Abstract

The literature on branding of educational institutions is still under development, so far there has been no research showing university branding. Research that has quantitative variations that have branding with other variables in the context of business organizations. This study aims to explore the formation of branding in vocational higher education institutions in the tourism sector.  Data were taken using Focus Group Discussion and interviews from tourism stakeholders.  This study uses thematic analysis, namely open coding and axial coding.  The results show that there are main attributes in the formation of branding, namely identity, alumni, management aspects, quality of human resources and products and competitiveness.  With the formation of these branding attributes, this research contributes to the measurement of tourism vocational education branding

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) untuk mengetahui interpretasi personal dalam bahasa Jepang oleh pemandu wisata pada daya tarik wisata desa Penglipuran dan (2) untuk mengetahui penerapan interpretasi non personal dalam bahasa Jepang oleh pemandu wisata pada daya tarik wisata desa Penglipuran. Pengumpulan data dari penelitian ini diambil dengan teknik: wawancara, dokumentasi dan observasi serta analisis data dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pemandu wisata wisatawan Jepang yang melakukan pemanduan khususnya dalam bahasa Jepang di kawasan daya tarik wisata desa Penglipuran sudah maksimal kepada setiap wisatawan yang berkunjung di kawasan desa Penglipuran dengan melakukan persiapan seperti menyiapkan alat bantu seperti bendera, pengeras suara dan sebagainya sebelum melakukan pemanduan dan hingga pada proses memberikan pelayanan dalam memberikan informasi kepada wisatawan yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan kesan yang baik terhadap setiap wisatawan yang berkunjung dan agar wisatawan yang berkunjung bisa mendapatkan informasi dan pemahaman yang baik terhadap desa Penglipuran. Dalam memberikan informasi maupun interpretasi, pemandu wisata menggunakan teknik yang disebut dengan TORE (Thematic, Organized, Relevant, Enjoyable). Pemandu wisata menggunakan gestur ketika ada kesulitan menerjemahakan dalam bahsa jepang padanan kosa katanya hal ini bertujuan agar program interpretasi bisa berjalan dengan baik dan menyenangkan. Penerapan dan pemanfaatan media interpretasi non personal yang telah tersedia di desa Penglipuran oleh pemandu wisata asing Jepang sudah sangat baik hal ini dapat dilihat dari beberapa papan nama situs sudah terintegrasi dengan informasi yang diakses secara digital. Terdapat pula papan rambu yang tertulis dalam bahsa Jepang. KEY WORDS: Bahasa Jepang, Interpretasi, Personal, Non Personal

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas pentingnya kegiatan interpretasi dalam pengembangan daya tarik wisata dan bagaimana pelatihan inter-pretasi dapat memberikan manfaat yang signifikan bagi masyarakat lokal. Interpretasi dalam konteks pariwisata mengacu pada proses menyampaikan informasi, nilai, dan makna suatu destinasi kepada pengunjung untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, apre-siasi, dan kesadaran. Tujuan utama interpretasi adalah memberikan pengalaman berharga kepada pengunjung dan meningkatkan pemahaman mereka tentang sejarah, budaya, dan lingkungan suatu tempat. Interpretasi berbasis komunitas di Rammang-Rammang adalah pendekatan yang melibatkan komunitas lokal sebagai pelaku utama dalam penyampaian informasi kepada pengunjung serta menciptakan kegiatan interpretasi yang dapat memberikan nilai tambah secara finansial bagi mereka yang bukan hanya sekedar memberikan jasa pengantaran dengan perahu ke atraksi utama dan membiarkan pemandu wisata dari luar yang lebih berperan. Secara khusus kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah wujud nyata pengabdian kepada masyarakat oleh Program Studi Perjalanan Wisata Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar. Penguatan kompetensi interpretasi bagi masyarakat merupakan investasi pent-ing yang dapat meningkatkan pengalaman wisatawan, mendukung pendidikan dan kesadaran, serta mendukung pembangunan ekonomi dan keberlanjutan dalam jangka panjang. Untuk melakasanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat telah dil-akukan langkah-langkah yaitu analisis kebutuhan, perencanaan, persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Materi pelatihan meliputi pengembangan produk interpretasi, teknik storytelling, dan praktik interpretasi di lapangan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan interpretasi sangat memuaskan dan memberikan manfaat yang signifikan bagi masyarakat. Dengan pelatihan interpretasi yang baik, masyarakat dapat memberikan pengalaman wisatawan yang lebih berharga, meningkatkan pemahaman budaya dan lingkungan, serta mendukung pariwisata berkelanjutan dan pengembangan ekonomi lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Wisata Rammang-rammang, Kabupaten Maros. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat lokal mengembangkan produk wisata. Jenis penelitian menggunakan penelitian dan pengembangan (R & D). Tahapan penelitian mulai dari identifikasi lapangan, observasi, wawancara, focus group discussion, desain produk, uji coba  hingga desiminasi. Uji coba dialkukan pada kelompok kecil dan kelompok besar. Hasil penelitian yaitu produk wisata berupa 1) Paket wisata yang memuat konten story telling fenomena fisik dan budaya setempat, 2) Rute Walking Tour dengan model Chaining Loop,3)  Pemanfataan homestay dan kuliner lokal serta produk pengembangan diimplementasikan menggunakan Model Canva untuk kegiatan promosi dan tata kelola bisnis pariwiwisata.  Rekomendasi untuk penelitian di masa yang akan datang untuk melakukan uji coba pada kelompok yang lebih besar lagi serta diperlukan pengembangan paket wisata yang sarat pengalaman di seluruh kawasan Geopark Maros-Pangkep.

