Abstract

Introduction: Measuring growth and detecting development in early childhood is necessary. One of the efforts made to identify nutritional problems in children is by measuring their weight and height. Measuring weight and height can provide an overview of a child's nutritional status, both past and present. Additionally, it allows for the assessment of current physical growth rate and nutritional status by reviewing weight measurement results. Malnutrition has adverse effects both in the short and long term. Children with malnutrition are more susceptible to illness. Children with malnutrition may also experience a decline in intelligence, which could lead to reduced productivity in the future Objective: The objective of this community service activity is to assess the nutritional status of toddlers based on their weight and height at the Al-Fattah Playgroup in Katumbangan Village. Method: The method used in this activity was to conduct a preliminary study. The health examination of toddlers was carried out on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Katumbangan Village, Campalagian Subdistrict, Polewali Mandar Regency, targeting toddlers in the Al-Fattah Playgroup. Result: The results of the community service activity showed that out of the 10 toddlers who attended the activity, only 2 were male male and 8 female. The results of the examination revealed the lowest weight of 9.1 kg in a 43-month-old child and a height of 84 cm. Conclusion: The conclusion drawn from the community service activities conducted at the Al-Fattah Playgroup in Katumbangan Village is that it can provide an overview of the nutritional status of infants based on their weight and height. Additionally, the results of this community service activity can serve as input for us collectively regarding the nutritional status of infants and toddlers, as assessed through measurements of weight and height, thereby providing insights for developing future interventions to address the identified issues.

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a nutritional problem that can seriously affect pregnancy and fetal growth, including the risk of low birth weight (LBW), prematurity, and stunting. In the working area of Limboro Community Health Center, there are still pregnant women with a mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) <23.5 cm, which indicates CED. Objective: To improve the nutritional status of pregnant women at risk of CED through nutrition education and the provision of locally sourced supplementary food (PMT). Method: This activity was carried out through a preliminary study and counseling about the importance of nutritional status in pregnant women with CED, delivered using lectures, group discussions, presentations, and leaflets. In addition, supplementary food (PMT) was also provided. Result: The MUAC measurement results showed that 13 pregnant women (56%) did not experience CED, while 10 pregnant women (44%) were identified with CED. Nutrition education increased participants’ understanding of the importance of nutrition during pregnancy, and the supplementary food was well received. Conclusion: Community service activities conducted in the Limboro Community Health Center area demonstrate that nutrition education accompanied by supplementary food provision can improve the knowledge of pregnant women and support better nutritional status.

Abstract

Introduction: Preoperative anxiety is a common condition, with reported prevalence ranging from 60% to 90%. Such anxiety can affect intra-anesthetic processes, influencing biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. It may lead to increased blood pressure, elevated heart rate, and bleeding. Moreover, high levels of preoperative anxiety have been shown to correlate with a greater need for postoperative analgesics. Pre-anesthesia plays a crucial role in determining surgical outcomes; therefore, non-pharmacological preoperative management is essential. One such approach is Qur’anic murottal therapy, which has been shown to be effective in reducing anxiety. Objective: This intervention was intended to lower the level of preoperative anxiety among patients at RSUD dr. Soedirman Kebumen. Method: This service program was executed by the implementer assessed participants’ anxiety levels before and after listening to the murottal therapy using the APAIS questionnaire, with a total of 30 participants selected based on predetermined criteria. Result: The average anxiety level before receiving murottal therapy was 15.03 (pre-test), which decreased to 10.8 after the intervention (post-test). As a result of this community service activity, the majority of participants (23 individuals, 76.67%) experienced moderate levels of anxiety prior to the therapy, and this figure significantly declined to only 8 individuals following the administration of murottal therapy. Conclusion: Murottal therapy was found to reduce preoperative anxiety levels among patients at RSUD dr. Soedirman Kebumen.

Abstract

Introduction: Older adults are vulnerable to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) due to the aging process, lifestyle changes, and lack of health knowledge. The high incidence of NCDs among older adults in Karangsembung Village has not been matched by adequate health education. The implementation of CERDIK behavior is seen as an effective strategy to raise awareness and prevent NCDs. Objective: This activity aims to increase the knowledge of the elderly regarding CERDIK behavior as an effort to prevent NCDs. Method: The activity methods included a pre-test, interactive education on CERDIK behavior, a post-test, and observation of the application of behavior in the elderly at the Manggis Health Center in Karangsembung Village. Result: The pre-test results showed that most participants’ knowledge was in the adequate category (47.4%), which increased to the good category (89.5%) after education. Implementation of CERDIK behavior was largely achieved, with 100% compliance in routine health checks, smoking cessation, light physical activity, healthy eating, healthy sleep, and stress management. However, knowledge regarding the dangers of smoking (52.6%) and adequate sleep (89.5%) remained suboptimal. Conclusion: These findings indicate that health education effectively improves knowledge and promotes positive preventive behaviors, though certain areas still require reinforcement.
