Abstract

This study investigates the role of maternal piety in shaping children’s personality development based on a thematic interpretation of Surah Ali Imran (verses 35–36). Using a qualitative approach and literature-based design, the study draws data from Qur’anic verses, classical and modern tafsir, and supporting scholarly literature. Data were analyzed through content analysis within a thematic Qur’anic exegesis framework. The findings indicate four central points: (1) children are divine trusts endowed with innate purity, for which mothers bear primary moral responsibility; (2) while both parents share educational roles, fathers tend to fulfill material needs, whereas mothers focus on emotional and psychological nurturing; (3) mothers act as the child’s first educators and moral anchors; and (4) environmental factors play a major role in personality formation, with the mother as the most consistent influence. The study concludes that maternal piety plays a crucial role in shaping the moral, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of a child within Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This research aims to explore more deeply the Islamic education policy in public schools, especially at the SMA / SMK level where the implementation of Islamic Religious Education in public schools is based on curriculum and lesson plans and focuses on learning outcomes. This research uses the literature study method. Data collection techniques were obtained from the library in the form of books, journals, and relevant conference proceedings, especially those related to Islamic education policies in public schools, especially at the senior high school/ vocational high school level. The research concludes that Islamic education policy in high school/vocational schools in Indonesia needs to focus on the integration of Islamic values in a curriculum that is balanced with general education. This can be done by strengthening the learning of morals, fiqh, and Islamic history, as well as providing space for students to develop critical and creative skills. In addition, teacher training in pedagogical approaches that are inclusive and based on Islamic values is essential to create a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

The leadership of Umar ibn al-Khattab marked a pivotal transformation in early Islamic governance, shifting Islam from a spiritual community into a structured political entity. This study examines the administrative reforms and statecraft innovations introduced by Umar, with a focus on his political ijtihad in shaping a functional and inclusive Islamic polity. Using a historical-critical approach and qualitative analysis of classical sources and modern scholarship, the paper explores Umar’s establishment of key institutions such as the Diwan system, separation of powers, judicial independence, public finance, and internal security. His reformist ijtihad, including the abolition of zakat for muallaf, suspension of hudud during famine, and institutionalization of public consultation, reflects a dynamic interpretation of Islamic governance responsive to socio-political realities. The study argues that Umar’s policies laid the foundational framework for Islamic constitutionalism and demonstrate the flexibility of Islamic law in adapting to administrative complexity. These reforms reveal not only Umar’s personal virtues of justice, consultation, and austerity but also a visionary political strategy that integrated religious principles with pragmatic state-building.

Abstract

This literature-based study revisits the political consolidation, fiscal innovation, and administrative reforms achieved by the Umayyad Caliphate (661–750 CE). Using a qualitative historiographical approach, it synthesises primary chronicles and recent academic works to expose three key developments: (1) transformation from elective caliphate to hereditary monarchy; (2) economic unification through Arabisation of currency and bureaucracy; and (3) layered administrative offices that standardised taxation, justice, and communication across a trans-regional empire. These findings show how how early government system, monetary policy, and institutional design under Muawiyah, Abdul Malik, and Umar II propelled unprecedented expansion yet simultaneously seeded structural weaknesses that precipitated decline. The article clarifies the caliphate’s dual legacy: state-building prototypes for later Muslim polities and cautionary lessons on centralised power; and suggests comparative avenues for future Islamic governance research.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the optimization of students’ Arabic speaking skills (maharah kalam) through the implementation of a communicative-interactive learning model at SMPIT Mutiara Insani Delanggu Klaten in the 2024/2025 academic year. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation analysis. The findings revealed that the use of communicative-interactive strategies, such as group discussions, role-playing, hiwar techniques, and contextual vocabulary cards, significantly improved students’ fluency and speaking confidence. Despite challenges such as limited background knowledge and low self-confidence, teachers overcame these issues by providing scaffolding and creating a supportive learning environment. This study highlights the importance of building a language-rich environment and developing thematic vocabulary to effectively enhance students’ Arabic speaking skills.

