Journal in Islamic Studies published by the Institute for Student Studies and Empowerment IAIN Purwokerto. Subjects include textual study and fieldwork with various perspectives on law, philosophy, mysticism, history, art, theology, and more. Initially, the journal only functioned as a print and electronic journal media that accommodated and published research results from theses/final assignments and/or part of theses/final assignments for students of IAIN Purwokerto S.1 and S.2, from multidisciplinary sciences. However, due to later developments with a wider audience, the journal has managed to invite scholars and researchers outside the Institute to contribute. Thus, Indonesian and non-Indonesian scholars have enriched studies published in journals. Although from the start Raushan Fikr did not present highly qualified scientific articles, the improvement — in terms of format, style, and academic quality — never stopped. Now with articles written in Indonesian, Arabic and English and with fair peer-review procedures, Raushan Fikr continues to publish research and studies related to Islamic studies with various dimensions and approaches. Raushan Fikr, published twice a year (1 volume and 2 numbers) in January and July, has always placed Islam and Muslims in the main focus of academic inquiry and invited comprehensive observations on Islam as a theological belief and system of society and Muslims as those who practice religion with many sides. This journal, serving as a forum for Islamic studies in Indonesia and other parts of the world in a local and challenging global context, supports theme-focused studies and interdisciplinary studies. Raushan Fikr has become a medium for diffusion and exchange of ideas and research findings, in such a way that researchers, writers and readers from various learning traditions have interacted in a scientific way.

Abstract

The Islamic insurance industry continues to grow in response to increasing public awareness of finance based on Islamic principles. This study evaluates the service quality of the Sharia insurance provider AJB Bumiputera 1912, Medan Branch, using the Servqual method. Servqual assesses the gap between customer expectations and perceptions across five key dimensions: Tangibles, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 104 respondents. The analysis involved validity and reliability testing, followed by Servqual calculations. The results reveal that the overall service quality of AJB Bumiputera 1912 Medan Branch meets customer expectations, with an average positive gap of 1.6%. The Tangibles dimension yielded the highest satisfaction level, with a gap of 3%, while the remaining dimensions exhibited relatively minor discrepancies. These findings indicate that the branch provides a high standard of service, yet continuous improvement is essential to further narrow the gap between customer expectations and actual service delivery. Ongoing service quality evaluations are recommended to enhance the company’s competitive edge within the Sharia insurance sector

Abstract

This study aims to examine how social media content influences consumer choices, particularly regarding the behavior of visiting cafés and restaurants not solely for eating and drinking, and how digital content fulfills the sociological needs of consumers. The research focuses on female journalists who are members of the Ruang Jurnalis Perempuan (RJP) community in Makassar City. The findings reveal that social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook serve as primary references when selecting comfortable and trendy workspaces. Consumer choices are influenced not only by the menu but also by comfort, supporting facilities, and the ambiance of the location. Furthermore, cafés function as alternative social spaces—venues for networking, idea sharing, and creating collaborative opportunities. These findings highlight a shift in the meaning of consumption and public space, as well as a transformation in women’s work lifestyles in the digital era

Abstract

This study aims to examine the key determinants driving the growth of the middle class in Indonesia through the lens of Islamic economics, with particular emphasis on education, Islamic capital market investment, and Islamic bank financing. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes multiple linear regression analysis on time series data spanning from 2021 to 2024, processed using SPSS 25. The findings reveal that all three variables exert a statistically significant and positive impact on middle-class expansion. Education contributes to human capital development and employability; Islamic capital market investment fosters asset accumulation and equitable wealth distribution; and Islamic bank financing enhances access to productive capital, particularly for small-scale entrepreneurs and transitioning lower-income households. Collectively, these factors account for 87.4% of the variance in middle-class growth, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping the Islamic economic ecosystem. The results underscore the imperative to elevate financial literacy, broaden inclusive education, and improve the accessibility of Sharia-compliant financial instruments to accelerate and sustain middle-class advancement. Future research is encouraged to incorporate sociocultural and regional variables—such as urban-rural dynamics, religious practices, and digital financial behavior—to capture more nuanced influences and further validate the resilience of the Islamic economic model in fostering inclusive development

Abstract

This study critically examines the role of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (Ikatan Mahasiswa Muhammadiyah—IMM) in preparing functional cadres for student organizations (Ormawa) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). As an autonomous student wing of Muhammadiyah, IMM holds a strategic mandate in leadership development—not only for its internal structure but also to support the broader ecosystem of student leadership within the university. Employing a descriptive approach with a mixed-methods design, the study integrates basic quantitative analysis through percentage-based calculations and qualitative analysis using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis. The findings reveal that in 2022, IMM’s contribution to the formation of functional cadres in Ormawa accounted for only 4% of the total leadership demand, indicating a significant gap between the organization’s idealized role and its actual implementation. Key challenges identified include low student participation in the Darul Arqam Dasar (DAD) training program and insufficient cadre readiness in terms of ideological understanding and leadership capacity. The study recommends a comprehensive strengthening of cadre development strategies—both in quality and quantity—to enhance IMM’s contribution to student leadership sustainability at UMS

