Abstract

This study examines the influence of competence, organizational culture, and discipline on employee performance at the Library of the University of Sumatera Utara. The research is grounded in the crucial role of libraries in supporting the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and the need for optimal employee performance to ensure effective library services and operations. Using a correlational and associative approach, data were collected through a survey using questionnaires distributed to all 71 library employees, applying a saturated sampling method. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to assess both partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on employee performance. The findings reveal that competence, organizational culture, and discipline have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.528, indicating that 52.8% of employee performance can be explained by these three variables, while the remaining 47.2% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The study recommends enhancing employee competence through continuous development programs, providing motivation to encourage skill improvement, fostering an adaptive organizational culture, and ensuring consistent discipline management. These efforts are essential to improving employee performance and strengthening the overall effectiveness of the institution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media usage on impulse purchases of viral skincare products and to examine the role of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) as a mediating variable among Generation Z in Makassar City. Specifically, this research investigates: (1) the effect of social media usage on impulse purchases, (2) the effect of social media usage on FOMO, (3) the effect of FOMO on impulse purchases, and (4) the mediating role of FOMO in the relationship between social media usage and impulse purchases. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design to explain causal relationships among the variables. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 180 Generation Z respondents in Makassar City who had purchased or were familiar with viral skincare products promoted through social media platforms. The data analysis technique used was Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The analysis included outer model testing to evaluate validity and reliability, as well as inner model testing to assess direct and indirect relationships using the bootstrapping method. The results show that all proposed hypotheses are supported. Social media usage has a positive and significant effect on impulse purchases and significantly increases FOMO. Furthermore, FOMO positively and significantly influences impulse purchases and partially mediates the relationship between social media usage and impulse purchases. These findings highlight the important role of emotional and psychological factors in shaping impulsive buying behavior among Generation Z.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance evaluation of the micro business Bucket Nessflower in Pasuruan City using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Resource-Based View (RBV) approaches. This florist business represents a rapidly growing creative sector among young entrepreneurs but still faces challenges in financial literacy and managerial capabilities. The research employed a qualitative method through literature studies and in-depth interviews using a purposive sampling technique to obtain relevant empirical data. The results show that Bucket Nessflower excels in product innovation and digital marketing strategies, which effectively enhance customer loyalty and expand market reach. However, its main weakness lies in the manual financial recording system, which limits operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making. Through the application of the BSC framework, it was found that business performance needs improvement, particularly in the financial and learning perspectives, to achieve long-term sustainability. In conclusion, the integration of financial literacy, digitalization, and innovation serves as a key factor in building sustainable competitive advantage for micro creative enterprises in the digital economy era.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in strengthening the local economy, particularly in the food industry. Tahu Pak Eman MSME is a home-based business focused on tofu production in Cigombong District, Bogor Regency. This study aims to examine the implementation of the marketing mix strategy at Tahu Pak Eman MSME and identify challenges faced in achieving sales targets. The approach used was a qualitative descriptive method through field observations, interviews with business owners, and documentation during the research activities. The research findings revealed that the implementation of the marketing mix at Tahu Pak Eman MSME is not yet fully effective, especially in product and promotion aspects. The quality of the tofu produced is adequate and stable, but the packaging is still simple and has not been optimally utilized as a marketing communication tool. In the area of promotion, marketing activities still rely on word of mouth and have not maximized the use of digital media. Improvement steps taken during the study include developing a visual identity for the business, such as a logo, and utilizing social media and online ordering platforms as promotional channels. It is hoped that a more integrated marketing mix strategy can increase competitiveness, expand market coverage, and support Tahu Pak Eman MSME in achieving more stable revenue targets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Augmented Reality (AR) features on user satisfaction in online transportation services and to examine the mediating role of customer value among users in Medan City. A quantitative survey approach was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 120 active users of online transportation services in Medan City, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression and the Sobel mediation test. The findings reveal that AR features have a positive and significant effect on customer value and user satisfaction. Customer value also has a significant positive effect on user satisfaction and is proven to partially mediate the relationship between AR features and user satisfaction. These results indicate that the implementation of AR features enhances user satisfaction primarily through increased perceived customer value. The regression coefficients show that AR features (X₁) have a value of 0.328, while customer value (X₂) has a value of 0.415, suggesting that both variables play an important role in shaping user satisfaction. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.587 indicates that the research model has a relatively strong explanatory power. This study is limited to Medan City and a relatively small sample size, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Future research is recommended to expand the study area and include additional variables such as trust and user experience to enrich the research model.

