Abstract

This study explores the social values embedded in Tari Kejei, a sacred traditional dance of the Rejang ethnic community in Batu Ampar Village, Kepahiang Regency. The research aims to reveal the cultural meanings, moral lessons, and communal practices preserved through this dance amidst the challenges of globalization. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving community leaders, dancers, and local residents. The findings indicate that Kejei dance reflects moral values such as cooperation and respect, aesthetic values through costumes, music, and symbolic movements, educational values fostering social responsibility and solidarity, and spiritual values rooted in gratitude and reverence for ancestors. Efforts to preserve the dance include establishing cultural studios, engaging youth, performing at local festivals, and utilizing social media. The study concludes that Kejei dance is not merely a performance but a medium for cultural continuity, social cohesion, and intergenerational identity transmission.

Abstract

This study examines the fulfillment of child maintenance obligations (nafkah) by single parents in Bangkinang Kota, Riau, Indonesia, through an Islamic legal sociology perspective. Using qualitative descriptive methodology, this research involved in-depth interviews with six single parent informants, all widowed mothers, selected through purposive sampling across four administrative areas. The study reveals that despite structural and economic challenges, single parents successfully fulfill the three main components of Islamic nafkah (food, clothing, and shelter) by implementing the principle of capability adjustment (min wus’atih) prescribed in Islamic law. They develop adaptive strategies including income diversification, social network optimization, and priority-based resource allocation that prioritize children’s needs. The findings demonstrate that single parents maintain both material and spiritual nafkah through intensive communication and moral guidance, compensating for the absence of a spouse. This research contributes to contemporary Islamic family law discourse by showing how traditional principles can adapt to modern social realities while preserving core Islamic values.

Abstract

Gadget addiction among children, particularly those of the Alpha Generation, has become a serious concern due to its negative impacts on physical, mental, and social development. This study aimed to increase students’ awareness of gadget addiction and promote preventive measures. A community service program was conducted at SMP N 3 Mojogedang involving 35 seventh-grade students. The intervention included educational sessions, discussions, and distribution of infographics. Students’ knowledge was assessed using a pretest and posttest design. The findings showed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge: 94.29% of participants achieved a good category after the intervention compared to only 14.29% before. Educational interventions are effective in raising awareness and preventing gadget addiction among Alpha Generation students, highlighting the importance of school-based preventive education.

Abstract

Birds play an important role in ecosystem as pollinators and seed dispersers, so avian diversity can serve as an indicator of environmental quality. This study was at Muaro Jambi Temple, a National Cultural Heritage Area (KCBN), and began with a presentation on observation techniques, field identification, and understanding of ecological characteristics. The survey was conducted in two observation zones, namely the core zone and the buffer zone, using the point count method. Observers stood at specific points within the habitat and recorded bird sightings during defined time periods. Observations were conducted for one week in August 2025, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The study recorded 79 species comprising a total of 327 individual birds. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’) of 3.75 indicates a very high level of diversity in the area. Several species found are protected, including frugivorous and pollinating birds. Based on the IUCN Red List, identified species include the Java Sparrow (Vulnerable), the Ciblek/Perenjak (Near Threatened), and a numerous other species categorized as Least Concern. These findings emphasize the importance of conservation efforts at KCBN Muaro Jambi to preserve habitats and maintain the ecological function of birds.

Abstract

This study examines Shaykh Nawawi al-Bantani’s educational thought through library-based research using content and descriptive analysis. His ideas remain highly relevant to contemporary Islamic education, emphasizing four pillars: foundations based on the Qur’an and Sunnah, goals centered on the development of knowledgeable and virtuous Muslims, a balanced curriculum between religious and secular sciences, and a learning method rooted in ethics and systematic process. His holistic and integrative model aligns with national education policy and addresses challenges of globalization and secularization. This study highlights the continuing relevance of Shaykh Nawawi al-Bantani’s religious-conservative educational philosophy to contemporary Islamic education. By reconstructing his classical ideas into a contextual and integrative model, the research bridges traditional moral–spiritual values with modern educational demands. Rooted in Qur’anic principles, ethics, and adab, his thought offers a holistic framework that unites cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions of learning. The study thus contributes to the renewal of Islamic educational philosophy and provides a practical foundation for character formation within the modern national education system.

