Abstract

Pulmonary hypertension (PAH), seen in 20%-40% of chronic respiratory diseases, is linked to the severity of these conditions. Tuberculosis, a bacterial infection causing lung damage and impaired function, can contribute to this increased blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries, complicating patient outcomes by worsening both conditions. This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach, measuring independent and dependent variables simultaneously at a single point in time. It focused on analyzing the relationship between pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary tuberculosis in patients. The study found that most respondents were aged 51-70 years, with no significant link between age or gender and hypertension (P-values=0.091 and 0.655, respectively). Light smoking was significantly associated with hypertension (P-value=0.001), while nutritional status was not (P-value=0.332). Significant relationships were found between blood pressure (P-value=0.002) and spirometry results (P-value=0.000) with hypertension. Thus, blood pressure, smoking habits, and spirometry results were key factors influencing pulmonary hypertension in the 60 patients studied. There is a significant relationship between Pulmonary Hypertension and Tuberculosis patients at Ibnu Sina Hospital, Makassar, January - June 2023.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of varying K3EDTA blood volumes on complete blood count (CBC) results. Venous blood collection was performed using a closed system method. Blood was collected into K3EDTA vacutainer tubes with varying volumes of 1 mL, 2 mL, and 3 mL for each respondent, with a total of 10 respondents. The CBC parameters examined were WBC, RBC, Hb, Hct, MCV, MCH, MCHC, and PLT, using a quality-controlled hematology analyzer. Normally distributed data were analyzed using ANOVA, while non-normally distributed data were analyzed using the Friedman test. The results showed p-values > 0.05 for WBC, RBC, Hb, Hct, MCV, MCH, and MCHC, whereas the PLT test results showed a p-value < 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of varying K3EDTA blood volumes on PLT test results, but no effect on WBC, RBC, Hb, Hct, MCV, MCH, and MCHC test results.

Abstract

Avocado leaves and jicama contain antioxidants. Topical use of antioxidants can reduce UVA radiation which can cause skin darkening. Utilization of avocado leaves and jicama is done by making a peel-off gel facial mask. This research was conducted to formulate and determine the physical quality of a gel peel-off facial mask combination of avocado and jicama leaf extracts. The quantitative experimental method was used and four formulas for varying the concentration of the active substance were prepared, with a comparison of the total extracts used, avocado and jicama leaf extracts. The combination of avocado leaf extract and jicama  can be formulated as a gel peel off facial mask, with the results of physical evaluation have met the requirements.

Abstract

Medication errors are defined as any preventable event that may cause or result in inappropriate medication use or patient harm when the medication is under the control of a healthcare professional, patient or consumer. Medication errors occur when weak medication systems and/or human factors such as fatigue, poor environmental conditions or understaffing affect prescribing, transcription, dispensing, administration and monitoring practices, which can then result in serious harm, disability and even death. The purpose of this study was to evaluate medication errors in outpatients at a private hospital in Batam City. This study is a cross-sectional study with a retrospective data collection technique from outpatient prescription data in January - March 2022 at a private hospital in Batam City. The sample calculation used the Slovin method with 225 samples. The results of the study stated that the incidence of medication errors at the prescribing stage was 58 (37.7%) unreadable prescriptions, 20 (13%) incorrect doses and 5 (3.2%) inappropriate indications, at the transcription stage there were 11 (7.1%) unexpected drug reaction errors, 34 (22%) errors due to drug interactions, at the dispensing stage there were 22 (14.3%) errors in prescribing dosage forms, 2 (1.3%) due to incorrect manufacturing and preparation and 1 (0.6%) due to incorrect administration of damaged drugs. At the administration stage there were 1 (0.6%) errors due to negligence in giving drugs to patients.

Abstract

Rhodamin B is a synthetic dye in the form of a crystalline powder, green or reddish-purple, odorless, and in solution will be bright red with fluorescence or fluorescence. Rhodamin B is commonly used as a dye in the textile and papermaking industries. Rhodamin B can cause irritation in short-term exposure and has carcinogenic effects. This study aims to find out whether there is Rhodamin B in lipsticks circulating in the Padangsidimpuan City market. Samples were taken by purposive sampling and 5 red samples were obtained. To identify the presence of Rhodamin B, a thin-layer chromatography method was used using eluene as the phase of motion, namely methanol, ethyl acetate, ammonia (50:20:25) and a 254 nm UV lamp The results of the study showed that out of 5 lipstick samples identified, there was one lipstick sample that was identified as containing Rhodamin B.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to offer an efficient business process modeling solution to address issues in preparing the income statement for Toko Amanah Kepanjen. This study is a Research and Development (R&D) project that employs the ADDIE method, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. This method aids in designing a system that can identify and solve problems with a structured and systematic approach. The results indicate that the implementation of a web-based system is crucial to replace the existing manual system. The current manual system faces various issues, including difficulties in tracking revenue, inefficient data management, and the risk of human error in recording transactions. By implementing a web-based system, these issues can be effectively addressed through automation and data integration, thereby enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in the processes of booking and ready stock sales. The system also facilitates faster and more accurate reporting, and supports strategic decision-making based on reliable information.
