Abstract

This study analyzes the validity of ablution for women who use waterproof henna. Wudhu, as one of the main forms of worship in Islam, requires perfection in its execution, including ensuring water can reach all the required body parts. The emergence of waterproof cosmetics such as henna has triggered questions regarding the validity of wudhu for its users. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method that focuses on analyzing the matan of the hadith. The criteria of matan validity based on the perspective of scholars such as Muhammad al-Ghazali and Subhi Sholih form the basis of this research. The results show that waterproof henna can prevent ablution water from reaching the skin, making ablution invalid. Therefore, users of waterproof henna need to ensure that the material has been cleaned before wudhu. This study also provides theoretical and practical insights for Muslim women as well as scholars to understand the correct ablution procedure according to Islamic law. The study recommends practical steps in addressing the use of waterproof cosmetics to maintain the validity of worship.

Abstract

Hiruk pikuk modernitas di perkotaan menghadapkan umat Islam dengan tantangan pergeseran nilai dan krisis identitas. Pendidikan Islam di perkotaan perlu menyesuaikan diri untuk menjawab tantangan tersebut. Pendidikan Islam berbasis komunitas hadir sebagai alternatif menanamkan nilai pendidikan Islam dengan lebih fleksibel dan inovatif. Dengan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini mengumpulkan data menggunakan studi pustaka, kemudian dianalisis dengan metode analisis tematik. Tujuannya untuk mengidentifikasi, menganalisis, dan merumuskan pola pendidikan Islam berbasis komunitas yang berkembang dalam konteks modernitas di lingkungan perkotaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan komunitas Muslim yang belakangan dikenal sebagai ‘pemuda hijrah’ telah menjadi miliu belajar agama yang adaptif, inovatif, serta menjadi jawaban akan hausnya masyarakat urban terhadap ilmu agama. Masyarakat perkotaan cenderung lebih tertarik dengan fleksibilitas dalam pendidikan, mengingat mobilitas yang tinggi dan keterbatasan waktu. Hal ini mendorong permintaan akan model pendidikan yang dapat diakses secara online ataupun berbasis komunitas, dengan pendekatan yang lebih santai dan berfokus pada pembelajaran sepanjang hayat. Komunitas seperti ‘Shift Bandung’ dan ‘Terang Jakarta’ menjadi contoh bagaimana pendidikan Islam dikemas secara menarik dalam bingkai komunitas. Pada Shift Bandung misalnya, Nilai pendidikan islam disampaikan melalui komunikasi persuasif dengan pendekatan kultural budaya populer, sedangkan Terang Jakarta memanfaatkan ruang publik seperti kafe atau tempat tongkrongan anak muda sebagai lokasi untuk bersilaturahmi dan berbagi pengalaman, sembari mengenal Islam secara lebih mendalam. Pembelajaran yang dilakukan pun dikemas dengan cara yang santai dan membahas isu-isu ringan. Diharapkan dengan hasil temuan dari penelitian ini dapat menambah wawasan aktual agar menjadi bekal dalam mengembangkan model pendidikan Islam di perkotaan.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of innovation in the hadith learning process through scientific and multidisciplinary approaches at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Manafiul Ulum Kudus. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques: interviews, observation, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with the head of the madrasah, teachers, and students to explore their learning experiences. The research findings identify that the application of scientific methods and multidisciplinary approaches has successfully deepened students' understanding of Islamic teachings and their relevance to daily life. Students not only memorize the hadith texts but also understand the meaning and significance of these teachings in social and cultural contexts. This research also found that innovation in learning can build students' critical and analytical thinking skills and strengthen their character through reflection on moral values. Further research is recommended to explore the effectiveness of innovative methods in various other Islamic educational institutions, as well as identify potential challenges in their implementation. Thus, the hope from this research is that it can significantly contribute to the advancement of Islamic education, especially hadith, which is more relevant and contextual in Indonesia

Abstract

The Friday Wage bancaan tradition is a tradition that is alive and believed by the community until now, the tradition is passed down from generation to generation. This tradition is used to show gratitude and thanks to God for giving health and safety. The purpose of this research article is to describe the history, process, values and benefits of Friday Wage bancaan. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach and uses two types of data, namely primary and secondary. The primary data comes from interviews while the secondary data comes from literature or review studies of journals, books and other literature that has a relationship with related discussions. The results of this study indicate that the bancaan tradition has many social values and benefits for the community. This research also presents hadiths that are relevant to the hadiths that animate the community (living). This research article is expected to add insight and knowledge to the community, especially to the younger generation to always maintain and preserve their culture.

