Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) has grown rapidly since the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to grow even after the pandemic is over. In the tourism industry, VR applications are often used in the tourism process to promote destinations and attract tourists to visit. Starting from the quality of VR applications, tourists will intend to use VR applications if these applications have good quality. For this reason, by assessing VR quality and incorporating it into TAM, this study aims to explore the adoption of VR applications in the tourism sector. This study included 400 VR users as participants. Using the partial least square structural equational model (PLS-SEM), a number of hypotheses were assessed. The findings demonstrate that VR quality significantly influences all TAM constructs, including attitude and intention to use. Then, attitude is significantly influenced by perceived usefulness and ease of use. Finally, the intention to use is significantly influenced by attitude. These results indicate that VR quality that is useful and easy to use will determine the adoption of VR applications in tourism. This paper advances both theory and practice by explaining the importance of VR quality and TAM in the adoption of VR applications in tourism.

Abstract

 Tourism village pilot through the formation of POKDARWIS is an initiative that aims to develop tourism villages as attractive tourism destinations. This research aims to explore the potential of human and tourism resources through POKDARWIS activities in an effort to pioneer a Tourism Village in Gemawang Village, Ngadirojo Sub-district, Wonogiri Regency. This research uses descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques with direct observation and interviews in a structured manner and literature study. The results showed that Gemawang Village has natural and cultural potential that can be developed into an attractive tourist destination. However, this potential has not been fully utilised due to the limited understanding of the community about their tourism potential. Through POKDARWIS activities, the community of Gemawang Village learnt to manage tourism potential sustainably and build close cooperation among residents to improve the attractiveness and quality of tourism services. This research provides new insights into the important role of human resources in local tourism development as well as the benefits of collaboration between the government, community, and other related parties in advancing the tourism sector at the village level.

Abstract

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has forced numerous businesses to a standstill, with the tourism sector, especially the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, facing severe challenges. However, this unprecedented situation highlights the unpredictable nature of crises and their potential to reshape travel patterns. This research examines the factors contributing to the success of the digitalization strategy in the MICE industry and explores the impact of digitalization on the industry's pursuit of sustainable tourism goals. The research employs a detailed and all-encompassing examination of the subject, utilizing a case study research methodology in conjunction with a qualitative descriptive research strategy. Data collection involves observation, literature analysis, and interviews conducted with participants in the tourism industry and management of MICE companies. The findings suggest significant potential for Bali as a MICE destination. Digitalization is identified as a pivotal factor in enhancing the future resilience of the MICE industry by creating new prospects, tackling industry challenges, and promoting sustainable event tourism.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a development strategy for the Sumenep Palace Museum as a cultural tourism des-tination in Sumenep Regency. The research approach uses qualitative case studies, SWOT analysis, IFAS/EFAS matrix and TOWS matrix preparation. Data collection was carried out by interviewing museum managers and local communities, as well as observing the location of the Sumenep Palace Museum. Tourism Sumenep Pal-ace Museum has a historical building that is still maintained, but public facilities still need to be improved. People are still highly interested in the Palace Museum, and the threat is losing competitiveness with other tours, so   people are bored visiting the museum. It is found that the Sumenep Palace Museum is located in quadrant 1, which is an aggressive strategy, meaning that it has the potential for development. The devel-opment strategy that can be applied is to collaborate with artists/culturalists, education institution, and young people to enliven the museum by holding art/cultural performances regularly and maximizing the role of so-cial media with influencers in promoting Sumenep Palace Museum tourism.

