Abstract

This research aims to analyzed hydroponic lettuce cultivation at Tani Tirta, Tasikmalaya, using the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) and Deep Flow Technique (DFT) systems in 2,000 planting holes. The research method includes purposive location selection, with observations of variables such as media type, irrigation system, production costs, and income. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews and field observations, while secondary data included information about location profiles and hydroponic developments. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to understand the cultivation process and business feasibility. The results showed that the main challenges in cultivation are pest attacks, weather impacts, and reliance on electricity. However, the implementation of solutions such as the construction of greenhouses and the use of backup lights successfully addressed these challenges. Economic analysis shows total production costs of IDR2,140,000.00 and total revenue of IDR3,000,000.00, with an R/C ratio of 1.40, indicating that this business is worth developing. In conclusion, hydroponic lettuce cultivation at Tani Tirta is not only economically efficient but also has the potential to contribute to local food security.

Abstract

Corn straw is an alternative substitute for forage for animal feed in the dry season, but corn straw has low quality and short shelf life. The provision of starters is carried out to preserve and improve the quality of corn straw silage. This study aims to determine the effect of using various levels of cassava flour and cassava tape juice as starters on the physical quality and pH of corn straw silage. This study was carried out with a Complete Random Design (RAL), consisting of 20 experimental units with 4 treatments and 5 replicates, namely P1: corn straw without cassava tape juice and cassava flour as control, P2: corn straw + 1.5% cassava tape juice and 1.5% cassava flour, P3: corn straw + 3% cassava tape juice and 3% cassava flour, P4: corn straw + 4.5% cassava tape juice and 4.5% cassava flour. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Varians (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Ranges Test (DMRT). The data from the study showed that the use of cassava flour and cassava tape juice had a real effect (p<0.05) on physical quality which included color, aroma, texture, smell, and the presence of mold as well as the pH of corn straw silage.  It can be concluded that the using corn straw with 1.5% cassava flour and 1.5% cassava tape juice produced the best silage quality and pH compared to other treatments in terms of good physical quality, the lowest pH achievement, and the absence of mold.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the interaction between Mycogrow and Bionsecta formulas and green beans' growth and yield (Vigna radiata L.). The research method uses a field experiment method with a group randomized design factorial arrangement consisting of two factors repeated four times. The first factor,  Mycogrow (m) formulas, consists of 3 levels: m1 = 5 g/plant, m2 = 10 g/plant, and m3 = 15 g/plant. Meanwhile, the second factor, Bionsecta (b) formulas, consists of 3 levels: b1 = 5 g/plant, b2 = 10 g/plant, and b3 = 15 g/plant. The data obtained is analyzed statistically with the f-test (Multivariate Analysis of Varians), and the average value of each treatment is determined using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed an interaction between the m and b formulas. The best interaction was shown in the m2b2 combination: moycogrow 10 g and bionsects 10 g. The dose treatment of the Mycogrow formula (10 g/plant) is the best treatment on the number of leaves, age four wap, root length, number of pods per plant, and seed weight per plant. On the independent effect of giving bionsecta, a dose of 10 grams showed the best results on the number of pods per plant and seed weight per plant.

Abstract

Chrysanthemum waste compost fertilizer is an alternative to processing chrysanthemum waste, which has so far only been piled up on land and has yet to be processed into appropriate technology. The effectiveness of compost fertilizer was tested on shallots because this commodity is promising in every planting season. This study aims to determine the appropriate dose of chrysanthemum waste compost to produce optimum growth and yield of shallot plants. This research was conducted in Tidu Village, Pohjentrek District, Pasuruan Regency, at an altitude of ±12.5 masl from June to August 2022. The study used a randomized block design with 1 factor of four treatments and six replications. The treatment are P0 (without adding chrysanthemum waste compost as control), P1: (5ton ha-1 dose of chrysanthemum waste compost), P2 (10ton ha-1 chrysanthemum waste compost dose), and P3 (15ton ha-1 chrysanthemum waste compost dose). The results showed that applying 15 tons ha-1 of chrysanthemum waste compost gave the highest yield on tuber weight of 18.34 tons ha-1. It can be concluded that chrysanthemum waste compost influences the growth and yield of shallots. Applying chrysanthemum plant waste compost of 10 tons ha-1 showed optimal growth and yield of shallot plants. The dry weight of the resulting wind is 17.67 tons ha-1. This result exceeded the potential yield of the tubers of the varieties used, which ranged from 12-16 tons ha-1.

Abstract

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an infectious disease that can affect dairy cows, leading to mortality and a decrease in milk production. This study aims to examine the production and quality of milk from dairy cows at Service Cooperative Points (SCP) implementing the Milk Collection Point (MCP) system in the Bandung Selatan Livestock Cooperative, Pangalengan, during the FMD pandemic. The research employed a census method analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The results showed that the highest decrease in milk production occurred in July, with 7.2% at SCP Mekar Mulya and 47.58% at SCP Los Cimaung. This reduction was attributed to cow mortality, forced slaughter, and the impact of lactating cows contracting FMD. Subsequently, milk production increased in the following months, with the highest increase during the FMD pandemic recorded at 13.16% at SCP Mekar Mulya and 27.31% at SCP Los Cimaung. By August, milk production showed a consistent increase and stabilized through September. Additionally, milk quality during the FMD pandemic continued to meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). However, the resazurin grade dropped by one level compared to the pre-pandemic period. It can be concluded that the FMD outbreak caused a significant decrease in dairy cow milk production in SCP that implemented MCP at KPBS Pangalengan but did not reduce milk quality. There was an increase in fat, which was suspected to be due to a decrease in the amount of production and a decrease in resazurin grade by one level compared to before the pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to determined the effect of adding Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) maggot meal with fermented palm oil sludge culture media on the performance production of laying quail. This study used the experimental method and a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications. The treatment was the replacement of fish meal with BSF maggot flour, namely: A (0% BSF maggot and 12% fish meal), B (4% BSF maggot and 9% fish meal), C (8% BSF maggot and 6% fish meal), D (12% BSF maggot and 3% fish meal) and E (16% BSF maggot and 0% fish meal). The variables observed were ration consumption, feed conversion, egg weight, and daily egg production. The results showed that each treatment had no significant effect (p>0.05) on quail's production performance. The study concludes that using 16% BSF maggot flour can replace the use of fish meal and has a good effect on the production performance of quail. Under these conditions, ration consumption was 19.34 g/head/day, daily egg production was 71.13%, feed conversion was 2.52, and egg weight was 10.82 grams/egg. The best treatment was determined based on the price of the ration. The price of the ration in treatment E, using 16% BSF maggot flour in the laying quarter ration, was IDR6,705.00 lower than that of the other treatments. We found that feeding BSF maggot flour with fermentation culture media as a protein source to replace fishmeal in the laying quail ration up to 16% can maintain the birds' production performance. Besides, the best treatment was also determined based on the lowest ration price compared to the other treatments, which was Rp6,705.00/kg.
