Abstract

Menopause is the phase of permanent cessation of menstruation, which can cause anxiety due to a lack of knowledge about the physical and psychological changes that occur. This study aims to determine the effect of education using leaflets on the anxiety of menopausal women in the working area of the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Centre in Bengkulu City in 2026. The study used a quasi-experimental pre-post test one group design. The population consisted of menopausal women aged 45–55 years registered at the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Centre in 2026 (n = 442), with a sample of 18 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire to measure anxiety and leaflets as educational media. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test after the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. The results showed that before education, the average anxiety score was 1.06, ranging from no anxiety to moderate anxiety. After education, the average anxiety score decreased to 0.67 with no respondents experiencing moderate anxiety. The Wilcoxon test obtained a Z value of -2.333 with a significance of p = 0.020 (

Abstract

Baby blues syndrome is rarely addressed in Indonesia because it is considered unimportant and merely a side effect of postpartum fatigue. The Indonesian Health Survey (2023) found that 15.5 million postpartum mothers exhibited signs of sadness and gloom, with 1.1 million cases of baby blues. In Bengkulu Province, there were 479 cases of baby blues. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between husband's support and the incidence of baby blues syndrome in postpartum mothers in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center (Puskesmas) area, Bengkulu City, in 2026. The research method used was descriptive research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with a sample size of 86 postpartum mothers in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center (Puskesmas) area, Bengkulu City, in 2026. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test with a significance value of p < 0.05. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents (64%) did not experience baby blues syndrome, and the majority (75.6%) had supportive husbands. The bivariate analysis revealed a relationship between husband support and the incidence of baby blues syndrome in postpartum mothers in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area in Bengkulu City in 2026 (p-value 0.000). There was a relationship between husband support and the incidence of baby blues syndrome in postpartum mothers in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area in Bengkulu City in 2026. The researchers recommend that Puskesmas develop postpartum maternal mental health counseling and education programs to ensure optimal support for postpartum mothers, thus preventing the incidence of baby blues syndrome.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia remains a serious health issue. According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the MMR reached 189 per 100,000 live births. One important effort to reduce the MMR is through regular Antenatal Care (ANC) checkups. However, the national coverage of complete ANC visits (K6) has only reached 80.47%, still below the 100% target. The regularity of ANC visits is influenced by various factors, one of which is the level of knowledge of pregnant women. This study aims to determine a correlation between the knowledge of pregnant women and the regularity of Antenatal Care (ANC) visits in third trimester pregnant women in the Working Area of Telaga Dewa Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 60 third trimester pregnant women selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through knowledge questionnaires and maternal and child health (MCH) books to assess regularity of ANC visits. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 65.0% of respondents had good knowledge and 66.7% attended ANC visits regularly. Statistical tests showed a p-value of 0.004 (p < 0.05) with an Odds Ratio (OR) of 5.16. This indicates a significant correlation between the knowledge of pregnant women and the regularity of ANC visits. This study concluded that there is a significant correlation between pregnant women's knowledge and the regularity of ANC visits, so that increasing pregnant women's knowledge plays an important role in increasing the regularity of ANC visits and supporting efforts to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate.

Abstract

Globally, diarrhea is one of the leading causes of child mortality with approximately 1.7 billion cases annually and hundreds of thousands of deaths in infants (World Health Organization [WHO], 2024). In Bengkulu City, cases of diarrhea in toddlers showed an increase in 2024, with the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center recording the highest number of cases (Bengkulu City Health Office, 2024). Lack of maternal knowledge about personal hygiene is one of the risk factors for diarrhea in toddlers (Indrayani, 2022). This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal personal hygiene knowledge and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center Work Area of Bengkulu City in 2026. The research method used was analytical with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were mothers who have toddlers in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center Work Area. A sample of 67 respondents was taken using a purposive sampling technique with Chi-Square test analysis. The results showed that almost half of the respondents had good knowledge (38.8%) and the majority of respondents did not experience diarrhea (58.2%). There was a significant correlation between mothers' personal hygiene knowledge and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers (p-value = 0.000). It is recommended that community health centers improve personal hygiene education for mothers of toddlers, educational institutions utilize it as an academic reference, and mothers improve hygiene practices to prevent diarrhea in toddlers.

