Abstract

Indonesia is a country that often experiences disasters because of its position at the meeting point of three major tectonic plates in the world. This condition makes Indonesia vulnerable to earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. One of the disasters occurred in Babokerong Village. Socialization of the importance of community preparedness for tsunami disaster was held in Babokerong Village, Nagawutung District, Lembata Regency. The purpose of this activity is to increase public awareness and knowledge about the importance of being prepared for tsunami disasters. In this socialization event, there are 40 participants involved. The results of the socialization show that this activity brings benefits to the population and is the first step in efforts to improve community preparedness for disasters in Babokerong Village. Thus, it is expected that the people of Babokerong village can be better prepared and responsive in dealing with future tsunami disasters. This service uses a comprehensive and participatory socialization approach, involving various parties such as the village government, BPBDS, and the community directly through face-to-face activities and interactive discussions. In this activity, the presentation of the material using PowerPoint presentation media that facilitate the delivery of material in a coherent and interesting, as well as question and answer sessions that increase understanding and community involvement. Abstract

Introduction: Menur Village is one of the villages dominated by rice fields and residential areas, so that most of its people work as farmers. In addition, there are also residents who work as factory workers or entrepreneurs to meet their daily needs. These geographical and socio-economic conditions cause the majority of the population of Menur Village to be in the lower middle economic level. The impact is that the level of education and literacy in the community, especially related to nutrition and dental health, is still very minimum. Objective: to increase public knowledge and understanding, especially pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and families with toddlers, regarding the relationship between balanced nutritional intake and dental health behavior in efforts to prevent stunting in children. Method: The method used in this community service activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR), where the Menur Village community is actively involved in every stage of the activity. Result: This activity succeeded in increasing participants' knowledge about the importance of balanced nutrition and dental health in preventing stunting, although there are still challenges in implementing a balanced diet due to economic limitations and low literacy. Conclusion: The active participation of participants, enthusiasm in discussions, and the involvement of Posyandu cadres showed that the educational and collaborative approach was able to strengthen community understanding and awareness of stunting prevention, so that it is expected to contribute to improving the quality of life and health of children in Menur Village.

Abstract

Introduction: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) continues to be a serious public health issue in Indonesia, including in Waru Village, Mranggen District, Demak Regency, where a rise in cases was recorded in 2024. Traditional prevention efforts such as the 3M campaign (draining, covering, and burying) and fogging have not been fully effective in reducing case numbers. This community engagement program aimed to enhance DHF prevention efforts by combining health education with the ecological use of home yards through the cultivation of mosquito-repellent plants. Method: The program was conducted by the KKN team from UIN Walisongo Semarang using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which involved active collaboration with PKK cadres and local residents. The implementation consisted of three stages: preparation, core activities (education and planting), and post-activity evaluation. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and reflective discussions with the community. Results: showed increased public awareness and participation in environmental hygiene practices. Residents expressed a better understanding of natural mosquito control methods and began planting and maintaining useful plants such as aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), and citrus (Citrus sinensis) in their yards. Interviews revealed positive behavioral changes and a collective commitment to sustaining these efforts. Conclusion: this program demonstrates that integrating health education with participatory environmental action can effectively strengthen community-based DHF prevention strategies and promote long-term behavioral change.

Abstract

Background: Hypertensive patients experience problems when their blood pressure increases and will experience premature death if not treated. The magnitude of the hypertension problem lies in proper treatment, the patient's ability to control the disease, compliance with treatment and stress management. Mulyorejo Health Center has made efforts to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients, but these efforts still need to be improved. Objective: The purpose of community service activities is so that people with hypertension will experience increased knowledge, decreased stress and blood pressure through progressive muscle relaxation training with classical music. Method: Community service activities use a quasi-experimental design without a control group. Measurement of knowledge using a questionnaire, stress using the SUDS (Subjective Units of Distress Scale) questionnaire and blood pressure using an Omron digital tensiometer. Then continued with intervention in the form of progressive muscle relaxation accompanied by classical music in hypertensive patients with lecture methods, questions and answers, demonstrations and redemonstrations for progressive muscle relaxation activities accompanied by classical music. Then, re-measure knowledge, stress and blood pressure using the same questionnaire and tools. The target of this activity was 20 hypertensive patient. Results: The results of this community service activity showed a p-value of 0.0030 for knowledge, 0.0001 for stress, 0.0001 for systolic blood pressure, and 0.0010 for diastolic blood pressure.
