Abstract

This qualitative study aims to analysis the reality of psychological well-being (PWB) within immigrant communities in around Unimal Campus, Reuleut, Aceh. The primary objectives are to establish a model of psychological well-being specific to migrant communities in this locality and to identify the key factors that exert influence on their psychological well-being. The factors under investigation include economic status, social support, social networks, religiosity, personality traits, emotional regulation, and loneliness. By adopting a phenomenology qualitative approach, this research seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the experiences of immigrant communities in Reuleut. The study's subjects comprise immigrant communities residing in Reuleut, Aceh. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, the research sheds light on the nuanced dimensions of psychological well-being within this context. The findings contribute to the broader understanding of psychological well-being factors that resonate within migrant communities, thereby presenting an informed perspective on the conditions and challenges faced by immigrants in Aceh. The outcomes of this study reveal that gender does not significantly impact the manifestation of resistance behaviors among students. The study underscores that both male and female students exhibit moderate levels of resistance towards teachers. This lack of gender-related distinctions in resistance levels underscores the potential influence of other factors, such as pedagogical approaches, classroom dynamics, and student perceptions. Consequently, this research underscores the imperative of cultivating positive teacher-student interactions and fostering an environment where students' voices are valued and comprehended, irrespective of their gender.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and social anxiety among inmates at Bapas Kelas I Banjarmasin. A quantitative research design with a correlational approach was employed to investigate the potential connection between these variables. The sample comprised 128 inmates, selected using quota sampling, from the total population of 1,278 registered in the System Database Pemasyarakatan (SDP) of the institution. Data were collected using self-report measures: the Social Support Scale based on Sarafino and Smith's aspects of social support and the Social Anxiety Scale based on La Grace and Lopez's aspects of social anxiety. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson's product-moment correlation in SPSS version 22.0. The results revealed a statistically significant negative correlation between social support and social anxiety (r = -0.404, p < 0.001), indicating that higher levels of social support are associated with lower levels of social anxiety among inmates. The study also examined the distribution of social anxiety levels and found that 56% of participants exhibited low social anxiety, 42% had moderate social anxiety, and 2% experienced high social anxiety. Additionally, the analysis indicated that 80% of inmates reported high social support, while 20% reported moderate social support. The implications of these findings suggest the importance of fostering social support networks within correctional facilities to alleviate social anxiety among inmates. Providing mental health services, implementing gender-specific interventions, and focusing on rehabilitation and reintegration strategies are recommended to enhance inmates' overall well-being. Further research should explore the specific factors contributing to variations in social support and social anxiety levels among inmates. By addressing these aspects, correctional institutions can play a pivotal role in promoting inmates' psychological well-being and successful reintegration into society upon release.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of religiosity on guilt feelings among female inmates in Class IIA Women's Penitentiary Martapura. The research involved 213 female inmates aged between 15 and 50 years old. The participants' guilt feelings were measured using a guilt feelings scale, while their religiosity was assessed using a religiosity scale. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings indicated a significant positive correlation between religiosity and guilt feelings, suggesting that higher levels of religiosity were associated with increased guilt feelings. Regression analysis further confirmed the influence of religiosity on guilt feelings. The study also explored the influence of age, types of offenses, sentence duration, and length of incarceration on guilt feelings and religiosity. The results revealed variations in guilt feelings and religiosity based on these factors. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between religiosity and guilt feelings among female inmates, emphasizing the importance of religious factors in the correctional context.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the combined effects of classical music and color on short-term memory performance. A sample of 20 university students as participants was randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Levene's Test was employed to assess the equality of variances between the groups, yielding a non-significant p-value (0.072 > 0.05), suggesting equal variances. Subsequently, a t-test assuming equal variances showed a non-significant result (p = 0.127 > 0.05). This implies no significant difference in short-term memory performance between the experimental and control groups. The findings contrast with prior research demonstrating the potential of classical music and color to enhance memory. While music's influence on cognition is established, this study suggests that their combined effects might not significantly enhance short-term memory. However, further research is recommended to explore various factors influencing this interaction and its potential applications in education and cognitive therapy. The research findings can serve as a foundation for students to comprehend that not all methods or stimuli will significantly enhance memory performance. Hence, students can become more discerning in selecting learning strategies that align with their preferences and cognitive traits.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring through group guidance in enhancing students' self-confidence levels. This research investigates the impact of cognitive restructuring through group guidance on enhancing students' self-confidence. The study employed a quasi-experimental design involving a pre-test and post-test assessment to measure changes in self-confidence levels. The participants were eight high school students categorized as having low self-confidence. The intervention involved a six-week group guidance program focusing on cognitive restructuring techniques. The results demonstrated a significant positive correlation between pre-test and post-test self-confidence scores, indicating the intervention's effectiveness in improving self-confidence. The findings highlight the importance of cognitive restructuring as a valuable approach for addressing low self-confidence among students. While the intervention played a pivotal role, it's essential to acknowledge the influence of other internal and external factors in shaping self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the differences in resistance levels exhibited by male and female students towards their teachers. The research employed a quantitative approach with a comparative design, involving 75 students from a Junior High School named SMP Telekomunikasi Pekanbaru. The resistance levels of the students were measured using a resistance scale composed of various indicators. The validity and reliability of the research instrument were established through validity and reliability tests. The obtained data were subjected to Independent T-Test analysis to determine if there were significant differences in resistance between male and female students. The results indicated that both male and female students exhibited moderate levels of resistance towards their teachers. However, the analysis of the Independent T-Test revealed that there was no significant difference in resistance levels between the two genders (p > 0.05). These findings suggest that gender did not play a significant role in influencing the resistance behaviors displayed by the students. In conclusion, the study contributes to the understanding of student resistance towards teachers, indicating that both male and female students exhibit moderate levels of resistance. The absence of significant gender-based differences in resistance levels suggests that other factors, such as teaching methodologies, classroom dynamics, and student perceptions, might be more influential in shaping resistance behaviors. These results highlight the importance of fostering positive teacher-student interactions and creating an environment where students feel heard and understood, regardless of their gender.
