Abstract

The development of digital technology has fundamentally changed the structure and dynamics of social life, creating digital space as a new arena for social interaction, meaning-making, and the distribution of social risk. This article aims to map digital space as an area of social work practice by examining its characteristics, opportunities, and emerging challenges. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach through critical literature review and conceptual analysis, this study highlights that digital space functions not only as a means of communication but also as a social ecosystem that shapes relations of power, identity, and participation, and gives rise to new forms of vulnerability, such as online violence, unequal digital access, disinformation, and the exploitation of personal data. The study's findings indicate that social work practice in the digital era requires a redefinition of the role of social workers, from mere providers of conventional services to agents capable of conducting technology-based interventions with preventive, promotive, and advocative approaches. Digital space provides opportunities to expand service reach, strengthen community participation, and develop intervention models that are more adaptive and responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups. This study confirms that mapping digital space as an area of social work practice is a strategic step to maintain the relevance and sustainability of the profession amidst social changes caused by digitalization. His contribution to the formulation of a conceptual framework that can be used as a basis for developing contextual social work policies, education, and practices that are oriented towards social justice in the digital era.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance fine motor skills in early childhood through the utilization of Educational Play Tools (EPT) at PAUD/RA Al Istiqomah, Kembangan District, West Jakarta. The program employed a community-based participatory approach involving 25 children aged 4–6 years, along with teachers and parents. The method consisted of five stages: needs assessment, preparation, intervention implementation, evaluation, and program sustainability. Data were collected using participatory observation with a checklist instrument covering hand-eye coordination, grip strength, object manipulation accuracy, and attention span. The results indicate improvements across all fine motor skill indicators, with the highest increase observed in object manipulation accuracy. In addition, qualitative reflections revealed that teachers and parents gained better understanding and skills in providing developmental stimulation through play-based activities. The collaborative approach between school and family played a significant role in supporting program sustainability. However, these findings should be interpreted cautiously due to the short duration of the intervention and the limited number of participants. Further studies with more rigorous designs are recommended. Overall, the use of educational play tools through play-based learning demonstrates potential as a practical and contextually relevant strategy to support fine motor development in early childhood education settings.

Abstract

The development of digital democracy in Indonesia requires the younger generation to have adequate political and media literacy to understand and critically evaluate public information. However, the integration of political literacy, media literacy, and English language learning in madrasahs is still limited. This Community Service activity aims to improve madrasah students' political literacy and their ability to produce and disseminate public information through English-language media. The activity was held on October 9-10, 2025, at MAS SKB 3 Menteri Sei Tontong, involving 28 students as participants. The implementation method used a project-based learning approach, which included the delivery of political literacy material, training in English political vocabulary, and assistance in creating digital media content using the Canva application. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests, which were analyzed using the N-gain formula. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding, with most of the questions falling into the high category. In addition, the students were able to produce English-language media content containing educational information on public issues in Indonesia. This activity shows that the integration of political literacy, media literacy, and English language learning through digital content production can be an effective approach.

Abstract

Low household income and limited technical skills represent the primary challenges faced by the community in Talang Ubi, Pulokerto Village, Palembang, which hinder the development of creative economy potential based on local wisdom. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of housewives and young women through flower and snack bouquet production training as a strategic effort to enhance their quality of life. The implementation method employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), encompassing the stages of problem diagnosis, solution planning, action (through lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on training), and reflection. Evaluation was conducted comprehensively using pre-test and post-test instruments among 20 selected participants. The results indicated a significant increase in participant competence, with a 100% success rate. Evaluation data recorded an implementation achievement of 91%, material mastery of 94%, and target material achievement of 90%. In conclusion, the application of the PAR method in this training proved effective in economically empowering women and is aligned with the achievement of SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). This activity provides a tangible contribution to strengthening the local creative economy ecosystem sustainably and supports the achievement of Universitas Sriwijaya's Key Performance Indicators (IKU).