Abstract

The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, particularly within the domain of music concerts, stands poised for significant enhancement in Indonesia. It is worth noting that Indonesia has successfully hosted numerous international music concerts; however, there is still considerable room for growth compared to other ASEAN countries. This study employs theory synthesis to achieve conceptual integration as a research framework construct by combining the FoMO phenomenon, which is currently prevalent due to the rise of social networking sites (SNS), with different policies facilitating music concerts in Indonesia. This review study aims to achieve its research objectives and establish that the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) phenomenon can significantly enhance music performance ticket sales. This is achieved by constructing the FoMO trait and the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale, then classifying products according to each concert theme, whether virtual or physical. By capitalizing on the ubiquitous presence of social networking sites (SNS) and the heightened Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) phenomenon post-COVID-19, we anticipate significant improvements. This conceptual study can serve as a valuable resource for enhancing research on the optimization of music concerts, which is also an area that is still underexplored, particularly in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of tourism facilities and attractions on visitors' revisit intentions, with visitor satisfaction serving as an intervening variable, focusing on Kampung AEWO Mulyaharja, Bogor. The research method used is a quantitative approach using PLS SEM (Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling). The population of this study consists of visitors who have visited AEWO Mulyaharja Village in Bogor at least once, with a total sample of 366 respondents. Sampling was conducted using a combination of probability sampling and purposive sampling techniques, with a minimum respondent age of 18 years. The research findings indicate that 1) tourism facilities directly influence visitor satisfaction. 2) tourist attractions have a direct influence on visitor satisfaction. 3) tourism facilities have a direct influence on revisit intention. 4) tourist attractions have a direct influence on revisit intention. 5) visitor satisfaction has a direct influence on revisit intention. 6) tourism facilities significantly indirectly influence revisit intention, with visitor satisfaction as an intervening variable. 7) tourist attractions significantly indirectly influence revisit intention with visitor satisfaction as an intervening variable. The results of this study can serve as a guide for the management of tourist villages, such as AEWO Mulyaharja Village in Bogor, in developing facilities and services that cater to visitors' needs.

Abstract

Concerts are a fun attraction. This industry is growing along with the arrival of world bands/musicians to In-donesia and performances by domestic musicians. If packaged well, concerts become a music tourism attrac-tion. This research was conducted qualitatively. Primary data was obtained through observation by attending concerts in Jakarta and Solo. Secondary data was obtained through a study of related literature. The conclu-sion of this research is that Indonesia can become a music tourism destination by holding international standard concerts on a regular basis.

Abstract

Tourists play a central role in the tourism industry, serving as the primary drivers of demand that generates economic activities and growth in this industry. This study focuses on understanding the key factors influencing tourist satisfaction and dissatisfaction in nature-based tourism destinations. Fatumnasi, a remote, emerging tourism destination in South-Central Timor, Indonesia, was chosen as the study site. A qualitative approach was utilized in this study.  Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with 17 participants.  A thematic analysis approach was employed to identify and interpret recurring themes within the data, systematically categorizing both positive and negative experiences shared by participants. This process captured specific factors that shaped tourist satisfaction and dissatisfaction, highlighting what aspects of the destination were most valued and where improvements are needed. The finding of this study reveals that tourist satisfaction toward the Fatumnasi tourism destination is primarily driven by the breathtaking natural scenery, biodiverse hotspots, and value for money. In contrast, unsatisfactory experiences were attributed to issues related to poor accessibility and infrastructure, insufficient pre-trip information, and environmental degradation, which indicates a need for improvements in these areas to better meet tourist satisfaction.

Abstract

This study focuses on the influence of travel motivation on travel experiences at marine tourism destinations in South Sulawesi. In the context of tourism development, particularly marine tourism, understanding travel motivations is crucial for enhancing the quality of destinations and tourist or travel experiences. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between tourists' travel motivations and their experiences at marine tourism destinations. This research employs a quantitative approach, with data collected through a questionnaire survey distributed to 220 respondents who have visited marine tourism destinations in South Sulawesi. The data analysis was conducted using a simple linear regression test to examine the relationship between travel motivation and travel experiences. The results of the study indicate that travel motivation has a positive and significant influence on travel experiences. Every increase in travel motivation contributes to an improvement in the unforgettable travel experience. The study also identifies several key motivational factors, including beach-based activities, natural beauty, and togetherness with family and friends. The conclusion of this study is that travel motivation is a crucial factor in shaping travel experiences at marine tourism destinations. The implications of this study emphasize the importance for destination managers to pay attention to and enhance tourists' travel motivational factors in order to create higher quality and more tourism experiences.

Abstract

The film industry plays a significant role in influencing tourists' travel destination choices. This study aims to explore the relationship between celebrity involvement and destination image, with celebrity worship serving as a mediating variable. This research depicted the case of Chinese film industry to examines how films and celebrities impact destination image. This research uses quantitative research methods with the PLS-SEM research model. the study surveyed 310 Batam residents who have watched Chinese movies or TV series. The findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between celebrity involvement and destination image, mediated by celebrity worship.
