Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is one of the 10 leading causes of death worldwide (Andriani et al., 2023). Indonesia ranks second in terms of cases after India. In 2024, the number of tuberculosis cases detected reached 885,000, with a distribution of 496,000 in males, 359,000 in females, and 135,000 in children aged 0–14 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and medication adherence among pulmonary tuberculosis patients in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Bengkulu City in 2025. The method used was a cross-sectional study, with data collected using a questionnaire. The population in this study were 37 pulmonary tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment. Data were analyzed bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The univariate analysis of knowledge showed that the majority of respondents (23 respondents) had good knowledge, 62.2%. Compliance was also found in the majority of respondents (64.9%). The statistical test yielded a p-value of 0.000, concluding that there is a relationship between knowledge and medication adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025. The researchers recommend that the Community Health Center improve health education and medication monitoring to improve knowledge and medication adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients, thus achieving optimal treatment success.

Abstract

due to impaired insulin secretion and function. In addition to physical impacts, this disease also impacts patients' psychological well-being, including anxiety. Anxiety can trigger a stress response through increased levels of the hormones cortisol and epinephrine, which contribute to elevated blood sugar levels. Data from the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center in Bengkulu shows that the number of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients continues to increase annually. This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and blood sugar levels in Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center in Bengkulu. This study used a descriptive analytical method with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 68 respondents, using a purposive sampling technique. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), while blood sugar levels were measured using a glucometer. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate levels of anxiety and had uncontrolled blood sugar levels. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between anxiety levels and blood sugar levels in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. The p-value was 0.000. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between anxiety levels and blood sugar levels in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus at the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center in Bengkulu City. It is recommended that patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus pay more attention to their psychological well-being, implement stress management, and undergo regular health check-ups to help maintain controlled blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Menarche is the first menstruation that marks the maturity of the reproductive system in adolescent girls. Changes in adolescent lifestyle, such as a diet high in fat and sugar, low physical activity, and irregular sleep patterns, are thought to affect the timing of menarche. An unhealthy lifestyle can affect the balance of reproductive hormones. This study aims to determine the relationship between lifestyle and the occurrence of menarche among female students at SMP Negeri 02 Kota Bengkulu in 2025. This study uses a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 209 seventh-grade female students, with a sample of 68 respondents selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire on lifestyle and the occurrence of menarche. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had a healthy lifestyle (38 students, 55.9%) and 38 students (55.9%) had experienced menarche. The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.019 (p ≤ 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between lifestyle and the occurrence of menarche. It is recommended that schools improve reproductive health education and the implementation of a healthy lifestyle. Adolescent girls are expected to maintain a healthy diet, physical activity, and sleep patterns to support optimal reproductive health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the public relations campaign management conducted by the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of Bengkulu Province through the Gerakan Ayah Teladan Indonesia (GATI) program in increasing fathers’ awareness of their role in child parenting. This research is motivated by the low involvement of fathers in parenting, which is influenced by patriarchal culture and the perception that childcare is primarily the mother’s responsibility. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation with informants selected using purposive sampling, consisting of individuals directly involved in the implementation of the GATI program at BKKBN Bengkulu Province. Data analysis employed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the public relations campaign management of the GATI program was implemented through four stages based on the theory of Cutlip, Center, and Broom: defining, planning, taking action and communicating, and evaluating. In the defining stage, BKKBN identified the low awareness of fathers’ roles as the main issue. The planning stage involved designing communication strategies, determining campaign targets, and selecting appropriate communication media. The taking action and communicating stage was implemented through socialization activities, parenting education, and the use of social media to disseminate information. Meanwhile, the evaluating stage assessed program achievements, community participation, and behavioral changes among fathers within the family. This study concludes that the public relations campaign management through the GATI program has been implemented systematically and effectively in increasing fathers’ awareness of their role in parenting. This improvement is reflected in the increased involvement of fathers in children’s education, family communication, and attention to children's health and development.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of independence education in Islamic boarding schools, which focuses not only on academic and religious aspects but also on practical life skills. The Mutiara Al Qur'an Selangit Islamic Boarding School integrates agricultural activities as a medium for character building among students. However, the success of this development is greatly influenced by the communication process carried out by the caregivers toward the students. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the stages of persuasive communication in shaping students’ independence through agricultural activities. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of the head of the foundation, boarding school caregivers, and students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and its validity was tested using source and method triangulation techniques. The results of the study indicate that persuasive communication occurs through five stages: informing, explaining, convincing, persuading, and obtaining commitment. At the informing stage, students are introduced to the objectives of agricultural activities as independence education. The explaining stage is carried out through direct practice and two-way interaction. The convincing stage is built through the example set by the caregivers and field experience. The persuading stage is conducted through a personal and motivational approach. The commitment stage is demonstrated by the emergence of initiative, responsibility, and active participation of students in agricultural activities. The obstacles found include the absence of written modules, time constraints, and differences in students’ readiness levels. The conclusion shows that persuasive communication is effective in shaping students’ independence, but its sustainability requires systematic reinforcement through a structured curriculum, activity documentation, and periodic evaluation.

Abstract

DPT-HB-Hib immunization is an important preventive measure in reducing morbidity and mortality in infants under five. However, adverse events following immunization (KIPI) often raise concerns among mothers, especially when knowledge regarding post-immunization care is still limited. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and post-immunization care for DPT-HB-Hib infants under five in the working area of the Lingkar Timur Community Health Center in Bengkulu City in 2025. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive analytical design through a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique on 80 mothers with infants under five. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most mothers had a good level of knowledge and carried out good post-immunization care. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and post-immunization care for DPT-HB-Hib. This study concluded that the better the mother's knowledge, the more appropriate the post-immunization care they carried out.
