Abstract

Dams are critical infrastructure that faces maintenance challenges due to resource limitations, fragmented data, and inefficiencies in workflow management. Building Information Modeling (BIM), by integrating multidimensional data, offers a promising solution to address these challenges by improving maintenance operations through better data visualization, coordination, and decision-making. The purpose of this study is to investigate how BIM can improve the efficiency and performance of dam maintenance operations in Indonesia. This study uses a mixed method approach, which combines qualitative and quantitative methods. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with dam maintenance experts and engineers, as well as field observations of projects that implemented BIM. The analysis also involves a review of relevant literature on global BIM applications. Quantitative data is analyzed using statistical tools, while qualitative data is coded to identify key insights and themes. The results show that BIM significantly improves dam maintenance efficiency by optimizing maintenance scheduling, resource allocation, and structural monitoring. BIM's 3-Dimensional (3D) modeling capabilities enable early detection of structural problems, improve safety, and reliability. In addition, the study identifies scalability challenges for small-scale projects and recommends tailored solutions to ensure wider deployment. This research contributes to the development of sustainable maintenance strategies for critical infrastructure, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is often perceived as difficult by students due to its abstract nature and the need for strong logical thinking and visualization skills, particularly in geometry topics such as solid shapes. Many students struggle to grasp three-dimensional concepts through verbal explanations or static textbook images alone. Therefore, there is a need for innovative teaching materials that can bridge conceptual understanding in a more concrete and engaging way. This study aims to develop mathematics teaching materials using the GeoGebra application for the topic of solid geometry to enhance student engagement in the learning process. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The validation process involved experts in subject matter, design, and media. The research subjects consisted of 30 eighth-grade students and a mathematics teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Uwapa. Two instruments were used: expert validation questionnaires and practicality questionnaires for both teachers and students. All instruments utilized a Likert scale for quantitative data analysis regarding the validity and practicality of the teaching materials. Based on the research findings, the developed mathematics teaching materials received validation scores of 94.40% from subject matter experts, 97.25% from design experts, and 84.00% from media experts, classifying them as highly valid. After validation, the materials were tested on students, yielding practicality scores of 94.71% for individual trials, 94.47% for small group trials, and 92.09% for large group trials, categorizing them as highly practical.

Abstract

The low achievement in students' mathematics learning remains a persistent issue in education, primarily due to conventional teaching methods that fail to engage students actively. This study aims to examine the effect of the cooperative learning strategy, specifically the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model, on the mathematics learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Uwapa. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two purposively selected classes: one experimental group that received instruction through the TGT model and one control group taught using conventional methods. Research instruments included a validated multiple-choice test and observation sheets of student learning activities. The results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s learning outcomes compared to the control group, with a posttest average score of 83.00 and a statistically significant difference according to the t-test (p < 0.05). Additionally, the TGT model enhanced student participation, motivation, and classroom interaction. These findings indicate that the TGT strategy effectively fosters an engaging learning environment and supports optimal student achievement. The implication of this research suggests that mathematics teachers are encouraged to implement the TGT model as an innovative teaching alternative, particularly in regions facing educational challenges.

Abstract

Body height is a basic unit for assessing growth and nutrition, but measuring body height can be hindered by muscle weakness, joint problems, or spinal deformities. Estimating a person's height is an important parameter in forensic examinations. An alternative method for measuring a person's height in forensic cases, as well as when human body parts are found at mass disaster sites, is to calculate height according to identification perspectives. Furthermore, estimating stature from skeletal fragments is also of great interest in forensic science. Anthropometry is a systematic measurement method that expresses human body and skeletal dimensions quantitatively. Anthropometry is often viewed as a traditional tool and may be a basic tool in biological anthropology. This is due to the increasing number of disaster events causing mass deaths that require victim identification from fragmented human remains. Footprint analysis helps in estimating an individual's stature because of the strong positive correlation between stature and foot size; footprints are also considered indicators of a person's skeletal and body structure. Method: This research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional design aimed at examining the relationship between foot length and body height in the North Sumatran community, aged 21-25 years, of Batak Karo ethnicity. Results: Foot length and body height in males and females have a significant relationship with a p-value < 0.05 (P = 0.001), with a very strong correlation level; r > 0.8 (0.800-1.000). Foot length has a strong correlation with body height, making foot length a good predictor of body height.

