Abstract

Armyworm (Spodoptera sp.) is a polyphagous pest that has a wide range of hosts. This pest can attack when the plants are still young until almost harvest ((Oktober et al., 2024)). Therefore, controlling this pest needs to be done wisely. The continuous use of chemical pesticides will damage the environment and is harmful to the sustainability of the ecosystem. One alternative control that is quite popular is vegetable pesticides. Many vegetable sources have the potential to be developed. Patchouli leaves are one of the potential vegetable sources in controlling armyworm pests. The purpose of this study was to determine the toxicity of patchouli leaf extract in controlling armyworm pests. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 10 treatments and 3 replicates. The treatments of this study are K = Control or no treatment, P1 = 1% solid extract, P2 = 2% solid extract, P3 = 3% solid extract, C1 = 1% liquid extract, C2 = 2% liquid extract, C3 = 3% liquid extract, A1 = 1% essential oil, A2 = 2% essential oil and A3 = 3% essential oil. Observations were made in the laboratory. Observations made include mortality observations and GCMS tests of each patchouli leaf extract formulation. The highest mortality parameter was shown by the essential oil formulation. LC50 could only be shown by the essential oil formulation with a concentration value of 0.839 ppm.

Abstract

Penyuluhan pertanian memainkan peran krusial dalam menyampaikan informasi dan inovasi, termasuk praktik pertanian ramah lingkungan dan strategi pengelolaan sumber daya alam yang efisien. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat penggunaan dan keragaman saluran komunikasi yang digunakan petani di Kabupaten Bone Bolango, khususnya terkait informasi pertanian organik. Lokasi dipilih secara sengaja (purposive) dengan pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari 3.346 rumah tangga usaha pertanian (petani padi, jagung, dan hortikultura) di Kecamatan Bulango Utara, Bulango Ulu, dan Kabila. Sampel berjumlah 76 responden, ditentukan menggunakan rumus Slovin dan dipilih melalui accidental sampling. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan melalui wawancara tatap muka menggunakan kuesioner dan pengumpulan data sekunder dari observasi, wawancara, tinjauan pustaka, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan uji korelasi Spearman. Korelasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan smartphone memiliki korelasi sangat signifikan dengan pengalaman petani (p value < 0.001, koefisien korelasi 0.304), yang mengindikasikan bahwa smartphone dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman petani. Oleh karena itu, strategi komunikasi penyuluhan pertanian sebaiknya difokuskan pada pemanfaatan smartphone sebagai media utama penyampaian informasi dan inovasi, didukung oleh evaluasi dan dukungan terhadap ketersediaan perangkat TIK untuk memastikan penyuluhan yang optimal, efektif, dan efisien. Abstract

Granule-Bound Starch Synthase I (GBSSI) merupakan enzim kunci dalam biosintesis amilosa yang menentukan sifat fungsional pati pada padi (Oryza sativa L.). Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji karakteristik molekuler gen GBSSI secara in silico melalui analisis sekuens, konservasi nukleotida, anotasi domain, serta prediksi struktur protein. Sebanyak 13 pasangan transkrip–protein diperoleh dari basis data NCBI, mencakup sekuens terkurasi RefSeq (NM/NP) dan hasil prediksi (XM/XP). Panjang coding sequence berkisar antara 1.827–1.836 nukleotida dengan panjang protein 608–611 asam amino, menunjukkan tingkat homogenitas yang tinggi antar isoform. Multiple sequence alignment menggunakan Clustal Omega mengungkap dominasi wilayah konservatif pada CDS, terutama di bagian awal gen, disertai variasi terbatas yang diduga tidak mengganggu fungsi katalitik utama. Salah satu sekuens RefSeq, NM_001402723.1, dipilih sebagai representatif untuk analisis lanjutan. Translasi dan penentuan open reading frame menunjukkan keberadaan kerangka baca lengkap, sementara anotasi domain mengidentifikasi motif glikosiltransferase serta situs pengikatan ADP-glukosa khas starch synthase tanaman. Prediksi struktur tiga dimensi berbasis AlphaFold menghasilkan model dengan tingkat kepercayaan tinggi dan kesesuaian penuh terhadap protein referensi UniProt.Secara keseluruhan, hasil ini menegaskan konservasi struktural GBSSI pada padi dan menyediakan kerangka molekuler untuk menafsirkan implikasi variasi sekuens terhadap jalur metabolisme pati serta sifat mutu beras.