Abstract

This study investigates the resilience strategies employed by small and medium-sized tourism enterprises (SMTEs) in Tanjung Bira, a marine-based destination in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, to cope with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Duchek's Model of resilience, which conceptualizes resilience as a meta-capability composed of three stages (anticipation, coping, and adaptation), is used as a key framework. An exploratory qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth semi-structured interviews with seven informants representing various tourism stakeholders. Thematic analysis revealed several main strategies for SMTE resilience: collaboration with stakeholders, government intervention, implementation of digital marketing, strengthening SMTEs legality, and strengthening/diversification of SMTE products. Mapping these strategies onto Duchek's Model, the anticipation stage included strategic planning, risk assessment, and building dynamic capabilities; the coping stage consisted of immediate financial measures and policy support; and the adaptation stage involved diversification, technology and innovation adoption, and collaboration and networking. A key implication is that destination management organizations should create innovative products and leverage online platforms for marketing to increase visitor arrivals and boost SMTE product sales. The findings contribute to understanding SMTE resilience in the context of a marine-based destination in Eastern Indonesia and provide insights for policymakers and practitioners to support SMTE recovery and long-term sustainability post-pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Research on Digital Marketing, Brand Awareness, and Brand Image is necessary to determine which indicators most effectively influence consumer purchasing decisions. Previous studies have shown varying results, underscoring the importance of revisiting these variables. Differences in indicators for each variable, as well as the specific context of 3-star hotels in Makassar, contribute to the uniqueness of this research. Methodology: The population for this study includes guests staying at 55 3-star hotels in Makassar. The sample size, determined using the Isaac & Michael method, is set at 349 respondents. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach and statistical data analysis. Data collection is conducted through surveys using questionnaires. Data analysis techniques include path analysis, with stages involving Outer Model Testing, Goodness of Fit Model Testing, and Inner Model Testing using Smart PLS. Findings: Brand Awareness has a positive but insignificant effect on Purchasing Decisions. Digital Marketing has a negative and insignificant effect on Brand Image. Digital Marketing has a negative and insignificant effect on Purchasing Decisions through Brand Image. Conclusion: Brand Awareness can impact purchasing decisions, although the effect is not significant, and Digital Marketing does not significantly affect either purchasing decisions or brand image. Therefore, 3-star hotels should improve their Brand Image and Digital Marketing performance and consider other variables and strategies to build a strong and positive brand image in the eyes of consumers. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap potensi daya tarik wisata yang terdapat di museum kota di Kota Makassar dan mengembangkan aktivitas interpretasi yang menarik di dalamnya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara dan dokumentasi, dengan menggunakan metode R&D (Research and Development) berdasarkan model pengembangan yang diusulkan oleh Sugiyono. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya program aktivitas interpretasi berbasis edukasi yang disusun berdasarkan rekomendasi dari pihak Pengelola Museum Kota Makassar, dengan fokus pada penyajian informasi melalui storytelling yang menarik serta aktivitas permainan yang sesuai dengan daya tarik wisata yang dimiliki oleh museum tersebut. Diharapkan bahwa produk interpretasi ini akan menjadi acuan bagi pelaku industri pariwisata yang ingin mengemas program aktivitas interpretasi berbasis edukasi yang menyenangkan di Museum Kota Makassar, sehingga dapat memperkaya pengalaman wisata budaya bagi pengunjung

