Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development and dynamics of government policies toward Islamic education in Indonesia from the Old Order and New Order periods to the Reform era. Each period demonstrates distinct policy directions shaped by the political, social, and ideological context of its time. Using a library research method, this study examines primary and secondary sources, including books, legal regulations, and scientific articles related to the history of Islamic education. The findings reveal that during the Old Order period, government policies focused on recognizing and establishing the Ministry of Religious Affairs as the institution responsible for managing Islamic education. In the New Order era, policies shifted toward integrating madrasahs into the national education system, exemplified by the 1975 Joint Decree of Three Ministers. Meanwhile, in the Reform era, the government broadened its recognition of Islamic educational institutions—such as pesantren and majelis taklim—through Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System. Overall, government policies across these periods demonstrate continuity and positive transformation in the recognition, development, and legitimization of Islamic education in Indonesia. Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a Muslim-majority population, reaching approximately 86.88% of the total population or around 236.59 million people. This fact makes the demand for halal food and beverage products highly essential. The halal status of a product is not only seen as a fulfillment of religious obligations but also as a consumer right to access safe, proper, and faith-compliant products. In this context, the halal label serves as a crucial indicator for Muslim consumers in selecting products for consumption. It is also perceived as a form of transparency from producers and an effective marketing strategy to attract Muslim consumer segments. However, public understanding of the halal label remains limited and is often perceived merely as a symbol, rather than as part of a comprehensive product assurance system. This study aims to examine the extent to which Muslim consumers in Indonesia consider halal aspects when choosing food and beverage products. Furthermore, it seeks to identify public perceptions regarding the importance of halal labeling and to what extent it influences purchasing decisions. The method used in this study is a literature review, by analyzing various literature sources and previous research related to Muslim consumer behavior towards halal labels. The results of this research are expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the role of halal labeling in the consumer decision-making process in Indonesia

Abstract

Generation Z learners, born into an era of ubiquitous digital technology, require robust digital-literacy skills to participate effectively in education and society. However, many students in Islamic elementary schools (madrasah ibtidaiyah) still struggle with basic computer operation, especially when confronted with computer-based testing environments. This study aimed to upgrade the digital literacy of female students at MI Al Fatah II through a structured, hands-on Basic Computer Training (BCT) program. The training emphasized fundamental computer use, file management, text editing, and online-examination simulation. A participatory action-research design was adopted, involving 25 students over three weeks. Quantitative data were collected via pre- and post-tests, and qualitative data through observation and reflective interviews. The average literacy score increased from 48.2 to 86.7, yielding a normalized gain of 0.74 (high effectiveness). Students also exhibited enhanced self-confidence and ethical awareness in digital environments. The findings highlight that gender-responsive, context-based digital-literacy programs can effectively prepare young learners in faith-based schools to engage in online learning ecosystems and align with Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar policy and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4 & 9).

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instructors support the development of religious moderation awareness among 10th-grade students at Al-Qur'an Tri Bhakti At-Taqwa Senior High School. The study is motivated by increasing issues of intolerance and exclusive religious views among students, which highlight the strategic role of educators in internalizing the values of moderation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation involving PAI teachers, the school principal, and several 10th-grade students. The findings indicate that PAI instructors play a significant role in cultivating moderate attitudes by serving as mentors, educators, and role models. Through instruction emphasizing tolerance, justice, openness, and real-life examples in social interactions, teachers help enhance students’ awareness of diversity and respect within religious communities. According to the principal, M. Fathurrahman, M.Pd., the school is committed to educating a generation with noble character and a moderate understanding of religion. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including diverse student backgrounds, limited instructional time for PAI, and the influence of family and community environments that often promote exclusive perspectives. Teachers addressed these challenges through personalized guidance, reflective discussions, and the integration of moderate values into religious activities and cross-disciplinary learning. Interviews with students revealed positive changes in their attitudes and behaviors toward religious differences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms and strategies of integrating the values of Islam Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin (Islam as a mercy for all creation) in the learning process at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. Islam Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin emphasizes the principles of compassion, justice, tolerance, and balance in life. In the context of Islamic education, these values are essential to be internalized so that students not only gain knowledge but also develop noble character and a moderate attitude in practicing their faith. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through classroom observation, teacher interviews, and document analysis. The results indicate that the integration of Rahmatan lil ‘Alamin values is implemented through: (1) thematic learning that links lesson content with universal Islamic values; (2) teachers’ exemplary attitudes and behavior; and (3) habituation of good morals through religious activities in the madrasah. The implications of this study highlight that Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping a generation that is knowledgeable, moderate, and possesses commendable character.

Abstract

This study aims to determine prospective new students through the weight product method as a decision support system at Permata Mulia Integrated Islamic School. This descriptive study uses data analysis techniques, including the weighted products method, as a decision support system. The steps taken include: determining the criteria in advance such as: age, independence, learning readiness, parental income, alum status, and the presence of siblings at the school; determining the weight of each criterion and normalizing the weight, the normalized weight values sequentially from each criterion include: 0.26, 0.21, 0.16, 0.16, 0.11, and 0.11; determining the suitability rating between criteria and alternatives, calculating the S value by multiplying all the normalized weighted values, calculating the V value as an alternative preference which is then used to determine the ranking of each alternative. Based on the calculation results and ranking, A8 is the most recommended alternative because it meets all the proposed criteria. Meanwhile, A10 is in last place because it has the lowest score on the top priority criteria: age. Therefore, the selection of new students can be seen from the ranking results.
