Abstract

Optimal nutritional fulfillment is a crucial factor in supporting the development of elementary school students, both in terms of health and learning readiness. One national policy designed to address this issue is the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG). This study aims to analyze the role of the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) in supporting the development of elementary school students and identify key findings and implementation challenges based on a literature review. This study used a qualitative approach with a literature review method on 20 relevant scientific articles published in the last five years and obtained through the Google Scholar, Garuda, and SINTA databases. The study results indicate that the MBG Program contributes positively to fulfilling students' nutritional needs, improving concentration and learning readiness, cognitive development, learning motivation, and character building and healthy lifestyle habits. However, the implementation of the MBG Program still faces various challenges, particularly related to the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, human resources, and program sustainability. Therefore, strengthening cross-sectoral coordination and a continuous monitoring system is needed so that the benefits of the MBG Program can be optimized in supporting the quality of basic education.

Abstract

This study aimed to reduce tantrum behavior in students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through the implementation of a structured time-out strategy in a Special School (SLB). The research was motivated by the high frequency, duration, and intensity of tantrums that significantly disrupted the learning process, while existing behavior-management practices were largely reactive and unstructured. Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted in three cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were two students with ASD who frequently exhibited tantrum behavior. Data were collected through structured observations, interviews with teachers and parents, and documentation, and were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative approaches with triangulation to ensure data credibility. The findings showed a consistent reduction in tantrum frequency, duration, and intensity across the three cycles. By the final cycle, tantrum intensity decreased from moderate–severe to mild. The study concludes that the time-out strategy is an effective and practical intervention for managing tantrum behavior in students with ASD in special school settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principals’ managerial competence and work motivation on teacher performance in senior and vocational high schools in Pemulutan District. Using a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design, the research involved 81 teachers through census technique. Data collection instruments consisted of validated Likert-scale questionnaires (r>0.374; α>0.90). Data analysis employed Spearman correlation and multiple linear regression. Based on the analysis, principals’ managerial competence has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with a moderate contribution, while work motivation shows a stronger and more dominant positive influence with a higher contribution. Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect teacher performance with a strong combined contribution and a small synergistic effect. The regression equation further indicates that work motivation has a greater impact than managerial competence, making it the most influential factor in improving teacher performance. Managerial implications: principals need to optimize managerial competence while facilitating the development of teachers’ work motivation to enhance education quality.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of empowering leadership as the primary determinant of teacher performance and explores the mediating mechanism of innovative work behavior in this relationship. Involving 95 teachers from three public senior high schools in Sungai Lilin District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, this quantitative research examines the influence of empowering leadership and innovative work behavior on teacher performance. The findings confirm that empowering leadership is the main determinant of teacher performance and strongly supports the research hypothesis. Although innovative work behavior is related to performance, its influence weakens when considered alongside leadership, indicating it likely acts as an intermediary factor shaped by leadership. Together, both variables contribute to teacher performance, but they are not the only determinants, as other factors also play a role. These findings provide practical implications that developing school principals' empowering leadership capacity is a priority strategy for systematically improving teacher performance.

Abstract

The educational intervention program integrates theoretical knowledge with classroom practice at SD Negeri 018 Galang. This study examined the effect of a problem-based learning (PBL) model on students’ literacy and numeracy skills. A pre-test and post-test experimental design was employed with a sample of 15 students. The instruments consisted of expert-validated literacy and numeracy tests. Data were analyzed using normality tests, Wilcoxon signed ranks tests, and paired sample t-tests. The pre-test results indicated that literacy scores were not normally distributed (p = 0.010), while post-test literacy scores showed a normal distribution (p = 0.165). Numeracy scores, both before and after the intervention, were normally distributed. Of the 15 participants, 12 students experienced a decline in literacy scores (Z = −2.458, p = 0.014). A significant difference was found between pre-test and post-test scores (t = −3.287, p = 0.005), suggesting the need for careful evaluation of the learning model. Overall, the findings revealed a decrease in literacy outcomes, indicating that the applied strategies require adjustment to better support learning. In contrast, numeracy outcomes showed significant improvement, reflecting effective problem-based learning through contextual activities and educational games related to daily experiences.