Abstract

This study explores collaborative communication strategies based on youth participation in strengthening the destination image of Nam Indah Beach in Ohoitahit Village, North Dullah Island, Maluku. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings show that the village government’s communication strategies emphasize youth involvement, social media utilization, and collaboration between authorities and community groups. These efforts have enhanced the image of Nam Indah Beach as a destination with strong local identity and ecotourism potential, while fostering residents’ sense of ownership and environmental awareness. The study’s novelty lies in its community-based youth collaboration model that not only strengthens destination branding but also supports social transformation and community empowerment. It recommends improving participatory strategic communication capacity in tourism to enrich discourse in development communication and community-based tourism studies.

Abstract

This study explores al-Farabi’s educational thought and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Al-Farabi views education as a means to achieve human perfection (al-sa’ādah al-quṣwā) through the balanced development of rational, moral, and spiritual faculties. Employing a library research method with content analysis, this study examines primary sources such as Ara’ Ahl al-Madinah al-Fadilah and Kitab al-Tanbih ‘ala Sabil al-Sa’adah, alongside secondary literature discussing al-Farabi’s philosophical and pedagogical ideas. The findings reveal that al-Farabi emphasizes the integration of reason and virtue as the foundation of education, positioning the teacher as both a moral and intellectual guide. His concept of the “Active Intellect” (al-‘aql al-fa’āl) offers an epistemological framework that connects knowledge acquisition with spiritual elevation. These ideas remain highly relevant for modern Islamic education in addressing moral, intellectual, and spiritual challenges in the era of globalization.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technology over the past decade has transformed both social and educational life, especially among elementary school students who are increasingly exposed to digital devices and social media. While these technologies offer opportunities for creativity, communication, and information access, they also present risks such as misinformation, cyberbullying, and digital addiction. This study explores the role of teachers in fostering digital literacy and citizenship among elementary school students. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and classroom observations involving elementary school teachers in Jakarta. Thematic analysis was employed to identify teachers’ strategies, roles, and challenges in nurturing students’ digital literacy and civic responsibility. The findings reveal that teachers serve as educators, facilitators, and role models who promote responsible and ethical digital behavior through project-based learning, digital storytelling, moral modeling, and the creative use of interactive media. However, challenges such as limited teacher competence, insufficient contextual teaching materials, and low parental engagement remain. The study highlights the need to strengthen teacher training in digital ethics and pedagogy and offers practical implications for policymakers to enhance digital education aligned with Indonesia’s Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of scientific literature on Qur’anic literacy in the digital era in Indonesia during the period 2018–2024 using a bibliometric approach. A total of 16 scientific documents were retrieved from the Scopus database and analyzed using RStudio with the Bibliometrix package and the Biblioshiny interface. The results reveal that research on digital Qur’anic literacy in Indonesia has shown an increasing trend, although the number of publications remains limited. The dominant topics include Islamic education, the use of digital media in Qur’anic learning, and the dynamics of Islam in Indonesian society. Moreover, the level of collaboration among authors and institutions is largely national, with limited international contributions. These findings suggest that Qur’anic literacy in the digital era is not merely an adaptation to technological advancement but also a form of recontextualization of Islamic values within the modern digital environment. This study provides a foundational perspective for developing technology-based Qur’anic education models that maintain the authenticity of Islamic teachings while remaining relevant to the needs of the digital generation.

Abstract

The low level of patient satisfaction with healthcare services, especially in hospitals, indicates that civic engagement has not been fully implemented. This study aims to explore the actualization of civic engagement and identify the obstacles faced by medical records staff in healthcare services at PKU Muhammadiyah Karanganyar Hospital. This research is motivated by the low level of patient satisfaction with the healthcare services the community receives at the hospital. The method used in this study is a qualitative case study approach to obtain relevant data. Field findings indicate that the implementation of civic engagement at PKU Muhammadiyah Karanganyar Hospital is still limited. The role of the hospital director is crucial in encouraging the implementation of this principle. Some obstacles to this actualization include limited access to the technology used and limited access to health information. Therefore, the hospital director and his staff need to provide motivation and direct role models for hospital staff.
