Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using the TikTok platform on the reading habits of MA Nurul Ichsan students. The background of this research is the increasing popularity of social media, which potentially shifts students’ traditional reading interest. The study employed a descriptive method with data collected through questionnaires and observations involving students of grades X, XI, and XII. The findings reveal that the majority of students experienced a decline in reading interest after actively using TikTok. A total of 90.4% of respondents reported decreased reading motivation, with 57.1% rarely reading books outside school hours, and 60% facing concentration difficulties after using the application. Furthermore, 80% of students preferred entertainment content over educational content. Although 5% of students felt motivated to seek reading material from TikTok content, the negative effects remain more dominant. This research highlights the importance of the roles of teachers and parents in guiding students to use social media wisely and in fostering consistent reading habits.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of peer review on the development of writing skills among eleventh grade students at MA Raudlatul Ulum 2 Putukrejo. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of 15 female students selected through purposive sampling. The results of the study indicate that peer review significantly improves the quality of students' writing, particularly in terms of grammatical accuracy, vocabulary selection, idea organization, and coherence. Feedback from peers helps students identify weaknesses that were previously unrecognized, making revisions more targeted and effective. In addition to its cognitive impact, peer review also fosters metacognitive awareness, critical thinking, self-confidence, and intrinsic motivation, while also training students in the skill of providing polite and constructive feedback. This activity also reinforces the core values of the pesantren, such as cooperation, mutual assistance, and social responsibility. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators by providing clear guidance, organizing heterogeneous groups, and ensuring the relevance of feedback. These findings indicate that peer review is a comprehensive learning strategy that integrates academic, social, and character development, making it relevant to the demands of 21st-century education, which emphasizes collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires digital literacy as a crucial competency for students in navigating academic and social challenges. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy on students' ability to evaluate and analyze information, particularly in the context of technology-based Islamic Religious Education at SMA Negeri 1 Raha. A quantitative approach with a correlational causality design was used, with primary data collected through a structured questionnaire administered to students. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression to determine the extent to which digital literacy predicts students' evaluative and analytical abilities. The results indicate that digital literacy significantly improves students' critical information processing abilities, particularly in assessing the credibility of religious information, distinguishing between facts and opinions, and analyzing arguments. These findings highlight that students with higher levels of digital literacy are better able to engage critically with the vast and diverse information available in the digital space. This article contributes theoretically by strengthening the role of digital literacy as a predictive factor for higher-order thinking skills, and practically by offering implications for educators and policymakers in integrating digital literacy training into the Islamic Religious Education curriculum. Additionally, this study paves the way for future research by incorporating additional variables, such as learning motivation and collaborative skills, to provide a broader understanding of how digital literacy relates to academic achievement and important learning outcomes.

Abstract

In the context of education, leadership is characterized by the commitment and professional work of teachers or educators, encompassing various aspects such as teaching, mentoring, and character development of students. This study explores the factors considered by teachers in developing the character of eighth-grade students at MTs Ma’arif 31 Tri Bhakti Sido Makmur, East Lampung. Teachers, especially those who are new to the profession, must first cultivate their own character, as they serve as role models and exert a direct influence on their students through their attitudes and behaviors. The process of character formation is carried out both inside and outside the classroom using several educational methods, including the Exemplary Method (al-Uswah al-Hasanah), the Habituation Method (Ta‘widiyyah), the Advice and Counsel Method (Mau‘izhah wa al-Nasehah), and the Reward and Punishment Method (‘Iqab). These approaches aim to help students understand and internalize moral and ethical values as part of the school’s character education program—initiated and exemplified by the teachers themselves. This study contributes to the understanding of how teachers’ self-character formation and pedagogical strategies synergize to build students’ moral character. It offers a practical framework for educators and institutions seeking to implement effective character education through Islamic-based pedagogical methods.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah Treatise in reinforcing the values of Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) within the tradition of Lailatul Ijtima, as practiced by the Sukabumi Branch Representative Council of Nahdlatul Ulama in Bandar Lampung City. Lailatul Ijtima is a routine tradition held by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) that serves to strengthen fellowship among members, deepen religious knowledge, and reaffirm a commitment to moderate Islamic teachings rooted in the Aswaja perspective. As the primary reference in this tradition, the Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah Treatise plays a vital role in guiding participants toward sound Islamic creed (aqidah), sharia aligned with the Sunnah, and virtuous character (akhlaq). This study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation to examine the implementation of Lailatul Ijtima at the Sukabumi NU Branch. Data were collected through interviews with religious leaders, administrators, and participants to assess the impact of the Treatise on enhancing understanding and practice of Aswaja values among NU members. The findings reveal that the Ahlusunnah Wal Jamaah Treatise significantly contributes to deepening the understanding and application of Aswaja teachings, particularly within the Lailatul Ijtima tradition. The text emphasizes the principles of moderate belief, sharia consistent with the Qur'an and Hadith, and the importance of moral integrity and interfaith tolerance. Additionally, the Treatise serves as a unifying reference that fosters collective awareness, preserves religious traditions, and guards against deviant ideologies. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on contextual Aswaja practice at the grassroots level, particularly within regional NU communities. It offers practical insights into how classical Islamic texts are utilized in religious traditions to strengthen a moderate Islamic identity. The findings may also inform educational institutions and religious organizations in developing contextual and tradition-based Islamic learning strategies that remain relevant in contemporary society