Abstract

The linguistic landscape in junior high schools forms part of the language ecology that shapes communication culture and language behavior within school communities. This study examines linguistic landscape patterns in junior high schools based on principles of linguistic politeness, focusing on form, function, and politeness messages. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research applied visual and content analysis to 44 linguistic landscape items collected from three schools in Sub Rayon 02, Bekasi City: SMPIT At-Taqwa Narogong, SMP Bani Taqwa, and SMP Nurul Huda. Data were obtained through visual documentation and analyzed using linguistic landscape theory and Brown and Levinson’s politeness framework. The findings show that school linguistic landscapes are dominated by institutional (top-down) signs with relatively uniform forms, such as posters, banners, and notice boards, serving both informational and symbolic functions. Politeness analysis reveals that 68% of the signs reflect polite language through positive politeness strategies, while 32% employ less polite forms, including direct imperatives and prohibitions. Overall, the study concludes that although school linguistic landscapes represent politeness values, further reinforcement is needed to create more persuasive and humanistic visual messages.

Abstract

TikTok and Instagram social media have become interactive spaces in the lives of Generation Z. Platform use influences how communicate, obtain information, and learn non-formally, there impact's digital citizenship identity. This study aims to analyze the level of TikTok and Instagram usage, measure relationship between social media usage and digital citizenship identity, and strengthen the role of digital citizenship identity in students. The study used mixed-methods approach with sequential explanation strategy. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to 120 students, while qualitative data were collected through interviews to deepen the results. The findings indicate that TikTok and Instagram usage are in the high category. Spearman's correlation test showed a significant relationship between social media usage and students' digital citizenship identity (r = 0.433; p < 0.05). Qualitative findings confirm that TikTok and Instagram social media content plays a role in increasing civic literacy, tolerance, and national awareness. The study's conclusions indicate that TikTok and Instagram have an important role in strengthening Generation Z's digital citizenship identity, especially when used positively and selectively, and when they support national values. This study also encourages the development of educational content on social media for civic learning.

Abstract

Many academics have researched the use of Zoom interactive media at various levels of education. However, little research has been conducted on the use of Zoom interactive media in rural areas. This study details the use of Zoom in a junior high school located in a rural area in Bondowoso Regency, East Java, along with the various problems encountered. This research uses narrative research with the aim of analyzing the experiences of two informatics teachers in using interactive Zoom media in rural areas. Information was obtained through narrative stories/interviews conducted repeatedly and direct observation to maintain data validity. These results suggest that narrative research has three dimensions: looking back (reasons and motivations of participants), looking inward (implementation of Zoom interactive media), looking forward (goals and expectations in using Zoom in Informatics Education). The study's conclusion is that the primary elements influencing the usage of interactive Zoom media in the classroom are a teacher's proficiency, educational background, expertise with technology, and sufficient facilities for students.

Abstract

The decline in physical activity among elementary school students has become a growing concern due to sedentary lifestyles and limited movement-based learning activities. In response, the Healthy School Movement Program encourages schools to promote students’ physical health through structured physical activities. This study aims to analyze the implementation of traditional games within the GSS Program to improve students’ physical health at State Elementary School 2 Muara Dua, Lhokseumawe City. A descriptive qualitative case study approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students, and were analyzed thematically using NVivo software. The findings reveal that traditional games such as gobak sodor and engklek effectively enhance students’ physical fitness, endurance, and activity levels. Supporting factors include strong teacher involvement, high student enthusiasm, and the availability of open spaces, while constraints consist of limited facilities, time constraints, and weather conditions. These challenges were addressed through flexible scheduling and adaptive use of school spaces. In conclusion, the integration of traditional games within the GSS Program is an effective and enjoyable strategy for improving physical health while simultaneously fostering character development and social interaction, thereby supporting a holistic healthy school environment rooted in local cultural values.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the digitalization of identification and initial assessment processes for children with special needs (ABK) in inclusive elementary education over the past five years. Guided by PRISMA standards, relevant studies were collected from databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, and DOAJ. The review identifies three primary categories of digital applications: digital screening and diagnostic tools, e-assessment and reporting platforms, and assistive technologies with accessibility features. Findings indicate that digitalization improves administrative efficiency, ensures more consistent documentation, supports data-driven monitoring, and strengthens collaboration between teachers and parents. Despite these advantages, significant challenges remain, including inconsistent validity and reliability of assessment instruments, unequal access to technology, limited teacher digital competencies, and ethical concerns related to data privacy and algorithmic bias. The review emphasizes that effective implementation depends not only on technological tools but also on ecosystem readiness, teacher professional development, ethical governance, and child-centered design. Furthermore, major gaps persist in long-term empirical research, standardized assessment workflows, and governance systems to address privacy protection and bias reduction. Overall, digitalization offers substantial potential to enhance inclusive education assessment practices when supported by comprehensive planning and responsible implementation.