Abstract

Distribution transformer maintenance plays a critical role in ensuring the continuity and reliability of PLN’s electricity supply. Currently, PLN employs a Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) approach, relying on a Health Index (HI) derived from Tier 1 and Tier 2 inspection outcomes. However, in practice, determining maintenance priorities remains largely dependent on the intuition and technical experience of decision-makers, leading to potential inconsistencies in decision-making. Additionally, the absence of a structured weighting mechanism among HI parameters and unclear relevance of indicators used further hampers valid and reliable decision-making aligned with current operational conditions. This research aims to propose a structured and adaptive Health Index evaluation method through the integration of the Delphi and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods. The Delphi method was employed to identify the most relevant parameters based on expert consensus, while the AHP method provided logical and consistent weighting among these parameters. Although AHP does not entirely eliminate subjectivity, as it still depends on expert judgments, it offers a systematic and transparent way to manage conflicting criteria effectively. The Delphi application yielded seven sub-criteria parameters grouped into three main criteria: oil leakage, transformer body temperature, load percentage, grounding value, physical condition, transformer age, and neutral current percentage. Based on AHP analysis, the oil leakage parameter was identified as having the highest weighting (0.23), indicating its significant impact on transformer performance. Applying this methodology to 253 distribution transformers resulted in prioritizing maintenance into three categories: Priority I (4 transformers), Priority II (54 transformers), and Priority III (195 transformers). The findings and validation from this study demonstrate that a structured, weighting-based approach significantly enhances the accuracy and transparency of decision-making processes in asset maintenance management.

Abstract

Abstract

This research explores how phatic utterances, which are important for social interaction in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, are translated into Indonesian. These expressions are challenging to translate because of cultural and language differences, especially when trying to keep their social and emotional meaning. This study identifies types of phatic expressions, looks at the translation methods used in the Mizan Indonesian version, and checks how well the original meaning is kept. It uses a descriptive qualitative approach, comparing dialogues from the English original and the Indonesian translation. The study uses theories on phatic communication (Malinowski, 1923; Jakobson, 1960), translation strategies (Baker, 2018), and pragmatic equivalence (Baker, 1992; Searle, 1969), focusing on what's implied, assumed, and intended. The analysis shows that the translator used several methods. “Cultural substitution" and "paraphrase using a related word” were common for translating greetings, politeness, and small talk. Other methods like "omission" and "loan words" were also used. The study found that the intended purpose of many phatic expressions, like simple greetings and affectionate terms, is usually kept in the translation. The general context of conversations and basic assumptions are also mostly preserved. However, finer details like character-specific implications and the full emotional impact of some original interjections can change or get lost. This often happens when strategies like using more neutral words are chosen.

Abstract

Maternal pregnancy with endocrine and metabolic diseases must be planned very carefully. Hyperthyroidism was found to be 0.1-0.4% in pregnancy and many were caused by Grave's disease (85%). Diabetes mellitus is a medical complication that often occurs during pregnancy with an incidence of 3-5% of all pregnancies. Increased mortality and perinatal morbidity rates in pregnancies with diabetes mellitus are directly correlated with hyperglycemic conditions in women. Hypertension is thought to be a complication of around 7-10% of all pregnancies. Thus, awareness of antenatal care is good for pregnant women so that fewer impacts on maternal and fetal morbidity can be prevented. In this paper discuss about Mrs. RED a 34-year-old patient from polyclinic with 37 weeks gestational age. The patient knows himself with a history of hyperthyroidism, type II DM and chronic hypertension since the last 2 years. Patients are routinely do antenatal care at the Zainoel Abdidin Hospital since the beginning of gestational age because she was aware about the risk of the disease and got therapy for hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Furthermore, in term pregnancy, the patient is planned for elective caesarean section and was born female baby bodyweight 4000 grams, with APGAR SCORE 8/9. It is proven in these patients that good antenatal care during pregnancy, especially in patients with various endocrine and metabolic diseases can reduce mortality and morbidity of mothers and babies. Poor glycemic control will cause macrosomia and will increase the risk of intra uterine fetal death. Uncontrolled hypertension main risk factor for the occurrence of eclampsia, and hyperthyroidism with excessive treatment will cause hypothyroidism in the fetus. Therefore, proper therapy is needed, so that complications for the mother and baby can be prevented.
