Abstract

This study aims to find out and analyze the characteristics of briquettes in burning activated corn charcoal. The preparation procedure of this study includes material collection, carbonization, crushing, sifting through an 80-mesh sieve, activation, merging with adhesives, compaction, and drying. Sago powder is used as an adhesive with a mass ratio of 9:1. After being heated separately at 550°C and 650°C for 30 minutes and 20 minutes, the samples were compressed at various pressures. Another difference in compaction pressure also leads to similar results. Untreated corn cob briquettes reach their maximum temperature before activated corn cob briquettes. At an activation value of 550°C for 30 minutes and a compaction pressure of 70.33 kg/cm2, the highest combustion temperature was 528°C. In this study, it can be identified characteristics that can improve the burning efficiency of corn charcoal. This research has implications for better combustion efficiency, can reveal factors that affect combustion efficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the capital market's reaction to the Covid 19 Pandemic in biotechnology companies listed on the Nasdaq. The method used in this study uses a type of quantitative method. This study uses an event study. The sampling method in this study was carried out using a non-probability random sampling approach. The announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic by the WHO and the commitment to produce a COVID-19 vaccine have had a significant impact on abnormal stock returns and trading volume activities of biotech companies listed on the NASDAQ stock market. However, there is no significant effect on the liquidity of biotech company stocks. In addition, the announcement of the COVID-19 pandemic also affected the volatility of biotech company stocks. In contrast, the announcement of a commitment to producing a COVID-19 vaccine did not significantly impact the volatility of biotech company stocks. So, it shows that the NASDAQ stock market reacts sensitively to announcements about the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to produce COVID-19 vaccines by biotech companies. This shows that the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the stock market, especially in the biotechnology sector. The event study approach is used to test the market with a semi-strong form of market efficiency by demonstrating that the stock price reflects all published information (all publicly available information).

Abstract

The increasing number of drug users netted in Indonesia has made prisons and detention centres over capacity. The high number of narcotics cases has filled prisons and detention centres, mainly with those who stumble on narcotics cases. This study aims to describe Islamic punishments for cases of drug users that are relevant, based on benefit and does not cause new polemics. This type of research is library research using a descriptive-analytic method by looking for primary and secondary references related to this study. Based on the results of the analysis, it is stated that sanctions against drug users have so far not yielded good results and have even created several new polemics. Meanwhile, Islamic punishment, ta'zir, is more appropriate and relevant to narcotics users. Ta'zir punishment is preventive, which can prevent a person from getting away from drugs; repressive, which makes offenders deterrent; curative, which can provide changes in the perpetrators; and educative, both for drug offenders and other people. The implementation of Law No. 35 of 2009 on narcotics is still unable to overcome the problem of drug abuse properly, even causing new problems such as exceeded prison capacity, increased state budget burden, and punishments that do not have a positive impact on perpetrators. Islamic punishment, with a more humane and effective approach, can be a viable alternative to address this problem.

Abstract

Acquisition is the takeover of a company by another company by taking over assets or shares. However, this can create obstacles to business competition and monopolistic practices regulated by Law. Therefore, regulations govern acquisitions, but there is still legal ambiguity in Law No. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies. This study uses the normative juridical research method. Normative legal research is a scientific procedure to find the truth based on the scientific logic of Law from a normative perspective. Arrangements regarding Acquisitions are clarified by regulating the business competition supervisory commission (KPPU) No. 1 of 2009 concerning pre-notification of mergers, consolidations and acquisitions. As well as the existence of Government Regulation No. 57 of 2010 concerning Mergers or consolidations as well as the acquisition of company shares which can result in monopolistic practices and unfair business competition, as well as Government Regulation No. 44 of 2021 concerning the implementation of Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition. It is necessary to reform regulations related to the acquisition of shares in a Limited Liability Company by establishing an Act accompanied by Government Regulations and other implementing regulations that support and do not conflict with the Act. In addition, KPPU needs to conduct a more thorough and selective assessment so as not to cause jealousy between one another.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the factors contributing to purchase intent towards electric vehicles (EVs) among Generation Z in Jakarta and their perceptions of electric vehicle marketing efforts from manufacturers and government programs. The study aimed to provide recommendations for manufacturers and the government to promote EVs through open-ended qualitative questionnaires, sentiment analysis from Twitter, and quantitative structural equation modelling. The open-ended qualitative questionnaire provided insights into Generation Z's purchase intention towards EVs, their knowledge and concern for environmental issues related to EVs, and their perceptions of marketing efforts from manufacturers and government programs. The sentiment analysis from Twitter revealed ositive sentiment towards electric cars, electric motorcycles, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Wuling Air EVs. The quantitative structural equation modelling revealed that personal norms were a significant predictor of purchase intention, with a significant relationship between personal norms and environmental concern and peer effect. However, the relationship between environmental concern and peer effect on purchase intention was insignificant. Personal norms are a crucial factor in determining Generation Z's purchase intention of electric vehicles in Jakarta, and environmental concerns and peer effects have no significant effect. While Generation Z has a positive outlook on EVs, manufacturers, governments, and society need to do more to promote their adoption. Manufacturers should focus educating consumers about the benefits of electric vehicles, and governments should provide incentives to encourage their use. Further research is needed to investigate other factors influencing purchase intent, such as consumer knowledge and attitudes towards electric vehicles.
