Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the imperfection of Emma s character in the novel Emma< em> by Jane Austen This research is qualitative research since the researcher collects data in the form of words quoted from the work itself to support the research This study used the feminist literary approach to explain the situation that occurred to Emma as a woman and how her character develops in that time as described in Jane Austen s novel Emma< em> The results of this study show that imperfection is part of Emma s character Jane Austen developed her most flawed protagonist within the confines of Emma Emma is imperfect due to her complexity and many more enticing things besides; her jealousness judgmental and selfishness < p>

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine whether the use of Quizizz game based learning applications can improve students vocabulary mastery or not especially in SMP Negeri 6 Tondano In conducting this research a quantitative method with a pre experimental design was used The subject of this research is one of the classes namely the ninth grade IX at SMP Negeri 6 Tondano totaling 15 students Data collection instruments were pre test before treatment and post test after treatment The tests were in the form of multiple choice and matching tests The results of this study showed that the average scores of the post test is higher 88 33 than the mean scores of the pre test 43 33 Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the use of Quizizz game based learning media was very effective and succeeded in improving students vocabulary especially on the meaning of words and equivalent meaning synonyms and making students more active and class learning more fun < p>

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the causes of resistance against Aristocracy in France Revolution as seen in Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities < em> This research employs a qualitative method which is richly descriptive In conducting this research the data was taken from primary which is Dickens A Tale of Two Cities < em> and secondary sources The historical approach to literature simply means that the critic the person trying to understand any work of literature looks beyond the literature itself to the broader historical The findings show that the resistance against aristocracy arises as a result of conditions in poverty that still dominate most of the community in which the community received improper treatment The government services to the community in Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities< em> were considered a failure and were made worse by the dirty and slum environmental conditions of the community which made the people angry and human rights violations also occurred The author views that the study s conclusions would encourage readers to evaluate literary works and comprehend the historical events the novel portrays < p>

Abstract

Louisa May Alcott s Little Women< em> has been a timeless classic in American literature depicting the lives of the March sisters and their relationships with each other This study analyzes the portrayal of sisterhood and female sibling relationships in Little Women< em> through a feminist lens Using a qualitative content analysis approach the study examines the themes and patterns that emerge in the novel regarding sisterly bonds The findings reveal that the March sisters relationships with each other are characterized by loyalty support and sacrifice reflecting the importance of sisterhood in women s lives The study also highlights the challenges and conflicts that arise in sisterly relationships including jealousy and competition Overall this analysis provides insights into the significance of sisterhood and female sibling relationships in Little Women and their relevance to contemporary feminist discourse < p>

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out how the dimension of curiosity is revealed in the main character of Enola Holmes< em> movie and to reveal the impacts of her curiosity The dimension of curiosity is analyzed by using the theory proposed by Khasdan et al< em> This research is classified as qualitative research because the data are in the form of words as the quotation that taken from the source The researcher collected the data from two kinds of source: primary source which is the script in Enola Holmes< em> movie and secondary sources which are the books dictionary journals articles and documents in internet related to this research After conducting this research the researcher arrives to the conclusion that the result of this research supports the presence of five dimensions of curiosity in Enola s character Based on those dimensions the researcher found that Enola can be categorized as The Fascinated which is the highest level of curiosity in types of curious people concluded by Kashdan and his fellow based on their five dimensional model of curiosity It also proves that curiosity influences more in Enola s life in the positive side The impacts of her curiosity make her becomes more independent and knows what she truly wants in life < p>

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of the Spelling Bee game in enriching students vocabulary This study was carried out at SMK Negeri 2 Tondano in which the subject was the 10th< sup> grade tourism department students which consist of 12 students This research used quantitative research through the pre experimental design with one group pre test and post test design The data of this research were collected by using tests in the form of pre test and post test The result of this research showed that the scores of the students in the post test are higher than the pre test The mean of the post test was 89 21 while the mean of the pre test was 58 49 It means that using the Spelling Bee game in teaching vocabulary is effective in enriching students vocabulary < p>

Abstract

This study intends to investigate the effectiveness of desert island activity in improving students vocabulary In conducting this research the authors used quantitative research through post test only with the experimental group and the control group This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Tondano The subject of the research is the 8th< sup> grade students at SMPN 2 Tondano The findings show that the use of the desert island activity is very effective in improving students English vocabulary skills It further supports that choosing the right game and educating greatly influences the output of each learner Therefore the importance of the desert island activity in the process of learning English vocabulary for students especially for the conditions of students in Indonesia with various learning styles one of which is the Minahasa Regency which has inadequate network access can make the desert island activity a good reference to be recommended to students < p>

Abstract

This study aims to prove whether the Word Game Application which is Wordscapes can help students to improve their vocabulary or not In this study the researcher employed the quantitative research method The subject of this study is class X J at SMA N 1 Kotamobagu which consists of 30 students 13 are boys and 17 are girls with an average age of 15 17 years old Data were collected using pre test and post test design in the form of matching tests The result of this study proves that the mean scores of the post test are higher than the mean scores of the pre test The mean scores of the pre test is 63 16 and the mean scores of post test is 85 83 Based on the results obtained it can be concluded that the Word Game Application which is Wordscapes can help students to improve their vocabulary mastery and make students more enthusiastic in learning < p>

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the inner structure physical structure as well as the meaning of the expression of love contained in the poem N he Des Geliebten< em> by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with library research as a data collection technique and a structural semiotic approach as a data analysis technique In the structural approach there are the essence of poetry and poetic methods while in semiotics there are heuristic readings hermeneutic readings and three aspects of signs according to Pierce namely Icons Indexes and Symbols The results of this study conclude that the interesting thing that can be expressed from the poem N he Des Geliebten< em> is that this poem tells about the extraordinary feelings of love from a woman for her boyfriend Even though they can t meet and are separated by distance it doesn t make a woman stop thinking about her lover The woman faithfully awaits the arrival of her lover every time And there are various expressions of love that researchers have found in the study of N he Des Geliebten< em> s poetry through three aspects of iconic signs indexes and symbols according to Pierce namely expressions of falling in love restlessness longing and desire < p>

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the modeling method on the learning outcomes of drawing animals of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 13 Dumoga The pre experimental design used is static group comparison design In this study the treatment was given to the experimental class and the control class as a comparison Data collection was carried out by giving a drawing test after treatment the assessment was carried out twice by an assessor Data analysis or statistical tests in this study were carried out using SPSS The results of the statistical group showed the average experimental data of 15 9250 with a standard deviation of 1 16161 and the control class averaged 14 5250 with a standard deviation of 0 52503 The independent samle t test results show a t value< sub> of 4 912 with a significance level of 0 000 smaller than 0 05 The statistical test results show that at p 0 05 with df< em>38 the t count< sub> of 4 912 is greater than the t table< sub> of 2 021 based on the results of the study there is a difference in the learning outcomes of drawing animals in using the modeling method and students who use conventional methods it can be concluded that the use of the modeling method has a more significant impact on the results of drawing animals < p>