Abstract

The inequalities in the education sector in Indonesia that are the focus of this study include geographical, economic and education level aspects. In terms of infrastructure, only about 34% of schools in rural areas have adequate computer facilities. This study aims to investigate the effect of investment, poverty, economic conditions, and digitalization on education in Indonesia using panel data of 33 provinces during the period 2012-2021. The analysis technique used is static panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results showed that investment and digitalization variables were able to provide increased access to education equity. Conversely, an increase in poverty experienced by the community can reduce equality in education. Finally, national economic conditions have not been able to influence education equity. The findings of this study also detail the variation in the contribution of each province. The implementation of equal access to education in West Papua, Maluku and Aceh provinces does not depend on the four variables tested in this study. However, DKI Jakarta, Banten and West Java provinces are highly dependent on the four variables to improve equitable access to education. The results of this study contribute to policy recommendations for the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and local governments in creating equitable access to education.

Abstract

This study explores the reciprocal relationship between job performance and organisational commitment in the context of the Chinese food restaurant industry in Jakarta. Drawing on social exchange theory and triadic reciprocal causality, the study investigates how these two variables reinforce each other in a dynamic and socially intensive work environment. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from employees at several restaurant locations through a structured questionnaire. The analysis revealed a statistically significant bidirectional effect, indicating that job performance contributes to strengthening organisational commitment, while organisational commitment also enhances individual job performance. The regression model used in this study was validated through classical assumption tests and demonstrated strong explanatory power. These findings underscore the importance of integrating performance and commitment strategies in human resource management to foster employee engagement, increase productivity, and support long-term organisational sustainability. Practical implications include the need for equitable recognition systems, ongoing training, and the development of a participatory and supportive work environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the behavior and preferences of Generation Z consumers in online shopping activities in the digital era, using the Shopee e-commerce platform as a case study. As digital natives, Generation Z exhibits unique characteristics, such as a tendency toward impulsive buying, high responsiveness to discount programs, and a preference for shopping experiences that are fast, practical, and enjoyable. Through a literature review using a descriptive-analytical approach, this study finds that Generation Z’s shopping behavior is influenced by application ease of use, transaction speed, various promotional offers, flash sales, and extensive exposure to information on social media. Furthermore, their preference for Shopee is driven by the platform’s user-friendly interface, secure payment system, interactive features such as live shopping, user reviews, and the integration of digital wallet services that streamline the checkout process. The analysis reveals that Shopee’s success in attracting and retaining young consumers is strongly influenced by its ability to tailor digital marketing strategies to the psychological characteristics and consumption patterns of Generation Z. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for businesses and marketers in designing more effective, relevant, and adaptive marketing strategies that align with the dynamics of today’s digital consumers.

Abstract

The Indonesian tourism sector has experienced rapid growth, thereby demanding improvements in governance quality and the performance of regional government personnel, including those at the Tourism Office of Belitung Regency. One of the factors estimated to influence employee performance is work culture, particularly the CITRA work culture (Fast, Integrity, Accurate, Friendly, Safe), which serves as a behavioral guideline for government personnel. However, the effectiveness of implementing this work culture within the tourism bureaucracy still requires empirical verification. This study aims to analyze the influence of work culture on employee performance and identify the most dominant aspect of the CITRA values. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a saturated sampling technique involving 33 employees. Data were collected through observations and a validated Likert-scale questionnaire. The results indicate that the work culture falls into the good category (78.3%), and employee performance is also categorized as good (71.0%). The correlation value of r = 0.907 (p = 0.000) confirms a very strong relationship between work culture and performance. These findings highlight the strategic role of the CITRA work culture in supporting improvements in public service quality.