Abstract

IMPLEMENTATION OF ESSENTIAL CONCEPT OF GEOGRAPHY TOURISM IN RAJA AMPAT, INDONESIAThis study aims to analyze the availability of essential concepts as materials for Tourism Geography courses through the use of Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua Province as a tourist destination. This research was operated with a qualitative approach, with interviews with local tour guides, surveys, and observations of geosite locations and literature review. The results of the research include: 1) the concept of location (absolute and relative), distance, pattern, affordability, morphology, and spatial relationships, 2) obtained spatial data with attributes of 29 geosite locations and three models of tourist movement in Raja Ampat destinations; 3) availability of materials in accordance with the final achievement needs of students of the Department of Travel and Department of Tourism Destinations at Makassar State Tourism Polytechnic. Developing a contextual textbook on Raja Ampat tourism geography is recommended as a reference book supplement.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis ketersediaan konsep esensial sebagai bahan materi mata kuliah Geografi Pariwisata melalui pemanfataan Raja Ampat, Provinsi Papua Barat Daya sebagai daerah tujuan wisata. Penelitian ini dioperasikan dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan wawancara kepada pemandu wisata setempat, survei, dan observasi lokasi geosite serta kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian diantaranya: 1) konsep lokasi (absolute dan relatif), jarak, pola, keterjangkauan, morfologi, dan keterkaitan ruang, 2) data spasial dengan atribut 29 lokasi geosite serta tiga model pergerakan wisatawan di destinasi Raja Ampat; 3) ketersediaan materi sesuai dengan kebutuhan capaian akhir mahasiswa Jurusan Perjalanan dan Jurusan Destinasi Pariwisata di Politeknik Pariwisata Negeri Makassar. Pengembangan buku ajar kontekstual tentang Geografi Pariwisata Raja Ampat direkomensadikan sebagai suplemen buku referensi.

Abstract

The development of the sea highway through the Makassar New Port project is a threat to the management of the Untia Fishermen's Village tourism area, Makassar City. So far, the potential of mangroves in Untia Fishermen Village has become a tourist attraction. The resilience of coastal communities is needed to deal with changes in the coastline caused by Makassar New Port. This research aims to discover the socio-cultural potential in the Untia Fishermen Village so that it can be developed into a creative economic business to adapt to changes in the environment around the area. The research was conducted qualitatively by interviewing and observing four informants who have played a role in the governance of Untia Fishermen Village. Data analysis was performed using SWOT. The results showed that the strengths in the study location are social capital in the form of creativity, compliance with rules, and awareness of managing plastic waste. In comparison, the existing obstacle is the inability to use digital marketing, which still needs to be improved. Collaboration of all parties is required through community empowerment activities and establishing strategic government programs for fishing communities threatened with losing their livelihoods as fishermen.

Abstract

The research attempts to find out: (1) Personal interpretation in Japanese language by guide at penglipuran village (2) Nonpersonal interpretation in Japanese language by guide at penglipuran village. Interview, documentation and observation were used to meet the purpose of this study integrates with descriptive method. The finding indicates that tour guide who interpretate visitor especially while using Japanese language at Penglipuran village has show very well performance when giving information to the tourist in doing preparation before do guiding such guide flag, uniform, licience, until transferring visitor out of village. A lot of attention at Penglipuran village has been paid for Non-Personal interpretation. Signs and pathway are concerned has meet the appropriate placement, design and clear themes. Tour guide using TORE (Thematic, Organized, Relevant, Enjoyable) method when giving information to the visitors. Guide also use gesture and body language when having problem in interpretating in Japanese language in order to keep communication among the visitors. The using of nonpersonal interpretation media at Penglipuran village are well prepared this can be seen at design, color and them of media, along the information board also written in Japanese language.
