Journal in Islamic Studies published by the Institute for Student Studies and Empowerment IAIN Purwokerto. Subjects include textual study and fieldwork with various perspectives on law, philosophy, mysticism, history, art, theology, and more. Initially, the journal only functioned as a print and electronic journal media that accommodated and published research results from theses/final assignments and/or part of theses/final assignments for students of IAIN Purwokerto S.1 and S.2, from multidisciplinary sciences. However, due to later developments with a wider audience, the journal has managed to invite scholars and researchers outside the Institute to contribute. Thus, Indonesian and non-Indonesian scholars have enriched studies published in journals. Although from the start Raushan Fikr did not present highly qualified scientific articles, the improvement — in terms of format, style, and academic quality — never stopped. Now with articles written in Indonesian, Arabic and English and with fair peer-review procedures, Raushan Fikr continues to publish research and studies related to Islamic studies with various dimensions and approaches. Raushan Fikr, published twice a year (1 volume and 2 numbers) in January and July, has always placed Islam and Muslims in the main focus of academic inquiry and invited comprehensive observations on Islam as a theological belief and system of society and Muslims as those who practice religion with many sides. This journal, serving as a forum for Islamic studies in Indonesia and other parts of the world in a local and challenging global context, supports theme-focused studies and interdisciplinary studies. Raushan Fikr has become a medium for diffusion and exchange of ideas and research findings, in such a way that researchers, writers and readers from various learning traditions have interacted in a scientific way.

Abstract

This study explores the comparative construction of mahabbah in the thought of al-Ghazali and Jalaluddin Rumi. Using a qualitative approach with comparative and content analysis, it examines primary sources such as Ihya' Ulum al-Din, Kimiya' al-Sa'adah, Fihi Ma Fihi, and the Mathnawi, along with relevant secondary literature. The findings indicate that al-Ghazali views mahabbah as the culmination of spiritual ascent, reached progressively through the maqamat. For him, love is the highest station, the fruit of ma'rifah, expressed in obedience and inner contentment. By contrast, Rumi presents love as the sole path to healing spiritual maladies, a transformative journey toward God through gnosis and mystical union. The study highlights how ethical and mystical orientations to divine love offer distinct yet complementary perspectives, enriching the broader discourse on Sufi spirituality.

Abstract

This study examines the profitability and break-even point of a broiler farming enterprise operating under a partnership model at Sikaf Farm, Manik Hataran Village, Simalungun Regency. Adopting a quantitative approach, the research is based on primary data collected through observation, interviews, and field notes. The analysis employed break-even point (BEP) and profitability assessment techniques. The findings indicate that Sikaf Farm exceeded the break-even threshold, with a minimum production requirement of 1,415 kg and a minimum price of 4,311.06/kg, while actual production reached 89,408 kg. Despite this, profitability measures reveal that the enterprise remains financially suboptimal, reflected in a revenue-cost (R/C) ratio of 0.81 and a profit margin of only 3.03%. These figures suggest that profits are still relatively low and that the business may experience losses during certain production cycles. High broiler mortality rates and inefficiencies in operational cost management constitute the principal challenges. To improve profitability and ensure the sustainability of the partnership model, it is crucial to enhance technical management practices, increase cost efficiency in housing systems, and strengthen collaboration with the core company

Abstract

The rise of conservatism and identity polarization underscores the urgency of constructing religious discourse compatible with inclusive democracy. Nurcholish Madjid's thought offers a synthesis of Islamic moral principles and modern democratic values. This study employs qualitative library research with a hermeneutic content-analysis approach, drawing primarily on Nurcholish's works and relevant secondary literature. The findings reveal that his framework constitutes an Islamic neo-republicanism characterized by freedom as non-domination, civic participation, deliberation, and public ethics. Unlike many neo-modernist Muslim intellectuals who remain at the level of normative pluralism, Nurcholish advances a more substantive conception of political freedom. At the core of his thought lies the rejection of all forms of domination - whether symbolic or through religious formalism - and the insistence that both state and religion must secure inclusive spaces that guarantee equality for all citizens. This study concludes that Nurcholish Madjid's Islamic neo-republicanism is not merely a reinterpretation of pluralism, but rather a paradigm of democratic citizenship grounded in progressive Islamic ethics, offering a substantive conceptual framework for strengthening democratic life in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study analyzes the operational management of the TMMD program in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure development in Selat Beting Village, Labuhanbatu Regency. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, utilizing William N. Dunn’s policy evaluation framework. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to assess the management performance of this government program. The findings demonstrate that the TMMD program has been implemented effectively with an achievement rate of 103 percent and efficiently with a ratio of 4.38 kilometers per rupiah through proper planning, execution, and supervision. Efficiency was achieved by optimizing resources and fostering cross-sector collaboration, while effectiveness was reflected in improved access, infrastructure quality, and community participation. From an Islamic economics perspective, the program embodies the principles of justice, trustworthiness (amanah), prohibition of wastefulness (israf), collective cooperation (taawun), and the pursuit of public welfare (maslahah).

