Abstract

This study set out to find out what the students thought about using literature as a teaching approach to increase the vocabulary of EFL students. In order to learn what students think about using literature as a teaching approach to boost students' EFL vocabulary, this research employs interviews and a qualitative descriptive design. Thirty EFL students who were taught English at Universitas Islam Negeri Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu (UINFAS) are the participants in this study that consist of 9 male and 21 female students. Through stratified random sampling, they were chosen. Additionally, seven English lecturers from the Al-Ain district—two men and five women—were specifically selected to participate in the group interview. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitative data were through percentage, frequency and mean scores, while qualitative data through thematic analysis. The interview findings revealed ten questioners of Literature. Based on the findings, because literature aided in the English teaching and learning process, most teachers were in favor of using it in the classroom. It indicates that the use of literature in EFL classrooms was well-received by the students.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the Pancasila Profile in the school curriculum through the perspective of a review of educational philosophy. Pancasila, as the foundation of the Indonesian state, has a central role in shaping the character and morality of the younger generation. The focus of this research is on a critical analysis of how the values of Pancasila are reflected and integrated in the structure of the formal education curriculum. The research method uses a qualitative approach by collecting data through literature analysis, interviews with teachers, and observation of educational practices in selected schools. The context of the implementation of the Pancasila Profile involves an understanding of the way Pancasila values are articulated in curriculum objectives, education policies, and implementation strategies at the national and local levels. The results showed that the implementation of the Pancasila Profile had a significant impact on the formation of student character and the integration of Pancasila values in learning. However, challenges such as resistance to change and inconsistent understanding of Pancasila values were also identified as aspects that needed attention. This research contributes to an in-depth understanding of how educational philosophy plays a key role in shaping the implementation of the Pancasila Profile. These findings provide a basis for recommendations for improvement and development of education policies that are more effective in making Pancasila values a key pillar in formal education. The implications of this research can help direct steps towards a more sustainable education system and in accordance with the spirit of Pancasila as a moral guide for Indonesia's young generation.

Abstract

Autistic students experience developmental disorders that affect various aspects, namely thinking ability, socialization, communication, and behavior in accepting abstract things. Based on preliminary studies at SLB Autis Laboratorium UM, they experience limited new vocabulary that affects their speaking ability so that echolalia characteristics often appear in the learning process. In addition, the learning media used are still limited and less innovative in teaching abstract things to students. The purpose of this research is to develop learning media in the form of augmented reality-based flashcards that are effective and valid and can improve speaking skills, especially in pronouncing vocabulary and questioning activities or having simple conversations, especially for autistic students where 3D animated animal models will appear followed by audio explanations when used. This study uses a research and development method developed by ADDIE with 5 stages of development, namely (1) Analysis; (2) Design; (3) Development; (4) Implementation; (5) Evaluation. The subjects in this research and development are media experts, material experts, practitioners, and 3 autistic students from class III. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that Augmented Reality-Based Flashcard media are feasible and effective in using Indonesian language learning at the UM Laboratory Autistic SLB. This is evidenced by the media validation test score of 98% and 100%, the material validation test score of 100% and 100%, and the assessment of the results of the practitioner validation test of 82% and 98%. The overall assessment of the validation test that has been carried out is 96% (Very Valid). In addition, the overall assessment of the small group trial that has been carried out is obtained at 87.5% (Highly Effective).
