pedagogical strategies shaping global competence (16/21); (4) structural and cultural challenges in implementing moderation values (11/21); and (5) changes in the role of prospective teachers from material conveyors to value facilitators (19/21). This study offers conceptual and practical contributions to understanding value-based PPG practices and strengthens the role of teachers as agents of change in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the internalization of the value of tasamuh (tolerance) in the educational interaction between teacher and student through a thematic interpretation approach to the verse لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ (QS. Al-Baqarah: 256). The background of this research is based on the importance of education as a means of forming tolerant character in a pluralistic society, and there are still challenges in the implementation of tolerance values in the school environment. The method used is a qualitative approach with the maudhuiy (thematic) tafsir method, through the analysis of relevant Qur'anic verses, classical and contemporary interpretations, and tolerance education literature. The results of the study show that the verse لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ contains the principle of religious freedom which is the theological foundation for the development of tolerance in education. The internalization of tasamuh values can be carried out through an approach that integrates cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects, with teachers playing the role of facilitators and role models. Implementation strategies include interactive dialogue, experiential learning, positive reinforcement, and value reflection. The application of this pedagogical model has been proven to be able to create an inclusive, harmonious classroom environment, and support the moral and social development of students.

Abstract

The planning and implementation of learning in early childhood education still tend not to fully align with children’s developmental stages, particularly regarding the development of prosocial behavior. Limited stimulation and structured programs have resulted in children’s prosocial aspects not developing optimally, necessitating a learning approach better suited to children’s needs. Efforts to develop prosocial behavior have been undertaken at Adinda Daycare, but their effectiveness has not yet been scientifically identified. This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, evaluation, and challenges in applying the Montessori practical life area method to develop prosocial behavior in early childhood. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods and a case study design. The research subjects are the children at Adinda Daycare who were observed. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation using a triangulation approach to ensure data validity. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and systematic conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Montessori practical life area method is effective in improving children’s prosocial behavior including helping others, cooperation, sharing, and honesty to the point where it reaches the “developing as expected” category. Behavioral changes are evident in the increased initiative children demonstrate in helping peers, their ability to cooperate during group activities, their habit of sharing, and their honesty in interactions. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, such as differences in children’s backgrounds and teachers’ limited understanding of the Montessori method as a whole. The implications of this study suggest that the Montessori practical life method can serve as an effective learning alternative for holistically developing prosocial behavior in early childhood in alignment with their developmental stages.

Abstract

Arabic language learning, particularly speaking skills (mahārah kalām), still faces various challenges, such as the use of conventional methods and low student participation. With the advancement of technology, the use of digital media has become an innovative alternative to enhance learning effectiveness. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Durusullughah application in improving the Arabic speaking skills of seventh-grade students at MTsN 5 Jember. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test control group model. The sample consisted of two groups: an experimental class and a control class, each comprising 27 students. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using the Independent Samples t-Test. The results indicate a significant improvement in speaking ability among students in the experimental class compared to the control class, as evidenced by a post-test average score of 77.59 in the experimental class and 64.07 in the control class. Furthermore, the statistical test results showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, it can be concluded that the Durusullughah application is effective in improving students’ Arabic speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of local government in regulating the establishment of houses of worship in Indonesia through a case study of the Prayer House of the Indonesian Faithful Christian Church Congregation (GKSI) Padang in the City of Padang, West Sumatra. The regulation of the establishment of houses of worship under the Joint Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs and the Minister of Home Affairs No. 9 and No. 8 of 2006 grants significant authority to local governments in terms of administrative verification, facilitation of interreligious harmony, and conflict mediation. However, in practice, this authority often operates within a tension between maintaining public order and ensuring the protection of the constitutional right to freedom of religion. This research employs a qualitative method with a juridical-empirical approach and a case study design, utilizing the analysis of statutory regulations, official documents, media reports, and academic literature. The findings indicate that, in the case of GKSI Padang, the local government has functioned as both an administrative regulator and a conflict mediator. Nevertheless, its role as a guarantor of constitutional rights remains suboptimal, particularly in preventing vigilantism and ensuring the security of religious worship. This study recommends strengthening local government standard operating procedures based on principles of non-discrimination, accountability, and human rights protection in order to prevent similar conflicts in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of supervision in improving the performance of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in remote areas, with a focus on Sebangau Kuala Subdistrict, Pulang Pisau Regency. This study is motivated by the importance of supervision as a strategic mechanism within the education system, particularly in remote areas facing limitations in access, infrastructure, and human resources. A structural-functional approach is employed to understand the role of supervision in maintaining the balance of the education system. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Islamic Education teachers, school principals, and educational supervisors. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to identify patterns of the functions and challenges of supervision in the local context. Research findings indicate that supervision serves two primary functions: first, as a professional development mechanism that enhances teachers’ pedagogical competencies, reflective practices, and instructional strategies; and second, as an integrative tool that aligns the curriculum, school policies, and instructional practices. However, the effectiveness of supervision remains hindered by structural factors such as geographical constraints, a shortage of supervisors, a formalistic approach, and a lack of follow-up. This study is limited to the context of a specific region with limited access and resources, so the generalizability of the findings remains limited. However, the results have implications for the development of more adaptive and context-specific supervision models.

Abstract

For Generation Z, the boundless digital space often becomes a place devoid of civility, marked by the prevalence of hate speech, a loss of respect for scholarly authority, and an instant-gratification mentality that erodes perseverance. This study aims to reinterpret Imam Al-Ghazali’s ethics as presented in the book Ayyuhal Walad as a means of strengthening the character of Generation Z in the face of the moral crisis caused by digital disruption.  This research uses a qualitative method with a library research approach. The library research used to collect data, analyze, and draw conclusions regarding the reinterpretation of the value of adab in the book Ayyuhal Walad from Imam Al-Ghazali’s, based on journals and previous studies. The research findings indicate that the internalization of values in Imam Al-Ghazali’s Ayyuhal Walad among Generation Z in the era of digital disruption encompasses five key findings: the characteristics of Generation Z in the era of digital disruption; psychosocial profiles and mental health vulnerabilities; the identification of digital pathologies; the mapping of values and resolutions; and a model of internalization mechanisms. At its culmination, the success of the reactivation of Ayyuhal Walad culminates in the restoration of the essential function of the intellect of Generation Z; freeing them from the subjugation of artificial algorithms, and guiding them back to fully submit under the completeness of Sharia and Haqiqat, so that they are ready to face the future as digital subjects with integrity, noble manners, and high spiritual awareness.
