Abstract

This study discusses the efforts of majlis taklim management to instill a clean-living attitude and behavior in combating corrupt practices during political years, including local contests such as regional elections. Furthermore, it is considered important because the majlis taklim congregation consists of individuals constantly nurtured mentally and spiritually through long and regular periods of guidance. In the context of Metro City, there are suspicions of a high prevalence of pragmatic political behavior during campaigns. Therefore, the central concern revolves around the clarity of the role and roadmap of a majlis taklim managed by the DKM (mosque management board) in promoting sound political morality and its potential to diminish the prevalence of money politics during regional elections. This study takes the form of a qualitative and descriptive analysis approach, using interviews and questionnaires as the main data sources distributed to the managers and congregation members. The findings indicate that the majlis taklim in Metro City has regular studies cultivating social morality during elections. However, these initiatives are not yet integrated into a standardized printed curriculum that can serve as a comprehensive reference. A majlis taklim congregation is a group of people who are not easily swayed by money politics during regional elections but some members are still inclined towards such practices.

Abstract

This research attempted to explore the determinants of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) compliance behavior in paying zakat (alms). This study involved business owners (SMEs) in the city of Mataram as the population and 176 people as the sample. The data were collected through online survey instruments employing the purposive sampling method. The testing technique and data analysis utilized Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Hence, the findings discovered that zakat literacy, Islamic egalitarianism, and moral norms influence the intention of SMEs owners to pay zakat. On the other hand, intention affects the owner's choice and compliance to pay zakat. This study is essential for zakat institutions to have a new strategy to encourage SMEs owners to pay zakat, considering the great potential in Indonesia. Distribution of zakat funds to asnaf (noun group of people worthy of receiving a Muslim tithe) fairly and equitably will attract more owners to pay their zakat through zakat institutions. Transparency and fairness in the distribution of zakat funds can increase the level of trust of SMEs owners in zakat institutions.

Abstract

Science and Islam were originally one in the realm of the unity of existence (al-wahidat al-wujud) Allah SWT. Still, when humans accepted them, they became multi-fragmented because of the capacity of each human mind. Islamic education, which originates from the Qur'an and Hadiths contributes to integrating Science and Islam. For this reason, this article aimed to explore the implementation of the reintegration of Science and Islam in postgraduate Islamic education learning at one of the Islamic tertiary institutions in Jambi province, Indonesia. This study used a qualitative approach to explore and understand the participants' experiences. The data were derived from the results of semi-structured interviews and free interviews, which explain and convey explicit or implied meanings or symbols from the collected data related to the steps for implementing three categories, namely the conception of knowledge, approaches to implementing the reintegration of Science and Islam in Islamic education learning, and materials used. The data were processed and analyzed using domain analysis to obtain an overview of the implementation of Science and Islamic reintegration in Islamic education. The study results explain that the strategic steps for implementing the reintegration of Science and Islam in Islamic education learning have three main aspects: The conception of science in the reintegration of Science and Islam in learning must be carried out to have one perception and one vision. That is, all knowledge comes from one source, namely Allah SWT. An approach to faith is based on a solid monotheism by combining and explaining signs found in nature (Kauniyah verses) with signs learned in the Qur'an and Hadith (Kauliyah verses). The Material comes from Science and Islam, the Qur'an, and Hadiths. Science as a social science is developed and linked to Islamic Science, the Qur'an, and Hadiths which form the basis of its development.

Abstract

The concept of childfree represents a multifaceted issue, influenced by a diverse array of factors, including economic, cultural, social, and philosophical considerations. A comprehensive understanding of the childfree phenomenon necessitates an approach that extends beyond strict reliance on religious interpretation, incorporating other scientific disciplines. Therefore, the integration of morals and science through a multidisciplinary framework becomes imperative. In this context, the mubadalah approach, aligned with the integration-interconnection paradigm, emerges as a suitable methodology for unravelling the complexities of childfree within society. This article endeavours to analyse childfree from the perspective of mubadalah, prioritizing the dialogue between science and morality within the context of marriage. The research methodology employed is descriptive qualitative, employing a literature study approach. The findings reveal that employing the semipermeable mubadalah method to analyse the position of childfree in society has led to the emergence of three new perspectives: the just perspective, the humanist perspective, and the perspective rooted in the value of tawhid. These three perspectives encompass the following notions: firstly, the presence of children assumes a central role in the marital union, requiring thoughtful consideration by both partners; secondly, childfree is not solely a matter of fitrah (innate human disposition), but also involves psychological and moral dimensions; and finally, childfree, from a medical standpoint, is permissible within the context of Islam. These perspectives, derived from medical disciplines, moral frameworks, and religious interpretations, contribute to a nuanced understanding of childfree.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the encounter of da'wah digitalization with urban Muslim culture. The attention on this topic was due to the concern about the dislocation of traditional da'wah activities because of the demands of a fluctuating, fast-paced, and dynamic urban culture associated with the transformation from conventional to digital media. A virtual ethnography approach was applied with the data collected through Google Trends and analyzed manually. The results showed that da'wah media, such as images, videos, memes, animations, and podcasts, was becoming a significant trend among netizens. The media was associated with speed, effectiveness, as well as time and cost efficiency in delivering da'wah messages, which was particularly relevant for urban Muslim with fast-paced and hectic lifestyles. Da'wah digitalization also reinforced the urban Muslim culture of instant religious fulfillment. However, the tendency to consume da'wah materials instantly was associated with the risk of disseminating inaccurate religious information and disrupting the fragmentation of religious authority. This showed the need for careful monitoring and management of digital da'wah content to ensure the quality and sustainability of balanced religious education in a dynamic urban context.

Abstract

The current study uncovers a new paradigm in studying employee voice using a religious approach: Islamic work ethics (IWE). The research model involves a direct relationship between IWE and employee voice, indirectly through civility climate, and a moderate effect of organizational identification in urban Muslim communities, especially in the education sector. A time-lag data-collecting method captured 278 lecturers at various Islamic universities. The PLS-SEM analysis results confirmed most hypotheses: first, the IWE positively relates to civility and employee voice. Second, the result demonstrated that civility climate plays a significant role in encouraging employee voice. However, the study did not find evidence to support civility climate's interplay role in the relationship between IWE and employee voice. Finally, the research confirmed that organizational identification is a crucial predictor and moderator of employee voice. The urban Muslim community is a diverse group, both culturally and ethnically. This diversity creates an environment that fosters positive cultural exchange and critical thought discussions regarding Islamic thought. The study's findings provide valuable insights into the relevance and implementation of IWE in urban Muslim communities, particularly in Indonesia's education sector. The proposed model has practical and theoretical implications for HR practitioners and the study of IWE in modern society and organizations.