Abstract

This study investigates risk management in social assistance programs in North Labuhanbatu Regency (PKH, BPNT, YAPI, and PBI BPJS Kesehatan), with emphasis on Islamic economic perspectives. Using a qualitative case study through interviews, observations, and document analysis, it reveals that despite formal reference to Government Regulation No. 04/2019 and ISO 31000:2018, implementation faces major challenges: mistargeting, data duplication, distribution delays, limited human resources, weak coordination, and inadequate technology. These hinder program effectiveness. From an Islamic economics lens, such flaws violate principles of justice, trustworthiness, and protection of wealth. Mistargeting denies the rights of the poor, while weak oversight risks fund misuse. Applying maqasid al-shariah demands strengthening data systems, improving human resources as a form of trustworthiness, and ensuring transparent distribution for maslahah. The study concludes that effectiveness and barakah (blessing) require integrating modern risk management with Islamic ethics, offering a governance model that is efficient, accountable, just, and sustainable.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the One-Stop Integrated Service (Pelayanan Terpadu Satu Pintu, PTSP) within the framework of regional autonomy, focusing on DKI Jakarta as both the administrative center and economic hub of Indonesia. Using a qualitative, library-based approach, the research examines the integration of Islamic legal principles—amanah (trustworthiness), adalah (justice), and maslahah (public benefit)—as normative and practical guidelines for governance. Findings show that these values reinforce good governance: amanah promotes honesty and accountability in the exercise of authority; adalah requires fairness and non-discrimination in service delivery; and maslahah directs policy toward collective welfare and harm prevention. The study concludes that embedding Islamic principles in PTSP governance enhances transparency, accountability, and equity, aligning administrative reform with the ethical imperatives of Islamic jurisprudence. Thus, PTSP can serve as a model that bridges legal, managerial, and moral-spiritual dimensions of public service.

Abstract

This study examines how operational performance, service quality, and accountability influence public satisfaction at Perumda Air Minum Lae Nciho within an Islamic framework. Motivated by recurring complaints of unequal distribution, poor service, and delayed responses, the research underscores public service as an amanah requiring ihsan, in line with the Prophet’s teaching on itqan. Using a quantitative design with purposive sampling, 102 customers were surveyed and data analyzed through SEM-PLS. The model showed strong fit (SRMR = 0.062; Q2 > 0), with operational performance having the greatest effect (beta = 0.573), followed by service quality (beta = 0.240) and accountability (beta = 0.187). The model explained 86.4% of satisfaction variance (R2 = 0.864). Findings highlight the role of amanah, responsibility, and maqasid al-shariah in improving service quality. Recommendations include structured distribution, an online complaint system, and employee capacity building. Limitations relate to regional focus and variable scope; future studies should integrate technological innovation and Islamic leadership.

Abstract

This study explores family resilience in the Banyumasan community through a socio-cultural perspective, drawing on Walsh’s Family Resilience Framework, the Double ABC-X Model, and Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. Employing a qualitative approach with interviews, participant observation, and documentation, data were collected from twelve households across peri-urban, highland, and lowland contexts, alongside community leaders, religious figures, and women’s group activists. The findings show that resilience is anchored in gotong royong (mutual cooperation), egalitarian interaction, and the cultural symbolism of the Ngapak dialect. Belief systems shaped by Islamic faith and Banyumasan pragmatism facilitate meaning-making, while kinship-based networks and neighbourly solidarity sustain economic and social survival. Direct, humorous communication reduces ambiguity and enhances collective problem-solving. Livelihood diversification strengthens economic security, whereas migration simultaneously improves material welfare and strains relational and educational dimensions. By linking these dynamics to national policy indicators, the study demonstrates that Banyumasan families exemplify resilience processes that are both culturally distinctive and policy-relevant, offering insights for culturally grounded and migration-sensitive interventions.
