Abstract

The system of agricultural land inheritance plays a significant role in the sustainability of rice farming and local food security. However, this practice often leads to land fragmentation, where agricultural land is divided into increasingly smaller units over time. The land inheritance system affects not only the technical aspects of farming but also has social, economic, and environmental consequences. In the context of Sakra Subdistrict, East Lombok Regency, this inheritance system has implications for the sustainability of rice farming. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of land inheritance distribution on the sustainability of rice farming as a means to support food security in East Lombok Regency. The research location was purposively selected in Sakra Subdistrict, with a sample consisting of 35 farmers who had already passed down their land to the next generation. Data analysis was conducted using the Rap-Farm approach by applying Multidimensional Scaling (MDS), a modification of the Rapfish (Rapid Assessment Techniques for Fisheries) method. The analysis revealed that the land inheritance mechanism is still carried out within family structures based on deliberation and mutual consensus. The regression results from Rap-Farm show that the economic sustainability dimension had an average score of 36.14, the social dimension 110.71, and the ecological dimension 35.07. These findings suggest that while social aspects remain relatively strong, the economic and ecological dimensions of sustainability require further attention and intervention.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop forecasting models for both the production and producer prices of cassava in Central Java using the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) method, recognizing the significant role of this commodity in the regional economy. Through time series analysis stages using 1993 until 2022 data years encompassing stationarity testing (ADF), model identification based on Autocorrelation Function (ACF) and Partial (Autocorrelation Function) PACF, parameter estimation using Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) atau Schwarz Bayesian Criterion (SBC), standard error with Stata 17, and residual diagnostic testing (white noise), the study identified ARIMA (2,1,1) as the optimal model for production forecasting and ARIMA (1,1,1) for producer price forecasting. The forecasting results indicate a declining trend in cassava production in Central Java from 1993 to 2029, contrasting with an increasing trend in producer prices. Supply elasticity analysis using the forecasted production and price data yielded a value of -0.76, indicating that the supply of cassava in Central Java is inelastic, where price changes do not elicit a proportional supply response from farmers. Although cassava is an inelastic and inferior commodity, the government still needs to play an active role in improving farmers' knowledge of technology and encouraging processing research to increase its added value and supply chain effectiveness.

Abstract

The establishment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) is expected to be one of the driving forces of the rural economy. The potential of the agricultural sector in the village is expected to be optimized by BUMDes to improve the local economy. However, in its implementation, BUMDes found various obstacles both in terms of management and human resource capacity. This study aims to identify the collaboration pattern of BUMDes development that works with industry in order to improve the local economy and identify the challenges faced both internally and externally. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the determination of the location and research respondents purposively. The results obtained in general are that the BUMDes that have been identified have collaborated with several companies or industries in the village such as the mining industry, forestry industry and oil palm plantation industry. The potential of the agricultural sector in the village has partly not been optimized and BUMDes has not been able to process agricultural products in the village into products with more added value. The common challenges faced by BUMDes are maintaining business sustainability and consistency, increasing human resource capacity, and supporting infrastructure. Therefore, involvement is needed from various stakeholder elements such as local government, village government, village communities, and university academics.

Abstract

Coffee shop “XYZ” faces challenges in determining the appropriate business development strategy to sustain growth amid the intense competition in the coffee industry. This study aims to identify the most appropriate business development strategy for the “XYZ” coffee shop using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach. Primary data were collected through questionnaires administered to three directors as key informants, while the analysis was conducted using the Expert Choice application. The findings reveal that the main priority in business development is to increase the number of customers and enhance customer loyalty, with human resources, particularly baristas, emerging as the most influential factor. Baristas play a crucial role not only in ensuring product quality but also in delivering service experiences that directly affect customer satisfaction and loyalty. The overall synthesis highlights the opening of new branches outside the City and Regency of Tegal as the most appropriate development strategy, as it achieved the highest priority score. These results emphasize that successful business expansion relies not only on market penetration but also on strengthening internal factors, especially the quality of human resources. It is therefore recommended that coffee shop “XYZ” prioritize an expansion strategy by opening new branches outside Tegal while simultaneously strengthening barista competencies through training and improved service standards, thereby ensuring sustainable growth in customer acquisition and loyalty.