Abstract

This research is motivated by the issue of fragmentation of authority and jurisdictional uncertainty in Indonesian maritime law enforcement, particularly when maritime crimes involve both civilian and military elements simultaneously (connectivity cases). The research method uses a normative juridical approach and comparative law (comparative law approach), by analyzing legislation, legal doctrine, and institutional policies of maritime law enforcement in Indonesia and the Philippines. The analysis shows that the Indonesian system remains pluralistic and overlapping, while the Philippines has successfully established a centralized maritime law enforcement system through the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as a single civilian institution that prioritizes the principle of primacy of civil jurisdiction. The research findings emphasize the need for structural, normative, and value reforms to strengthen the supremacy of civil law in Indonesian waters, including strengthening the role of the Prosecutor's Office as dominus litis, revising the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Military Court Law and consolidating maritime law enforcement functions under the Maritime Security Agency. Thus, this research contributes to the development of an institutional and procedural model for handling connectivity cases at sea that is more effective, fair and in line with the principles of the rule of law at sea

Abstract

In the era of globalization and technological advancement, films have become a popular medium accessible to all groups, serving not only as entertainment but also as carriers of social, cultural, psychological, and linguistic values. Figurative language in films plays a crucial role in enriching narratives and expressing abstract ideas through more concrete and imaginative forms. This study focuses on analyzing figurative sentences containing possessive meaning in the film The Golden Compass using a qualitative descriptive approach. The data, taken from character dialogues, were identified, classified, and analyzed to reveal the possessive meanings embedded in them. The findings show five figurative sentences with possessive meaning that significantly contribute to strengthening characterization, portraying emotional bonds, and representing power relations among the characters. These results indicate that figurative language functions not only as an aesthetic device but also as a means of psychological and social representation. Theoretically, this research broadens insights into linguistic studies, while practically it can be applied as learning material in language and literature education to foster appreciation of figurative language in real contexts. Thus, films can be regarded as both a medium of learning and a reflection of life values.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of educational philosophy in the development of Islamic education practices in the modern era, characterized by social, cultural, and technological changes. Islamic education is not only focused on knowledge transfer but also on the cultivation of moral character and holistic personality development. However, global dynamics require a new paradigm that can uphold core Islamic values while remaining adaptive to contemporary generational needs. This study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach through literature review and contextual analysis. Data were collected from educational philosophy literature—including Perennialism, Essentialism, Progressivism, Existentialism, Reconstructionism, Pragmatism, Constructivism, Idealism, and Realism—as well as the thoughts of prominent Islamic education scholars. Analysis was conducted by relating philosophical ideas to Islamic educational principles emphasizing the integration of faith, knowledge, and practice. The results indicate that Islamic education should combine timeless values aligned with Perennialism and Idealism with adaptive approaches offered by Progressivism, Constructivism, and Reconstructionism. This integration strengthens spiritual, intellectual, and life skills while fostering critical, creative, and collaborative thinking. Thus, Islamic education functions not only as a preserver of scholarly tradition but also as a transformative, solution-oriented, and globally competitive force
