Abstract

This research aims to provide an overview of how the implementation of small group discussions in the Department of Sociology FISIP Hasanuddin University and provide an overview of how the implementation of small group discussions carried out by students both internally and between groups. In addition, this study also aims to describe the factors that influence student learning enthusiasm in the small group discussion learning model. This research was conducted from 28 May to 14 June 2023 at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University. There were 63 students as respondents in this study, where the number was determined using random sampling technique. The research method used as a problem-solving instrument in this research is using a descriptive quantitative approach, using a research instrument, namely a questionnaire and direct interviews with respondents. The results of this study indicate that small group discussions have been quite good in their implementation at the Department of Sociology FISIP Unhas and small group discussions have also been quite effective because most of the respondents' answers show a positive response, namely being quite involved in the preparation and implementation of the application of small group discussions, although in their implementation there are still many respondents who pay less attention to preparation or planning before the group material is presented. The factors that influence student learning enthusiasm are the opportunity for all students to be directly involved in the learning process, the process of solving problems together, and the freedom to express opinions.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the mindset and personality of juvenile delinquency survivors in Pucung Village, Balongpanggang District, Gresik Regency, who have fallen into drug abuse. Juvenile delinquency in this area has become a serious concern, with impacts not only felt by individuals, but also by society as a whole. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through observation, interviews and documentary studies. The research results show that social environmental factors and lack of parental supervision play a major role in the occurrence of juvenile delinquency. Carol Dweck's mindset theory of fixed mindset and growth mindset explains the importance of changing mindsets in the recovery process. In addition, Gordon Allport's personality theory highlights the development of motivation from basic needs to higher goals. The results of interviews with former drug addicts and their parents show the challenges and changes that occur during the recovery process. Positive impacts such as improved physical and mental health are seen after recovery, although social stigma and family dynamics remain challenges. It is hoped that this research can provide a deeper understanding of the importance of mindset and personality in adolescent rehabilitation in Pucung Village.

Abstract

Jokowi's role and involvement in supporting Prabowo began before the Prabowo-Gibran pair's nomination in the 2024 presidential election. Allegations of presidential campaign violations were also directed at Jokowi when he showed his support for the pair, likewise with Jokowi's other actions that are full of interest. This descriptive qualitative approach using literature studies analyzes texts from several literature including news from online news portals. The texts are interpreted in such a way through data analysis techniques according to the research questions. The results of the analysis/research include: (1) there is a counter-narrative to Jokowi's role or influence during Prabowo's leadership as president; between Jokowi's continued influence and his diminishing influence; (2) predictions of Indonesia's leadership during Prabowo's leadership have the potential to be authoritarian or democratic; (3) predictions regarding the Indonesian economy during Prabowo's era, namely between being difficult to improve and Prabowo's optimism. Prabowo, Jokowi, and Gibran are the main political actors in the narrative that is built. The texts reflect the complex dynamics of political communication between the three main figures. However, political communicators from various circles are quoted in news texts.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period between childhood and adulthood, which begins when sexual maturity occurs.. This study aims to explore the understanding of children at Yayasan Naungan Kasih Kemuliaan regarding puberty and the importance of maintaining personal boundaries. The socialization activity conducted on September 27, 2024, involved six children aged 10-18 years, through an interactive approach that included presentations, educational videos, and discussions. Initial results showed that only five of the six participants understood the basic concepts of puberty. Participants expressed feelings of anxiety and confusion regarding the changes they experienced, as well as a lack of understanding about body boundaries. The education provided emphasized the importance of knowing oneself, the right to one's body, and the ability to say "no" to violations. Through a variety of learning methods, participants showed active involvement and increased understanding after the question and answer session. This study concludes that comprehensive sex education can increase adolescents' knowledge and awareness of reproductive health, and help them better face the challenges of puberty. It is hoped that this activity can be a model for sex education programs in other institutions, by involving parents and the community to support a broader socialization process.

Abstract

Art is an expression of the human spirit and culture used in showing beauty. Art is one of the fields that many students master, one of which is university students. The University of Jember facilitates the interests and talents of students in the field of Art with the establishment of the Art Student Activity Unit (UKM Kesenian). This research contains about the University of Jember Arts UKM, preservation and appreciation of Indonesian culture through Arts UKM. This study aims to (1) describe the Art Student Activity Unit, (2) analyze the questionnaire data and describe development of creativity,  and appreciation of the art of Jember University students. This research uses quantitative and qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. Primary and secondary data collection was carried out using observation, qualitative visuals, questionnaires, literature review, and direct interviews. Questionnaire is a way of collecting data that contains a series of questions distributed to students. Interview is an activity between two or more people to get information. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the development of creativity through UKM Arts is considered efficient and effective as evidenced by the implementation of work programs and achievements achieved by members of UKM Arts. Appreciation through UKM Arts is carried out by many students joining as members and participating as spectators. Appreciation not through UKM Arts is expressed by appreciation of batik, namely by using batik while studying.