Abstract

Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) from Bone has long been recognized, particularly in South Sulawesi, and the region is one of the main national production centers. Efforts to enhance the added value of breadfruit are carried out through small and medium enterprises (SMEs) engaged in processing activities. The Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Temmappettue in Ulaweng Subdistrict represents one of the local initiatives focusing on processing breadfruit into derivative products such as chips and flour. This study aims to analyze capacity-strengthening strategies for breadfruit-based SMEs managed by BUMDes Temmappettue by identifying internal and external factors and formulating appropriate strategic priorities. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and literature review. Data analysis was conducted using a SWOT approach, followed by the construction of IFAS and EFAS matrices to determine the enterprise’s strategic position. The findings reveal that the main strengths lie in the strong reputation of Bone breadfruit and the possession of business legality and product certifications, while the major weaknesses include limited skilled human resources and suboptimal use of digital marketing. Opportunities that can be leveraged include training and mentoring support from stakeholders and partnerships with culinary businesses, whereas the primary threats are the company’s limited adaptability to dynamic marketing trends and the seasonal nature of breadfruit as raw material. The SWOT mapping places the enterprise in Quadrant I (aggressive strategy), indicating that development strategies should focus on product diversification, human resource capacity building, optimization of digital marketing, and brand strengthening through product certification and business legality. The study concludes that strengthening breadfruit-based SMEs under BUMDes Temmappettue in Bone Regency has the potential to enhance competitiveness, expand market access, and contribute to local food security and rural community welfare.

Abstract

The silk industry in Wajo Regency carries significant historical and cultural value, yet its sustainability is challenged by limited raw materials, market competition, and underutilized local resources. This study analyzes the business model of Losari Silk using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework and explores opportunities for sustainable development. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied through observation and in-depth interviews with business owners and key partners. The results show that Losari Silk already has a solid business model, but further innovation is required, particularly in optimizing social media, improving raw material management, and expanding collaborations with government and private sectors. The findings also suggest that supportive policies are needed to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity through digital technology, wider partnerships, and better access to resources. Strengthened synergy among entrepreneurs, government, and private stakeholders is expected to create a sustainable business ecosystem, enhance competitiveness, preserve cultural heritage, and contribute to regional economic growth.

Abstract

The current situation in Tana Toraja Regency indicates that the capacity of farmers in Tana Toraja needs to be continuously improved so they can optimize the potential of existing land and commodities. Agricultural extension programs in Tana Toraja have been and continue to be implemented, but the extent to which these programs contribute significantly to improving farmers' knowledge, skills, and attitudes still requires further in-depth study. Therefore, this research is relevant and urgent to comprehensively analyze the contribution of agricultural extension services in improving farmer capacity in Tana Toraja Regency, so that it can provide constructive input for the formulation of more effective extension policies and strategies in the future. This study used the Likert scale method, a method used to measure a person's attitudes, opinions, or perceptions of a statement. The sample in the study was taken using purposive sampling. The results showed that agricultural extension significantly contributed to increasing farmer capacity, both in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitude change. The questionnaire results showed that the average Likert score was in the high category (3.77–4.49) for all indicators. Farmers stated that they had a better understanding of rice cultivation techniques (average score 4.49), pest/disease control (4.29), and were more skilled in using agricultural machinery (3.77). Most farmers implemented the results of extension training on their land (4.49), experienced increased yields (4.43), and were motivated to continue learning and participating in training (4.49). Overall, agricultural extension training in this region has proven effective in increasing farmer capacity, particularly in terms of technical understanding, practical skills, and positive attitudes toward agricultural technology innovation. However, strategies are needed to increase the participation of inactive farmers and expand the scope of materials on marketing and processing of agricultural products.

Abstract

Jagotani Farm is a farming business that develops premium melon cultivation in yard land using a semi-automatic drip fertigation greenhouse system. Utilizing yard land as a production site has potential but also faces various risks that can affect yield stability. This study aims to identify melon production risks and formulate risk control strategies. The study was conducted from May to July 2025. The research method used was a case study, with purposive location determination at Jagotani Farm, Mirit District, Kebumen Regency. There were 6 respondent farmers obtained through a census. Data were collected through interviews and observations. Data analysis used the House of Risk (HOR) method and resulted in three priority risk agents and formulated 10 risk mitigation measures based on the level of implementation difficulty and the effectiveness of available resources. Based on the results of this analysis, it is recommended that Jagotani Farm implement production management policies oriented towards risk reduction from the location planning stage. First, it is necessary to establish SOPs for yard land selection. Second, the greenhouse design needs to be adapted to yard conditions through the implementation of adaptive greenhouses. Third, Jagotani Farm needs to develop a crop rotation policy and sanitation intervals between cycles. Fourth, implement an Integrated Pest and Disease Management (PHPT) system. These policies are expected to reduce production risks and improve production stability, fruit quality, and the sustainability of Jagotani Farm's melon farming business going forward.
