Abstract

One of the negative impacts of the bad environment on people who live in metropolitan cities is individualism that can damage brotherhood’s values. This study aims to analyze the existence of the migrants’s paguyuban in strengthening the brotherhood of its members. The paguyuban in this research is the ‘Ikatan Keluarga Balingka’ (IKB) which is located in Medan. Balingka is one of village in West Sumatera. This study was employed a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the existence of the IKB Medan can be found when it is used as communication forum. The close brotherhood of migrants in IKB Medan can be seen when they get to know each other, feel the sensation of being in their hometown, and care for each other. So, efforts are needed to preserve local brotherhood to support national unity.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the strategic role of political education in fostering an inclusive and participatory civil society in Indonesia. Political education is one of the important instruments to develop civic awareness, increase active citizen participation, and strengthen civil society as a democratic foundation. Through literature analysis and library research, it highlights the political education's role in shaping an autonomous, critical and contributive society towards sustainable democratic development. However, political education in Indonesia remains exposed to various challenges, such as limited participatory curricula, limited educational access, and pedagogical barriers. Consequently, innovative strategies and government policy support are needed to strengthen the effectiveness of political education as an effort to empower civil society in Indonesia. In doing so, the study proposes practical recommendations for policy makers, educational institutions and civil society organizations to strengthen citizens as agents of social change and enhance democracy.

Abstract

The political education curriculum plays a crucial role in fostering political awareness and participation among young generations from an early age. This study aims to analyze the role of the political education curriculum in enhancing students’ political awareness and participation in schools, identify the challenges in its implementation in Indonesia, and offer solutions to improve its effectiveness. Using a qualitative approach through library research, the study finds that a curriculum integrated with democratic values, civic participation, and contextual learning can positively encourage students’ involvement in political life. However, challenges such as teachers’ limited competencies, inadequate teaching materials, and cultural resistance hinder its optimal implementation. As a solution, strengthening teacher capacity, updating curriculum content to reflect current socio-political dynamics, and promoting collaboration between schools, government, and civil society organizations are necessary. Therefore, the political education curriculum in schools, when implemented effectively, can function as a strategic tool to foster a democratic, participative, and critical generation of citizens.

Abstract

This study describes the association between the walking activity and then knowledge of energy concepts and metabolism in everyday life. This study utilized an embedded mixed methods design. Data on steps taken and calories consumed were recorded over a three month period (April-June 2025) using the Samsung Health application. The findings reveal fluctuations in physical activity, with particularly high levels occurring in May. The step count was shown to be positively associated with the calorie expenditure. Reflection revealed that the walks were a successful means of allowing the researchers to make sense of concepts of energy and metabolism. The present study finds that students can learn science during physical activity, and is a good method to narrow the theory and practice gap between the students’ life relation in the context of science learning gradually.

Abstract

This study investigates university students’ perceptions of the use of ChatGPT in developing critical thinking skills through a descriptive phenomenological approach. Data were gathered via in-depth interviews with eight students from various disciplines at Institut Az Zuhra Pekanbaru and analyzed using Colaizzi’s method. The results show that ChatGPT serves as a supportive tool for understanding concepts, constructing arguments, and engaging in critical comparison of ideas. Participants also reported increased motivation, curiosity, and reflective thinking. However, some concerns were noted, including dependency on the tool, diminished active thinking, and risks of academic dishonesty. The study highlights the dual role of AI in education—both as a catalyst for learning and as a potential source of ethical challenges. It emphasizes the importance of responsible and guided use of AI tools like ChatGPT in higher education to maximize their benefits while minimizing negative impacts.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics and challenges of implementing Islamic education policies at various educational levels in Indonesia, from primary to higher education. Using a descriptive-qualitative approach, it analyzes how these policies contribute to national education goals and address structural issues. The findings show that despite systematic regulation, significant obstacles remain, including unequal distribution and quality of educators, disparities in facilities between urban and rural areas, unstable curricula, and weak institutional coordination. These problems are compounded by limited professional training and insufficient integration of Islamic values and religious moderation. The authors proposed solutions, such as digitalizing Islamic education, strengthening teacher competence, reforming context-based curriculum, and increasing community involvement. The study highlights the importance of participatory and locally responsive policy reform to improve the quality and relevance of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study identifies and analyzes Buya Hamka’s views on religious moderation. The method used is library research with content analysis. Based on the research results, Buya Hamka’s views on religious moderation emphasize balance, steadfastness, justice, and tolerance. By applying these values, humans must understand and respect each other. Islam teaches a good relationship with God and other humans, where the practice of worship always produces a peaceful attitude towards others. Therefore, the ultimate goal of religious moderation, according to Buya Hamka, is the creation of happiness and peace among people of different beliefs. To actualize this concept of religious moderation, steps that can be taken include: incorporating related materials into formal education, holding seminars or talk shows, supporting content creators who promote diversity, and creating a platform about religious moderation. These steps are important because the millennial generation is very active on social media, allowing the values of peace to be conveyed and felt amidst existing differences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the objectives of Islamic education and its curriculum from Harun Nasution’s perspective using a library research method through books and scientific journals. The findings show that Harun Nasution’s thoughts on the Islamic education curriculum are progressive and systematic, emphasizing spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social harmony. He proposed a phased curriculum suited to students’ cognitive, emotional, and spiritual growth, beginning with introducing basic values and moral formation in early education and culminating in broader religious understanding and social responsibility at higher levels. The foundation of this curriculum lies in placing morality at the center, stressing that religious education is not merely knowledge transfer or ritual practice but should shape strong character and tolerance. Harun highlighted rationality, causality, and guidance from the Qur’an and Sunnah, rejecting fatalism. Its success depends on ideal educators knowledgeable, exemplary, and adaptive, capable of integrating spirituality, reason, and social competence to form holistic individuals relevant to modern challenges.

Abstract

As traditional Islamic educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools have a strategic role in shaping the young generation’s religious character and noble morals. This study examines the internalization of moderate Islamic values ​​at pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding school) Nurul Hidayah Modern and the resilience of this Islamic boarding school in facing the challenges of religious-based radicalism. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with interviews, observation, and documentation. The study finds that the internalization of wasathiyyah values at pondok pesantren Nurul Hidayah (PPNH) occurs through teaching, habituation, and exemplary practices, fostering tolerance, balance, non-violence, and respect for local culture. These values are cognitively transmitted and practiced in students’ daily lives. The pesantren also demonstrates resilience against religious-based radicalism by integrating moderate curricula, strengthening national values, and upholding the charismatic leadership of the kiai. Hence, PPNH is both a center of character formation and a cultural pillar against radicalism.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of e-administration transformation on learning quality, with administrative efficiency serving as a mediating variable in the context of higher education. Using a SEM-PLS approach, data were collected from 179 respondents comprising lecturers, academic administrative staff, and students through random sampling. The findings confirm that e-administration transformation significantly enhances administrative efficiency, which in turn exerts a strong positive impact on learning quality. Furthermore, administrative efficiency partially mediates the relationship between e-administration transformation and learning quality, underscoring its strategic role as a driver of digital transformation. This study contributes to the development of the digital administrative transformation framework, offering theoretical novelty by integrating administrative efficiency with pedagogical quality improvement. Practically, the findings provide valuable insights for higher education institutions to redesign administrative systems that not only improve efficiency but also directly strengthen learning quality in the era of digital transformation.