Abstract

Disaster management is a process that involves understanding, planning and implementing measures designed to reduce the impact of disasters on communities and the environment and to reduce disaster risk. In terms of disaster management efforts, institutions have a huge role in society. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is a government agency whose scope of duties focuses on disaster management in the community to the regions. One area that is often hit by disasters is the watershed. Communities living around watersheds often face problems such as erosion of the land surface they live on, landslides, overcrowded settlements, sanitation, and flooding. Faced with this, BPBD participates in educating the community which is very necessary so that the community understands the problems and potential disasters that exist in their area. This study aims to determine how the role of BPBD Langkat district in educating the community in the Sei Wampu watershed area, Stabat Lama Barat village, Langkat district. The data collection technique used was observation and interviews. Based on the research that has been done, the results of this study indicate that the BPBD of Langkat Regency through the program to educate the community has succeeded in carrying out its role as a regulatory organizer, provider of services, and as a community organizer.

Abstract

Plagiarism is taking someone else's work and using it in academic writing as if it were his/her own. Plagiarism is a form of moral offense and people who commit plagiarism will get criminal and civil punishment if proven to do so. Plagiarism can also be seen as a social problem in the world of education that needs to be taken seriously so that people no longer commit plagiarism. Therefore, this article aims to analyze plagiarism in education as a social problem to find the root of the problem and emphasize the importance of character building as an effort to overcome the practice of plagiarism. The research method used in this research is literature study. The author analyzed several literatures on plagiarism and character building. The important finding of this research is that plagiarism is rooted in the mentality of people who knowingly and willingly take other people's works for their own benefit even though they know that such actions are not allowed. In response to this, the author emphasizes the importance of character building as a means of forming a solid self so as not to be trapped in the practice of plagiarism. The author concludes that plagiarism is a practice that harms the dignity of education. Therefore, we must give an attention to implement character building as the basis of one's moral life to avoid plagiarism.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze consumer satisfaction perceptions towards UD. Tyyana Coffee in Aek Sabaon Village, Tapanuli Selatan, conducted in May 2024 using accidental sampling and quantitative data analysis. Consumer satisfaction is measured based on loyalty, location, service, and coffee taste. The results show that customer loyalty falls into the "Satisfied" category with an average score of 3.60. The indicator of purchase frequency received the highest score (3.78), while repeat purchase frequency had the lowest (3.43), indicating opportunities for increasing loyalty. Regarding location, comfort received the highest score (4.53), but strategic location scored the lowest (4.04). Service was rated with an average score of 4.28, with friendliness as the highest aspect (4.30). Coffee taste showed the richness of coffee as the highest indicator (4.35), while flavor received the lowest score (4.05). Overall, consumers are satisfied with various aspects offered by UD. Tyyana Coffee, from a comfortable location and friendly service to its unique coffee taste.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the kinds of swear word that the boy uttered and the reason why he uttered the swear words in Medan. The subject of this research is an Indonesian boy named RAS. He is 7 years old. This research used descriptive qualitative design.  The data was taken from conversation of RAS. The conversation was taken from recording technique and observing technique. The research recorded and observed RAS while played with his friends. The result shows that There are four types of swear word that are found in RAS utterances. They are: Excretory Term (tai, kentut), Body function Term (kepala, pantat), Animal Term (monyet,anjing, babi), Death term (mati). Furthermore, there are three reasons why speakers utter swear words, among others: Power and Control, Humor, and Self- Expression. The findings emphasize that the context in which swearing occurs is essential in understanding why certain words are chosen and what purpose they serve in the conversation.

Abstract

Employee loyalty reflects the commitment of employees to their company, fostering a sense of responsibility and belonging. It goes beyond simply staying with the organization; it involves employees feeling integrated within the company, which helps them maximize their performance. One key factor influencing employee loyalty is leadership style. The effectiveness of any leadership style depends greatly on the situational context in which it is applied. Therefore, understanding how leadership style impacts employee loyalty is essential. This research identified specific elements of leadership style that negatively and significantly affect employee loyalty at Furamaxclusive Resort and Villas Ubud. The study found that leadership style accounts for 56.1% of employee loyalty, indicating a substantial influence. However, 43.9% of the variance in employee loyalty is attributed to other factors that were not explored in this study. In conclusion, while leadership style plays a major role in fostering employee loyalty, organizations should also consider other factors such as work environment, career development, and employee recognition to enhance overall loyalty. Addressing these elements holistically can result in more loyal and dedicated employees.
