Abstract

 Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji campur kode dalam ceramah ustadz Handy Bonny. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan campur kode ceramah Ustadz Handy Bonny, baik jenis maupun wujud campur kode yang terdapat dalam ceramah Ustadz Handy Bonny menggunakan kajian sosiolinguistik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari beberapa video dakwah Ustadz Handy Bonny yang diunggah dalam acun media sosial Instagram dengan nama acun #kajianustadzhandybonny. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik rekam, teknik transkripsi data, dan teknik catat. Sedangkan teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis data menurut Miles dan Huberman, yaitu teknik reduksi data, teknik penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) jenis campur kode ceramah ustadz Handy Bonny terdiri dari tiga jenis, yaitu campur kode ke dalam 8 data, campur kode ke luar 8 data, dan campur kode campuran 3 data. (2) wujud campur kode ceramah ustadz Handy Bonny terdiri dari lima wujud, yaitu campur kode berwujud kata 16 data, wujud campur kode berwujud frasa 4 data, wujud campur kode berwujud imbuhan 6 data, campur kode berwujud kata ulang 1 data, dan wujud campur kode berwujud klausa 6 data.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of substitution markers in the book Map of the Soul: 7 in BTS World, focusing on four main topics: Pendahuluan, Persona, Shadow, and Ego. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, the research identifies and categorizes substitution markers into nominal, verbal, phrasal, and clausal types. Key findings reveal 14 substitution markers in the Introduction (5 nominal, 3 verbal, 44 phrasal, and 7 clausal), 81 in the Persona chapter (27 nominal, 2 phrasal, and 6 clausal), 43 in the Shadow chapter (3 nominal, 34 phrasal, and 6 clausal), and 28 in the Ego chapter (11 nominal and 17 phrasal). The findings indicate limited verbal substitution, and use of phrasal substation frequently. This research discover variation of substutional level and chained substitution. This research enhances the understanding of grammatical cohesion in literature, particularly in narratives for young readers, by emphasizing the importance of substitution in maintaining textual unity and engagement.Keywords: cohesion, substitution, mots:7

Abstract

The object of this research is a movie entitled Meg 2: The Trench. This research aims to explain the leadership of the main character in the movie Mag 2: The Trench. This research uses a qualitative method with a sociological approach to obtain research data. This research uses leadership theory according to Bernard M Bass which will reveal Transformational leadership consisting of several leadership components and sociological theory from Swingewood which will reveal the leader's relationship with society. The results of the research based on Bernard M bass theory show that Jonas Taylor has four leadership components namely Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual stimulation, Individualized Consideration in leading exploration in the deep ocean. Then the results of research based on the sociological approach according to Swingewood's theory reveal the relationship between leaders and society. Jonas Taylor's relationship with the team and also the tourists is very well established because of the social interaction that is well built by Jonas Taylor.

Abstract

Idiomatic compounds in English often present challenges for learners, particularly those for whom English is a second language (ESL). These compounds, such as "brainstorm" and "blackmail," exhibit meanings that deviate from their literal components, leading to confusion in interpretation. This study investigates the processes involved in the semantic shift from literal to idiomatic meanings in English compounds. Using a qualitative approach, idiomatic compounds are analyzed through a semantic lens, identifying the cultural and metaphorical influences that shape their meanings. This study shows that English compound words undergo semantic shifts, with compositional compounds (e.g., "honeymoon") retaining some literal meaning, while non-compositional compounds (e.g., "blackmail") obscure the original meanings entirely. The findings illustrate how metaphor and culture influence the development of idiomatic expressions in language.

Abstract

This research intends to analyze the impact of internal and external conflicts on the main character in "The Yellow Wallpaper" and to understand how these conflicts shape the character's psychological state and overall narrative development throughout the story. This research employed the qualitative method and structuralism approach in discovering internal and external conflicts showed by the character in "The Yellow Wallpaper". The data for this research is a short story with the title “The Yellow Wallpaper”, written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Through the exploration of internal conflicts, such as the main character’sstruggle with her own desires and perceptions, and external conflicts, including her interactions with her husband and societal expectations, it becomes evident that these conflicts profoundly impact the main character's psyche and overall well-being. By examining the interplay between internal and external conflicts, this research sheds light on the complex dynamics at play within the narrative and underscores the significance of understanding how conflicts, both internal and external, can profoundly impact an individual's mental situation and welfare.