Abstract

Religious pluralism is an undeniable reality in contemporary society, yet much of the discourse on Islamic tolerance remains limited to normative-theological or historical approaches, often overlooking Islam’s practical role in fostering interreligious harmony and addressing global challenges. This study aims to analyze the concept and practice of interreligious harmony from an Islamic perspective and explore Islam’s contribution to universal humanity. Using a library research method, the study collects and critically analyzes various classical and contemporary sources, including tafsir literature, scholarly books, and academic articles, to construct a comprehensive theoretical framework. The findings reveal that Islam offers a strong theological foundation for interfaith coexistence, exemplified through the principles of rahmatan lil ‘ālamīn, lakum dīnukum wa liya dīn, and reinterpretations of ahl al-dzimmah. Moreover, Islam contributes to global humanity through the promotion of ukhuwah insāniyah, social justice, environmental ethics, and peacebuilding values. These universal Islamic values, when actualized, have the potential to foster multicultural education, inclusive public policies, and sustained interreligious dialogue. Therefore, this study positions Islam not only as a religion of private devotion but also as a transformative force capable of building a more peaceful, just, and sustainable global civilization.

Abstract

This critical literature review examines the impact of TikTok usage on motivation and foreign language learning outcomes among students in Indonesia. Through an analysis of 26 relevant articles from reputable sources, the review reveals that TikTok has a positive effect on student engagement and foreign language acquisition, particularly in vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking skills. The platform’s interactive short videos, diverse educational content, and the involvement of content creators are key factors contributing to its effectiveness as a learning tool. However, challenges such as potential distractions, varying content quality, and limitations in video length must be addressed. To enhance TikTok’s educational value, it is recommended that educators and content creators collaborate, providing strategic guidance to optimize learning outcomes. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating TikTok into foreign language learning in a more innovative and flexible manner.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the differences in educational policies between Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah Islamic boarding schools as two models of Islamic education in Indonesia. A qualitative approach was used with literature study and in-depth interviews with educational figures from both institutions. The results show that NU emphasizes education based on classical Islamic texts, traditional approaches, and teacher-student relationships with a strong sufistic spirit. Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah is oriented towards a modern educational system, integrating religious and general sciences, and implementing education management according to a modern organization. Furthermore, the curriculum policies, teaching methods, and educational goals of the two institutions reflect different orientations; in which NU is more likely to focus on the formation of religious character through the mastery of classical Islamic knowledge, Muhammadiyah emphasizes the development of Muslim intellectual leaders who are adaptive to the times. The findings confirm the importance of understanding various approaches in Islamic education as a national education heritage.

Abstract

The creative industry is an economic sector powered by individual creativity, talent, and skills, which generates both additional value and employment opportunities. In Batu City, its growth is parallel to urban development while structural barriers still exist. As such, the study analyzes the city's creative industry development from 2001 to 2022 using a historical approach involving source collection, critique, interpretation, and historiography. It was inspired by Ibn Khaldun’s integration of economic and sociological analysis. The findings indicate an increase in the number of creative industry actors. However, there were only 9 out of 365 micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Batu, Bumiaji, and Junrejo that succeeded to enter into the export market. The primary challenges include limited capital, low product quality, and weak business management. Thus, there is a need for strengthened collaboration among stakeholders to enhance the local economic impact of the industry.

Abstract

This research critically examines the concept of tsiqah in hadith science and its relevance as an essential foundation for Islamic character education. In the modern era, the urgency of fostering individuals with integrity and credibility has become vital. In the Islamic tradition, the validity of hadith heavily relies on tsiqah, which encompasses two main pillars: ‘adalah (moral integrity, honesty) and dhabt (accuracy, meticulousness). Utilizing a qualitative approach and library research, this study analyzes classical hadith literature and Islamic character education studies. It finds that the values inherent in tsiqah, such as honesty, trustworthiness, meticulousness, and responsibility, are not only relevant for hadith authentication but also form the core of Islamic character. This concept offers a rich pedagogical framework, where the figure of a tsiqah narrator can serve as a role model, and the principles of hadith verification can be adapted into learning methods that cultivate critical, responsible, and credible character in students. Thus, this research concludes that tsiqah is a solid foundation for shaping Muslim individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also possess moral integrity and can be trusted within society.