Abstract

Gout arthritis is a disease characterized by elevated blood uric acid levels exceeding normal limits, which then triggers the deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints. A recent analysis of the 2019 Global Burden of Disease (GBD) data shows that approximately 1.71 billion people worldwide live with musculoskeletal conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis (18 million people; 2.4 million YLDs) and gout (54 million people; 1.7 million YLDs). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of moringa leaf compresses on reducing gout arthritis pain in the elderly in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area in Bengkulu City in 2026. The research method used was a quasi-experimental study using a one-group pretest-posttest. Purposive sampling was used, with a sample size of 15 participants. Univariate analysis showed that before the intervention, the majority of respondents (66.7%) had moderate pain, while after the intervention, the majority of respondents (60%) had mild pain. The results of the bivariate analysis of the Wilcoxon test showed the effect of moringa leaf compresses on reducing gout arthritis pain in the elderly with p=0.001. There was an effect of moringa leaf compresses on reducing gout arthritis pain in the elderly in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area, Bengkulu City, in 2026. The researchers recommend that Puskesmas develop and implement non-pharmacological therapies, such as moringa leaf compresses, as part of their gout arthritis pain management efforts in the elderly.

Abstract

This research is titled "Representation of the Father Figure in the Lyrics of the Song Mendarah by Nadin Amizah: An Analysis Using Ferdinand de Saussure’s Theory". The aim of this study is to analyze how the father figure is represented in the lyrics of Mendarah through Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic theory, focusing on the relationship between signifiers and signifieds. Nadin Amizah's song Mendarah was chosen due to its rich lyrics full of symbols and metaphors, depicting the emotional relationship between a father and child who are separated. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotic analysis approach, identifying words, phrases, and stanzas in the lyrics as signifiers that form meanings or signifieds. The results show that although the word "father" is not explicitly mentioned, the father figure is symbolically represented through signifiers such as "a separated soul," "my heart has long been broken," "different homes," and "bleeding into." These signifiers reveal meanings related to emotional separation, internal wounds, and biological attachment that remain despite physical distance. This study demonstrates that the lyrics of Mendarah function as a symbolic communication medium, depicting a personal experience of the father-child relationship and illustrating the complexity of emotions related to family bonds.

Abstract

Based on global data, the WHO reports that 50–70% of pregnant women experience back pain during pregnancy, with an average prevalence of 56% (BMC Pregnancy & Childbirth, 2023). In Indonesia, the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) indicates that back pain is still a common complaint among pregnant women, while the 2022 Indonesian Health Profile recorded a maternal mortality rate of 189 per 100,000 live births (Ministry of Health, 2023). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of prenatal exercise on reducing back pain in pregnant women in their third trimester. The method used was a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-post test approach. The sampling technique used total sampling, with a sample size of 18 pregnant women in their third trimester. Back pain levels were measured using a numeric pain rating scale before and after the prenatal exercise intervention. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the univariate analysis of back pain before prenatal exercise revealed that the majority of respondents experienced moderate back pain, 12 respondents (66.7%). After prenatal exercise, almost all respondents experienced a reduction in back pain, with 17 (94.4%) experiencing mild pain. Bivariate analysis showed an effect of prenatal exercise on reducing back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester, with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The researchers recommend that healthcare workers, particularly midwives at the Zaihanna Muharamah Midwife Independent Practice, provide regular education and support to pregnant women regarding prenatal exercise as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce back pain and increase comfort during pregnancy.

Abstract

Hospitalization is an experience that can cause anxiety in children, especially preschoolers (3–5 years old). The unfamiliar hospital environment, medical procedures, and the child's limited ability to understand the situation often cause children to show anxious responses such as crying, fear, and uncooperativeness. The problem in this study is that preschool-aged children are still found to experience anxiety during hospitalization, so effective nursing efforts are needed to overcome this. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all preschool-aged children undergoing treatment at Bhayangkara Hospital, Bengkulu City. The sample consisted of 55 respondents selected using an accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used was a nurse therapeutic communication questionnaire to measure the level of anxiety in children. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most nurses implemented therapeutic communication in the good category (45.5%) and most children experienced a level of no anxiety (43.6%). The results of the Chi Square test with a value of 0.000 (≤0.05) statistics indicate a significant relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and the level of anxiety of preschool-aged children during hospitalization in the inpatient room of Bhayangkara Hospital, Bengkulu City in 2025. The conclusion of this study is that nurses' therapeutic communication plays an important role in reducing the level of anxiety of preschool-aged children during hospitalization. It is recommended that nurses continue to improve the quality of therapeutic communication as part of child nursing care, and that hospitals make therapeutic communication a standard in child nursing services.