Abstract

Discussions about philosophy are dialectical. Until now there is still a long debate, especially regarding the construction of philosophy and the elements of philosophy. Especially, if look the existence of philosophy in the Islamic world. The role and implications of ancient Greek philosophy as a thought that intrinsically contains critical-philosophical values contribute to Islamic civilisation. The open, critical, and dialectical style of thought from ancient Greece gave birth to Muslim philosophers such as al-Kindi, al-Farabi, al-Razi, to al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd. Despite the views that reject philosophy, it turns out that philosophy also has a great influence on Muslims. Departing from that, this research seeks to examine the role of philosophy, especially philosophy from ancient Greek civilisation, in the formation of critical-philosophical thinking of Muslims in the early period. The method used in this research is library research. In the process of analysis, this research produces the conclusion that philosophy has a considerable role in Islamic civilisation, especially in shaping the critical-philosophical thinking of Muslims. Some indications that can be known are, making philosophical values as a way to answer the problem of Islamic theology, being a factor in the formulation of the methodology for interpreting authoritative sources (al-Qur'an and Hadith), to strengthen the epistemological basis of Sufism studies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of Arabic language skills in understanding Islamic teachings. As a response, the KMI system at Pondok Modern Ibadurrahman implements Arabic-based Islamic Tarikh learning. Tarikh Islam discusses the journey and dynamics of the development of Islam from time to time, including the struggles of the prophets, the spread of Islam, and the triumphs and challenges faced by Muslims. This study not only provides historical insight, but also trains santri in understanding Arabic historical texts. Therefore, this study aims to describe how the implementation of KMI. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data sources consist of the Director of KMI, Islamic History teachers in grades 2, 3, and 4, and students in grades 2, 3, and 4 at Pondok Modern Ibadurrahman Tenggarong Seberang. The research instruments used include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity is tested through triangulation of sources and techniques. The data analysis technique includes data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of KMI in the subject of Islamic History at Pondok Modern Ibadurrahman Tenggarong Seberang includes learning planning in the form of determining objectives, selecting learning resources, and preparing learning designs according to the KMI syllabus and RPP / I'dat. The implementation of learning in the form of greetings, introductory vocabulary, reading historical texts, and explaining material using Arabic and evaluating learning in the form of daily questions and answers, written questions and mid- and end-of-semester exams. In addition, in the process, this learning also explores the Arabic language skills of students through the aspects of listening, reading, writing and speaking so that students can understand the material in Arabic optimally. Based on these findings, this study suggests further optimizing the strategy of strengthening students' Arabic language skills and utilizing media and other supporting facilities to support the effectiveness of Islamic Tarikh learning.

Abstract

The Muharram cultural procession tradition is one of the activities carried out in Payaman Village, Mejobo District, Kudus Regency. This activity is maintained and preserved as a form of respect and reminder of the ancestors of the Payaman Village community. This research aims to show that the implementation of this cultural procession is based on Islamic principles, which play a role in strengthening the relationship between residents and as an expression of gratitude to God for all the blessings given to them. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach, with the collection of two types of data: primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through interviews, while secondary data was collected from literature studies, websites, and other sources relevant to the topic discussed. The results show the existence of a cultural kirab that contains Islamic values and hadith, which serve as the basis for understanding social religious phenomena. In addition, the month of Muharram is interpreted as a symbol of awakening. This article is expected to develop the knowledge and understanding of the community, especially the younger generation, so that we can always maintain and preserve the existing culture.

Abstract

This article explores the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling multicultural values and religious moderation in schools, particularly at SMK Negeri 1 Argamakmur Bengkulu Utara. The study is based on the reality of Indonesia’s cultural and religious diversity, which, if unmanaged, may lead to social conflict. Using a qualitative descriptive method and a case study approach, the findings reveal that PAI teachers carry out three primary roles: as motivators, administrators, and evaluators. Teachers not only impart peaceful and tolerant religious understanding but also shape students’ character to live harmoniously in a pluralistic society. The research also identifies several influencing factors, such as parenting styles, globalization, and the limited depth of Islamic scholarship, which affect the success of cultivating religious moderation. Therefore, a synergy among educational institutions, families, and communities is essential to foster a generation that is tolerant and morally upright.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of Islamic mysticism (tasawwuf) as conceptualized and advocated by Prof. Dr. H. Nurcholish Madjid, a renowned Indonesian Muslim intellectual. The research aims to examine how Madjid understands mysticism not merely as a path of personal spirituality, but as a transformative force that integrates inner piety with social ethics. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study analyzes Madjid’s key writings and public lectures, particularly his interpretation of central Sufi concepts such as tazkiyah al-nafs (self-purification), ma'rifah (gnosis), and tawḥīd (the oneness of God) within the context of contemporary Indonesian Islam. The findings reveal that Madjid’s approach to mysticism is inclusive, rational, and reformist—emphasizing inner transformation while reinforcing its relevance to social renewal, ethical consciousness, and democratic values. His mystical thought presents an integrative paradigm in which spiritual depth and intellectual engagement coexist, contributing to the development of a more tolerant, ethical, and pluralistic Islamic society. This study affirms the contemporary relevance of Islamic mysticism in shaping religious discourse, ethical leadership, and civic participation in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article discusses Muhammad Syahrur's hermeneutical approach in understanding hadith and its implications for the position of the Prophet Muhammad in the Islamic legal system. Syahrur, as a contemporary Syrian thinker, offers a rational and contextual approach to religious texts, including hadith, which have been positioned as the main source of law after the Qur'an. In his hermeneutical framework, Syahrur distinguishes between “nusus” (text) and “fahm” (understanding), and emphasizes the importance of contextual reading of hadith by considering the times and social realities. He views that the authority of the Prophet as the bearer of revelation is limited in a particular historical context, so that not all actions of the Prophet are automatically binding as the basis of universal law. This view raises a critical discourse on the authority of hadith in the construction of Islamic law and opens a wider space for ijtihad for Muslims today. The article also examines the responses to Shahrur's ideas, both from supporters of Islamic thought reform and from those who maintain the traditional approach. In doing so, it seeks to contribute to the contemporary discourse on the methodology of understanding hadith and the role of the Prophet in the modern Islamic legal system.