Abstract

Peanut production in Jember Regency from 2020 to 2024 has experienced a significant decline. One of the contributing factors is the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers. Therefore, it is necessary to apply cultivation techniques that can restore soil fertility, such as biochar application. This study aimed to analyze the growth and yield responses of two peanut varieties to the application of coconut shell biochar. The research was conducted from June to November 2025 in Patemon Village, Pakusari District, Jember Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The experimental design used was a factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was peanut variety, consisting of two levels: Katana 2 and Tala 1. The second factor was the dose of coconut shell biochar, consisting of five levels: 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 tons ha⁻¹. The observed variables included plant height, number of leaf stalks, number of branches, pod weight per plot, number of filled pods, weight of fresh filled pods, weight of dry filled pods, and 100-seed weight per plot. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). When significant differences were detected, further analysis was performed using the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The results showed that a biochar dose of 20 tons ha⁻¹ produced the highest number of filled pods, while a dose of 15 tons ha⁻¹ resulted in the highest fresh filled pod weight.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of varying amounts of liquid tempeh waste fertilizer on the growth and yield of romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. longifolia). This study will be conducted in Gabus Kulon Village, Langgen Wetan District, Gabus Wetan Regency, Indramayu Regency, between August and October 2024. A straightforward Randomized Group Design (RAK) will be employed for this experimental setup. There will be four distinct treatments in this study, each replicated six times, with each treatment comprising six experimental plants and three samples taken from each plot. The treatments will include the tempe waste liquid fertilizer applied at different levels: P0 (control), P1 (30% concentration), P2 (60% concentration), and P3 (90% concentration). Findings from this study indicated that the application of different concentrations of tempe waste liquid fertilizer significantly affected the growth parameters of the plants, including height, leaf count, length of the leaves, and the fresh weight of the romaine lettuce, with the optimal concentration being 30% (P1), which resulted in the highest fresh weight of the plants at 24.56 grams. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of empowerment of coffee–goat integrated farmers and the factors influencing it in Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency, Indonesia. The research site was purposively selected due to its status as a coffee production center where farmers commonly integrate coffee farming with goat husbandry. A census sampling method was applied to 33 farmers who are members of farmer groups assisted by the Starbucks Farmer Support Center (SFSC). Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires and interviews, while secondary data were obtained from relevant institutions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with a Likert scale to measure the Farmer Empowerment Index (FEI), and multiple linear regression to identify determinants of empowerment. The results indicate that farmer empowerment is categorized as strong to very strong, with the highest scores in decision-making ability (82.12%) and partnership and networking capacity (81.81%). Partially, farmers’ interest, participation, and the role of extension agents have a positive and significant effect on empowerment, with the role of extension agents emerging as the most dominant variable. Local culture shows a positive but statistically insignificant effect. Simultaneously, the regression model demonstrates strong explanatory power (R² = 0.716), indicating that 71.6% of the variation in empowerment is explained by the variables included in the model. These findings confirm that empowerment in integrated farming systems requires a systemic approach that combines individual capacity and institutional support to achieve sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract

Red skin Gnetum gnemon L. (melinjo) contains flavonoid and phenolic compounds and also has antioxidant activity. The chemical content of a plant can be affected by the environment in which it grows. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity and to stipulated the total flavonoid and phenolic content of red melinjo skin extracts from three growing places. Red melinjo skin were extracted with 70% ethanol using ultrasonic method. Determination of antioxidant using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) with ascorbic acid as a standard and measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 516 nm. The IC50 value was calculated by linear regression analysis between the concentration series and % inhibition. Determination of total flavonoid content using AlCl3 reagent with quercetin as a standard, meanwhile total phenolic content using Folin-ciocalteu reagent with gallic acid as a standard. Both measurements were carried out spectrophotometrically. IC50 value, total flavonoid and phenolic content were analyzed statistically by One Way Anova, continued with the Post Hoc Bonferroni. The results of antioxidant activity obtained IC50 values in the lowlands of 84.87±0.211 µg/mL, mediumlands 76.39±0.159 µg/mL and highlands 70.46±0.548 µg/mL. The total flavonoid and phenolic content increased along with height grow. The total flavonoid and phenolic content obtained from the highlands was 9.82±0.053 mgQE/g and 39.21±0.361 mgGAE/g. The antioxidant activity of red melinjo skin extracts from various height grow had a strong category (IC50 50-100 g/mL) and statistical results showed significant differences in IC50 value with total flavonoid and phenolic content.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh atribut inovasi, keunggulan relatif, kompatibilitas, kompleksitas, triabilitas, dan observabilitas terhadap tingkat produksi usaha tani di lahan gambut Kabupaten Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei diterapkan terhadap 61 petani di Kecamatan Gambut dan Kecamatan Aluh-Aluh yang dipilih secara purposive. Data primer dihimpun melalui kuesioner berstruktur menggunakan skala Likert empat poin dan dianalisis menggunakan model regresi berganda log-linear (Cobb-Douglas). Hasil uji F menunjukkan kelima atribut inovasi secara simultan berpengaruh sangat signifikan terhadap tingkat produksi (F = 302,533; Sig. = 0,000; R² = 0,965). Secara parsial, kompatibilitas (b = −0,564; Sig. = 0,000) dan triabilitas (b = −0,373; Sig. = 0,006) berpengaruh negatif signifikan; kompleksitas berpengaruh positif signifikan (b = 0,877; Sig. = 0,000); serta observabilitas merupakan variabel paling dominan dengan pengaruh negatif terbesar (b = −0,942; β = −0,539; Sig. = 0,000). Keunggulan relatif tidak berpengaruh signifikan secara parsial (Sig. = 0,907). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kondisi lahan gambut menciptakan pola adopsi inovasi yang berbeda dari apa yang diperkirakan oleh teori Difusi Inovasi Rogers, inovasi yang lebih kompleks justru meningkatkan hasil produksi, sedangkan kecenderungan untuk menunggu dan mengamati secara lebih intensif (observabilitas tinggi) memiliki dampak negative terhadap hasil produksi.

Abstract

This study focuses on the supply chain management of palm sugar (gula semut aren) at PT Sentra Mulia Sejahtera, located in Polohungo Village, Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency. The company faces several challenges, including limited raw material supply, dependence on traditional processing methods, and fluctuating demand, which often hinder its ability to meet customer needs consistently.The research aims to (1) describe the structure of the palm sugar supply chain, and (2) analyze the performance of supply chain management at PT Sentra Mulia Sejahtera. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied using surveys, interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) model and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which served to evaluate supply chain performance across key dimensions. The findings reveal that the supply chain structure consists of farmers as raw material suppliers, the company as the processor, and distributors such as outlets and supermarkets that deliver the products to end consumers. Performance measurement using the SCOR framework indicated a score of 76.25%, categorized as “Good.” The company showed strong performance in reliability and responsiveness, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining product quality. Cost efficiency and asset management were also adequate. However, agility remained a limitation due to dependence on seasonal factors, transportation barriers, and farmers’ supply capacity.In conclusion, enhancing collaboration with farmers, introducing modern processing technologies, and strengthening government support in terms of training and financing are crucial to improving competitiveness and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the palm sugar supply chain in Gorontalo. Perusahaan menghadapi beberapa tantangan, termasuk pasokan bahan baku yang terbatas, ketergantungan pada metode pemrosesan tradisional, dan permintaan yang berfluktuasi, yang seringkali menghambat kemampuannya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan secara konsisten. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan struktur rantai pasok gula aren, dan (2) menganalisis kinerja manajemen rantai pasok di PT Sentra Mulia Sejahtera. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif diterapkan menggunakan survei, wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis melalui model Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) dan Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), yang berfungsi untuk mengevaluasi kinerja rantai pasokan di seluruh dimensi utama. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa struktur rantai pasok terdiri dari petani sebagai pemasok bahan baku, perusahaan sebagai pengolah, dan distributor seperti gerai dan supermarket yang mengirimkan produk ke konsumen akhir. Pengukuran kinerja menggunakan kerangka kerja SCOR menunjukkan skor 76,35%, dikategorikan sebagai "Baik". Perusahaan menunjukkan kinerja yang kuat dalam aspek keandalan dan daya tanggap, dengan memastikan pengiriman tepat waktu serta menjaga kualitas produk. Efisiensi biaya dan pengelolaan aset juga berada pada tingkat yang memadai. Namun demikian, aspek kelincahan masih menjadi keterbatasan karena ketergantungan pada faktor musiman, hambatan transportasi, serta kapasitas pasokan dari petani. Sebagai kesimpulan, peningkatan kerja sama dengan petani, penerapan teknologi pengolahan modern, serta penguatan dukungan pemerintah dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pembiayaan sangat penting untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan menjamin keberlanjutan jangka panjang rantai pasok gula aren di Gorontalo.