Abstract

This study critically examines the marketing strategies employed by PT. Bank Sumut KCP Syariah Kisaran to enhance the visibility and uptake of its Sharia-based Mortgage Loan (KPR) supported by the Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (FLPP). Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that the bank implements a marketing mix strategy encompassing product, price, place, and promotion. This integrated approach has effectively expanded the customer base and helped meet annual financing targets. Key contributing factors include excellent service delivery and proactive promotional activities such as direct customer engagement, which have strengthened public trust in the Sharia-compliant financing scheme. These results provide practical insights for other Islamic financial institutions seeking to develop marketing strategies for inclusive financing products, particularly those targeting low-income communities.

Abstract

This study reexamines Qur’anic verses on women through philosophical hermeneutics and critical gender philosophy to construct an emancipatory narrative affirming equality and freedom in Islam. Key verses such as Q.S. Al-Ahzab [33]:35, Al-Nisa [4]:1, [4]:34, Al-Tawbah [9]:71, Al-Hujurat [49]:13, and Al-Isra [17]:70 are analyzed using library research, drawing from classical and contemporary tafsir and critical theorists like Gadamer, Ricoeur, Butler, and Fraser. Concepts such as fusion of horizons, distanciation, performativity, and recognition justice guide a rereading that challenges patriarchal interpretations. The findings affirm that the Qur’an provides a strong ethical and theological basis for emancipatory theology, rooted in rahmah (compassion), karāmah insāniyyah (human dignity), and ta’dīl (justice). Women are positioned as autonomous moral agents rather than passive legal subjects. A justice-based reinterpretation is thus essential for building a transformative Islamic paradigm aligned with contemporary gender equality discourses.

Abstract

This study offers a critical analysis of the Dilalah Lafz ala al-Ahkam method (verbal indication of legal rulings) as conceptualized by Hasan al-Turabi, with particular emphasis on his interpretive approach to Qur’anic injunctions concerning prohibited forms of marriage. Employing a qualitative, library-based research methodology, this paper adopts a descriptive-analytical framework and draws primarily from al-Tafsir al-Tawhidi as the central textual source. The theoretical underpinning is grounded in the framework of mantuq and mafhum—a methodological apparatus developed by Khalid Ibn Uthman al-Sabt for legal hermeneutics within the Dilalah Lafz tradition. The analysis proceeds by identifying and cataloguing relevant Qur’anic verses addressing prohibited marriages, explicating al-Turabi’s hermeneutical approach, and subsequently assessing it through the lens of mantuq and mafhum theory. The findings suggest that al-Turabi’s interpretative method is consistent with the analytical strategies of the Mutakallimin school, especially in his reliance on explicit (mantuq) and implicit (mafhum) textual meanings to derive legal rulings.

Abstract

This study investigates the interpretation of maisir (gambling) as discussed in Surah Al-Baqarah [2]:219 and Al-Mā’idah [5]:90, by comparing two prominent works of contemporary Qur’anic exegesis: Tafsir al-Azhar by Buya Hamka and Tafsir al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab. Employing a qualitative, conceptual analysis through textual study, this research seeks to delineate the methodological differences in understanding the prohibition of gambling. Buya Hamka adopts a normative-exegetical approach, firmly emphasizing the moral and social corruption caused by all forms of maisir. In contrast, Quraish Shihab offers a contextualized hermeneutic, linking the prohibition to broader socio-economic dynamics within modern society. This paper further explores the pedagogical implications of integrating both interpretive frameworks within religious education curricula to enhance the moral awareness of Indonesian youth regarding the risks of gambling, particularly in its digital manifestations. The findings suggest that thematically integrated exegesis within religious instruction can serve as a constructive educational strategy to address contemporary moral challenges such as the rise of online gambling

Abstract

This study explores how the transformation of Dikili’s local wisdom supports character development among students at SDN 2 Bulawa. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, it focuses on three aspects of moral growth: moral knowing, feeling, and action. Moral knowing is developed through religious and social values taught during morning zikir sessions, emphasizing love for the Prophet, sincerity, and sharing. Moral feeling emerges from students’ involvement in preparing tolangga for the Dikili procession, fostering solidarity and cooperation. Moral action is seen in students’ behavior—actively joining Dikili activities, helping peers, keeping their environment clean, and showing respect to teachers. The study concludes that integrating Dikili traditions plays a key role in shaping students’ moral understanding, emotional awareness, and ethical behavior.