Abstract

Literary works are the creation of human works that are written using beautiful language and have aesthetic value and are able to attract the attention of readers to enjoy with taste and hope. Bumi Manusia is one of the novels by Pramoedya that records the historical journey of the Indonesian nation in the early 20th century. This study aims to find out and provide an in-depth scientific explanation of Class Conflict in the Novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This study uses a qualitative method with content analysis techniques. The approach used is genetic structuralism. The figures in Bumi Manusia are structuralism as a symbol of the social classes in Indonesian society. The figures who represented the social classes were Maurits Mellema who represented the ruling class, Minke who represented the intellectual class, Babah Ah Tjong who represented the East Asian class (Traders), and Nyai Ontosorh who represented the common people. Five forms of class conflict that occur in Indonesia according to the description of the structure of the Human Earth. The conflict is between intellectuals and nobles who in the text are described through the figures of Minke and the Regent, between the intellectuals and the rulers who are described through Minke and Maurits Mellema, the common people and ethnic Chinese who are described through Nyai Ontosoroh and Babah Ah Tjong, the people and rulers who are described through Nyai Ontosoroh and Maurits Mellema, and the intellectuals who are described through Minke and his brother Minke and Robert Suurhof.

Abstract

This article contains a discourse analysis of the meaning of roses and jasmine in songs and poems. The poem analyzed is "The Sick Rose" by William Blake. The songs analyzed are "Bunga Mawar" by The Mercy's and "Melati Putih" by Bimbo. The analysis was carried out using the theory of metaphor proposed by Lakoff. The theory states that metaphor is a way of thinking to sharpen the perception of reality. This analysis is a content analysis that is carried out qualitatively. By applying the method of metaphor analysis and the principles of discourse analysis, it is concluded that the meaning of roses in the poem The Sick Rose by William Blake and "Melati Putih" sung by Bimbo have the same sense, namely the destruction of love because those who come to love destroy it. In the song "Mawar" by The Mercy's roses are a metaphor for love, beautiful girls, and love that cannot be achieved. The author also found that metaphor is not only a way of thinking as proposed by Lakoff, but also a means of expressing emotions.

Abstract

The integration of technology in education, particularly in English Language Teaching (ELT), has become a crucial element of 21st-century pedagogy. However, significant gaps and barriers impede the effective adoption of technology by teachers. This study investigates the technology preparedness of English language teachers in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges they face in integrating technology into their teaching practices. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with English language teachers in a rural area. The findings reveal that while teachers perceive technology as an essential tool for enhancing instruction and exhibit confidence in its use, they encounter significant obstacles such as limited access to resources, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient professional development. These barriers not only affect teaching efficacy but also hinder students' engagement and learning outcomes. The study underscores the necessity of addressing these challenges through targeted professional development and systemic support. By aligning the findings with frameworks such as the Technology Acceptance Model and Constructivist Learning Theory, this research highlights actionable strategies for policymakers and educational institutions to foster a more conducive environment for technology integration. The implications of this study extend to improving the quality of English language instruction and preparing students for the demands of a digitally-driven world.

Abstract

Evaluation is always an interesting topic to study, this study highlights the ability of MAN 2 Jember teachers to create or utilize digital applications to conduct evaluations. The method used is qualitative descriptive. The results of the questionnaire showed that 100% of teachers were interested in learning Blooket after conducting a simulation at the beginning of the implementation and felt that the application of Blooket for this evaluation had proven to increase their understanding of culture in Jember Regency as a cultural response and became one of the fun learning efforts by implementing gamification content. In addition, only 34.5% of the total 65.5% of teachers have used digitalization in learning evaluations so that similar training or socialization is still needed in schools. In conclusion, teachers need many practitioners to carry out similar activities in the counseling of learning applications to support learning activities and welcome the 5.0 revolution

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis bentuk tindak tutur ilokusi dalam lirik lagu Abadi karya Dendi Nata dengan pendekatan pragmatik. Lagu ini dipilih karena mengandung ekspresi emosional yang mendalam, yang mencerminkan perasaan kehilangan dan cinta abadi. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis berdasarkan klasifikasi tindak tutur oleh John Searle, yaitu ekspresif, representatif, komisif, direktif, dan deklaratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari kelima jenis tindak tutur tersebut, hanya ditemukan tiga jenis dalam lirik lagu Abadi, yaitu tindak tutur ekspresif (6 data), representatif (6 data), dan komisif (1 data). Tindak tutur ekspresif mendominasi karena berfungsi untuk mengungkapkan kesedihan, kerinduan, dan keputusasaan, sedangkan representatif digunakan untuk menyatakan realitas emosional yang diyakini penutur, dan komisif menunjukkan komitmen emosional yang bersifat abadi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu dapat menjadi medium efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan emosional yang kompleks dan mendalam melalui bahasa.
