Abstract

Indonesia has main problems, namely basic education, the economy, and the environment based on the Global Competitive Index, which ranks 45 out of 140. The low level of eco-literacy is a serious problem that is of concern to the world for Indonesia. This is proven by Indonesia's crowning as the second country that contributes the most waste, especially plastic waste. Based on a national scope (assuming a population of 180 million people, the waste production rate for each person is two liters per day with a composition of 6.17%), the amount of waste accumulated in Indonesia annually reaches 1,599,000 tons. SDN 211/IV Jambi City already has rubbish bins that are differentiated based on the type of waste, namely organic and inorganic, however, the rubbish thrown into the rubbish bin is not grouped by type. Likewise, waste processing has not been managed properly, which has the potential to become a nest for disease-transmitting vectors due to the accumulation of waste behind schools. Ecoliteracy and one way of processing plastic waste is by eco-bricks. The solution offered is socialization and counseling about eco-literacy or increasing pro-environmental behavior as a basis that must be understood from an early age, especially the waste reduction paradigm, and providing technical guidance for making eco-bricks. The results were that students at SDN 211/IV Jambi City understood the importance of managing waste into eco-bricks and how to make them. Hopefully, this activity will continue in the future, and students can become cadres initiating plastic waste management in elementary schools in Jambi City.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are preventable and their risk factors can be controlled. However, most of the behaviors that are at risk of NCDs are often unaware of it. Based on preliminary studies on 259 students of the Public Health Science Study Program (Prodi IKM), it is known that students have never conducted basic routine examinations at least once a year (16.3%) and students do not know the concept of "CERDIK BEHAVIOR" (20.5%). This service aims to increase students' understanding of NCDs and determine the results of early detection of NCD risk. This community service program was carried out in the form of education on the importance of preventing and overcoming NCDs along with the detection of NCD risks, which was attended by 84 students of the public health science study program. Based on the pre-test results, the average reached 63% of correct questions, then increased to 74% in the post-test. Based on anthropometric data and blood pressure measurements, it is known that most have indications of normal body mass index (72.61%), thin (4.76%), very thin (5.95%), mild obesity (10.71%), and severe obesity (5.95%). In addition, most participants had normal blood pressure (64.29%), compared to pre-hypertension (27.38%), and grade 1 hypertension (8.33%). It is hoped that the examination of health conditions in S-1 SMI students will be carried out on an ongoing basis at least once every 6-12 months so that health status and efforts to improve it are known.

Abstract

The incidence of stunting in toddlers is influenced by the health of mothers and prospective mothers (adolescent girls) who are vulnerable groups, especially Chronic Energy Deficiency (CHD). SEZ is still commonly found in women of childbearing age (WUS) and adolescent girls. SMA Negeri 15 Muaro Jambi Regency is located in Mestong District, including rural areas with high stunting rates. This community service was carried out in May-July 2023 with stages, advocay, socialization, nutrition education and measurement of nutritional status (upper arm circumference, weight and height) in 10th and 11th grade adolescent girls totaling 71 people. There are still many students who are at risk of SEZ due to Upper Arm Circumference (LiLA) < 23.5 cm by 43.1%. Quantitative assessment was conducted pre and post-test before and after nutrition education. The average value of knowledge score before education was 4.54 and increased to 7.58 during the post test. The results of the Wilcoxon Test analysis found a value of P = 0.0001 which means that there is an effect of providing nutrition education to adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 15 Muaro Jambi Regency. Providing education about the risk of chronic energy deficiency and anemia has an influence on the level of knowledge of adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 15 Muaro Jambi. It is recommended to apply a balanced nutritional diet and take LiLA measurements in order to prevent SEZ and Anemia.

Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are the highest cause of death in Indonesia. The development of NCDs is increasing due to trends and shifts in disease patterns. Adolescents are at risk of developing NCDs due to risky behavior in unhealthy living habits, such as smoking, alcohol, drugs, unhealthy reproduction and eating patterns, and lack of physical activity. Mitra Ayu District Health Center's priority problem is the high number of NCDs such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cholesterol and high blood pressure. Partner location data includes teenagers who use drugs, smoke, drink alcohol and marry early. The aim of community service is to increase teenagers' knowledge using poster media containing health material which is stored in a QR barcode link, posted in public places such as schools, village heads' offices, babinsa, motorbike taxi bases, health centers, and in residents' homes. At any time, residents who want to read can scan where posters and health educational videos will appear that can be read with ever-increasing material. The activities carried out in community service are gymnastics together with physical activities, planting toga, health checks namely blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol, together with 5 health program students carrying out health education about drugs, smoking, reproductive organs and the impact of free sex. Abstract

Malnutrition cases nationally are still high, namely 21.6% in 2022. Limited knowledge and skills of cadres in monitoring growth and development affect the assessment of nutritional status (PSG) in children under five. Wrong methods of measuring and using anthropometric tools will give inaccurate measurement results. The validity and reliability of the data will influence the results and policy plans chosen. Campuses and the academic community must play an active role in assisting promotive and preventive efforts to overcome public health problems.Tangkit Village, Sungai Gelam District, as an Integrated Laboratory Village (DLT), is the village at the locus of integrated stunting reduction interventions in 2022, with the highest number of stunting cases in Muaro Jambi Regency, namely 127 cases. Kader Posyandu are volunteers or volunteers who carry out activities at Posyandu. During the last four years there has never been any posyandu management training or refreshing of materials relating to PSG using anthropometric tools so that the practice of monitoring growth and development for Kader Posyandu is important. The results obtained from this service are that the majority of Kader Posyandu in Tangkit Village already have quite high knowledge, good attitudes and good PSG practice skills. There was an increase in knowledge, attitudes and practices of Nutritional Status Monitoring (PSG) among Tangkit Village Kader Posyandu after Community Service activities were carried out.

Abstract

Smoking and tuberculosis (TB) are still health problems in Indonesia, Jambi Province and Jambi Municipality. Smoking is a risk factor for TB. Activities to eradicate smoking and TB need to be carried out in RT.08, Beliung Subdistrict, and need to be carried out taking into account the wishes of the chairman of RT.08, Beliung Subdistrict, to establish a Smoke-Free Zone (KTR) in that area. The solution offered is to create a smoke and TB free area. The aim is reducing the impact of smoking on public health and increasing the finding of TB cases through community-based activities. Community service activities that have been carried out include discussions with residents regarding planned activities to be carried out, outreach and education regarding KTR and TB, and declaring smoke and TB free. Activities to establish a smoke-free and tuberculosis-free area in RT 08 Beliung Village have been carried out well. This is indicated by support from various parties and the participation of residents in activities. There needs to be monitored and evaluated by related parties to ensure that RT 08 Beliung Village is truly free from cigarette smoke and TB.
