Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to enhance student engagement in the social studies learning process by utilising interactive worksheets based on Liveworksheet. This study is motivated by the low level of student engagement in social studies lessons, characterised by a decline in students’ activity, enthusiasm, participation, and critical thinking skills during the teaching and learning process. This study employs a quantitative descriptive research design. Sampling was conducted using the Purposive Sampling technique, resulting in Year 7 being selected as the sample class. Data collection techniques included observation of student engagement during the learning process and documentation. Data analysis utilised quantitative descriptive analysis using average percentages. The results of the study indicate that in the first session, student engagement was in the ‘fair’ category at 76% and improved to the ‘good’ category in the second session, reaching 84%. Students became more active in asking questions, completed tasks on time, and demonstrated higher levels of participation and interest throughout the learning process in the classroom. Consequently, it can be concluded that the use of interactive worksheets based on Liveworksheets is effective in enhancing student engagement in Social Studies lessons.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the growing need to strengthen character education rooted in local cultural values amid the challenges of globalization that threaten the moral identity of younger generations. The Babad Sakra, a traditional Sasak manuscript, presents the story of Jero Siraga, a local leader whose life embodies ethical integrity, social responsibility, and moral courage. This research aims to explore the leadership values represented by Jero Siraga and analyze their relevance as a source for culture-based character education within the Sasak context. Using a qualitative method with an ethnopedagogical approach, the study employed content analysis of the Babad Sakra and interviews with local community figures in Surabaya Village, East Lombok. The findings reveal that Jero Siraga’s transformation from loyalty to political power toward moral devotion to his people reflects the essence of ethical leadership. Core values such as gawe patut (righteousness), gawe berani (moral courage), and gawe luhur (sacrifice for truth) demonstrate strong pedagogical potential for integration into culturally based Social Studies education. The study concludes that the story of Jero Siraga serves not only as a historical narrative but also as a living pedagogical source for nurturing Indonesian students with integrity, empathy, and a deep sense of moral responsibility.

Abstract

Teaching materials are comprehensive learning resources compiled in accordance with the established syllabus and aligned with learning principles and students’ learning needs. The objective of this study focuses on the development of teaching materials for National Historiography that are suited to students’ learning styles and the challenges of higher education. The research method employed is Research and Development, utilising the ADDIE model, which comprises several stages: analysis, design, development, and implementation. The results of the material validation test, using 20 indicators, yielded a score of 87% out of 100%, with a recommendation of ‘highly suitable’. The instrument used in the expert review was an expert validation sheet designed as a Likert-scale questionnaire to assess the suitability of the product from a content perspective. The product’s effectiveness was tested using a questionnaire administered to a limited group. Based on the questionnaire results, it was found that the presentation of the material in the National Historiography textbook was rated as ‘very good’ by 36.4% of respondents, whilst 60.6% rated it as ‘good’. The presentation of the National Historiography textbook was rated as good and appropriate for students’ learning needs because the material was structured, the layout was neat, and the use of tables and summaries helped to clarify the content and made the book visually appealing and practical to use.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of ethical and moral values in fostering students' sense of patriotism as an effort to build student character. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a survey method. The research subjects consisted of 33 students of SMP Negeri 34 Bandar Lampung who were members of the student council (OSIS) and school task force. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed after the implementation of a socialization activity on strengthening ethical and moral values integrated with the value of patriotism. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis techniques. The results showed that the socialization activity received very positive responses from students with an average percentage of 87.41%, which falls into the very good category. The indicator analysis revealed that students' understanding of ethical values reached 88%, moral values 89%, students' social attitudes 86%, and patriotism attitudes 87%. These findings indicate that the integration of ethical and moral values through character education socialization activities can be an effective strategy in fostering students' sense of patriotism and developing character based on national values. Therefore, the cultivation of ethical, moral, and patriotic values needs to be continuously implemented through various educational activities in schools.
