Abstract

The pokat kahanggi tradition, a cultural practice in Mandailing society, is crucial in shaping cooperation, social solidarity, and community cohesion. This research examines the practice of this tradition in the Huta Padang Village community and its impact on these values. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, community leaders, and residents involved in the practice, as well as participatory observation of related activities. The Miles and Huberman interactive model was used for data analysis. The results indicate that pokat kahanggi remains an integral part of the Huta Padang community's social life, acting as an integrative mechanism that strengthens relationships between kahanggi members through consensus in various aspects of life. It also serves as an informal education tool, instilling values of mutual cooperation, responsibility, and togetherness to the younger generation. This tradition aligns with concepts of moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action, instilling social ethical values and virtues. To preserve and adapt pokat kahanggi, efforts are needed to face modernization challenges. This study contributes to understanding how local traditions can serve as an effective character education instrument.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the management of the development of Islamic Religious Education learning programs at SMP NU, focusing on the approaches applied in curriculum planning, teacher competency development, and the implementation of applicable religious activities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to analyze the management of the development of Islamic Religious Education learning programs at SMP NU Al-Islami Pesanggaran. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out by identifying the main themes, such as curriculum planning and teacher competency development. Data validity was maintained through source triangulation and member checks. The results of this study confirm that adaptive and relevant curriculum planning is very important to meet student needs and developments. The curriculum must consider student characteristics and integrate character values in learning. The development of Islamic Religious Education teacher competencies is also a major factor in improving the quality of education, especially through routine training and the application of interactive methods. Continuous evaluation and supervision, including principal supervision and analysis of learning outcomes, play a role in improving the effectiveness of teaching. These findings are in line with constructivism theory and clinical supervision which emphasize active, reflective, and collaboration-based learning. Thus, an adaptive curriculum approach, improving teacher competency, and ongoing evaluation are effective strategies in improving the quality of education as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the needs in the learning process to be more effective through the development of teaching materials with the ADDIE model. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The ADDIE model involves five main stages: (1) Analysis, conducted through a needs analysis questionnaire and interviews; (2) Design, in the form of making flowcharts and storyboards; (3) Development, including validation by material, language, and teaching material design experts; (4) Implementation, with small and large scale trials through control and experimental classes; and (5) Evaluation, which focuses on revising and improving teaching materials. The feasibility test results show that the teaching materials developed have very good quality, with a percentage of design feasibility of 100% (Very valid), material feasibility of 95% (Very valid), and language feasibility of 97.5% (Very valid). In the effectiveness test of small-scale teaching materials, an average of 81.7% (Good) was obtained, while the large-scale trial obtained an average of 82.2% (Good). These results indicate that the teaching materials developed are effective and feasible to use in supporting the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation of vocational curricula in pesantren-based madrasahs as an integrative strategy to produce graduates who are technically competent, spiritually religious, and adaptive to labor market demands. The research was conducted at MA Nurul Qarnain Sukowono Jember and MA Al-Fauzan Labruk Lumajang using a qualitative-descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings show that curriculum planning is carried out participatively, involving various stakeholders and based on SWOT analysis, Islamic values of Ahlussunnah wal-Jama’ah, and synchronization with national regulations. In its implementation, the madrasahs apply a project-based learning approach that integrates practical skills and Islamic character education, resulting in a “character-based skills” model rooted in the pesantren tradition. Meanwhile, curriculum evaluation is conducted in a tiered and collaborative manner through a modified CIPP model incorporating reflective, spiritual, and social dimensions, where student outcomes are assessed not only academically but also through community and market recognition. This study offers a theoretical contribution by enriching the theories of Gordon, Oliva, and the CIPP evaluation model, and presents a novelty in the form of a contextual-religious vocational curriculum model based on the pesantren system, which is feasible for adoption in contemporary Islamic education. The findings indicate that systemic integration of skills education and Islamic values can serve as a foundation for transforming madrasah education into a competitive and locally rooted system.

Abstract

Zapin Pecah Dua Belas Dance, a traditional Malay performance rooted in Islamic values, serves not only as a cultural heritage but also as a strategic medium for Islamic character education among youth in Pekanbaru. This study aims to explore and formulate structured strategies for instilling Islamic character values through this traditional art form. Employing a qualitative descriptive-exploratory approach with an ethnokoreological lens, the research analyzes how moral values such as sincerity, humility, discipline, cooperation, and cultural identity are embedded in the dance’s movements, lyrics, and pedagogical practices. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving educators, artists, and cultural communities. The findings reveal a threefold strategy: teaching (value transmission through instruction), awakening (building emotional and reflective awareness), and sustaining (reinforcement through cultural engagement and digital media). This study concludes that Zapin Pecah Dua Belas offers a contextually effective and emotionally resonant model for Islamic character formation and cultural preservation, contributing to a culturally grounded approach to Islamic education.

Abstract

Diagnostic assessment is important in evaluating learning to identify students' readiness, learning difficulties, and conceptual errors to maintain the quality of education. This study aims to analyze research trends on the theme of diagnostic assessment in Indonesian journals on educational evaluation and assessment during the period 2014 to 2025. This research employs a systematic review of articles published in educational evaluation and assessment journals indexed in SINTA. The results of this systematic review indicate that the primary focus of research in this field is the development and validation of diagnostic instruments, with a predominance of quantitative approaches and research and development methods. Research subjects primarily involve high school students, while studies involving elementary school students or educators remain limited. The use of qualitative and mixed methods is still rare. These findings indicate that there is still room for expanding the approaches and focus of diagnostic assessment research in Indonesia to generate a more comprehensive understanding that can support educational practices that are more responsive to students' needs. This study can serve as an initial reference for the development of future research and practices in diagnostic assessment.

Abstract

In a region like Aceh, where the echoes of past conflict still shape the present, education carries the weight of healing and rebuilding. This study explores how peace education is thoughtfully woven into Arabic language learning at PTKIN Aceh. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through classroom observations, conversations with lecturers and students, and a close examination of teaching materials. The findings show that when Arabic is taught through meaningful texts such as verses from the Qur’an, classical poetry, and real-life articles it becomes more than a language lesson. It becomes a space for reflection, dialogue, and the growth of values like empathy, tolerance, and mutual respect. Students shared how learning Arabic in this way helped them see the language as a bridge not just to knowledge, but to one another. Discussions in class sparked deeper awareness, especially when connected to Aceh’s own journey toward peace. Still, the effort is not without its challenges: limited resources, a lack of lecturer preparation in peace-based pedagogy, and students who are just beginning to connect language with life. Even so, the dedication of educators and the richness of the texts used offer real hope. This study suggests that when peace values are intentionally embedded in Arabic instruction, the classroom can become a place where harmony is not only taught but quietly practiced.
