Abstract

This research aims to analyze the full day school policy at Al Bashirah Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MIS) and its impact on student character formation. With a qualitative approach and case study design, data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation from school principals, teachers, students and parents. The research results show that the implementation of Full day school at MIS Al Bashirah was successful in improving students' character values, especially discipline, responsibility and religiosity. Students show positive developments in their attitudes and behavior, which is reflected in active participation in academic and religious activities. However, this research also found several challenges, including effective time management and limited supporting facilities. Therefore, although this policy has the potential to strengthen character formation, adjustments need to be made so as not to burden students physically and mentally. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of character education policies in religious-based school environments.

Abstract

This research examines the strategic role of Ahmadiyah in education and da'wah in the modern Western world. The main issue addressed is how Ahmadiyah, often facing social and theological challenges, plays a significant role in promoting moderate and peaceful Islam in the West. The study aims to fill the gap in academic literature, which has rarely discussed Ahmadiyah's role in education and dawah. Using a library research approach, data were collected from relevant books, journals, and scientific articles. The research findings show that Ahmadiyah has established several educational institutions in Western countries, such as the UK and Canada, and uses modern media like MTA International to spread its message. Ahmadiyah also promotes interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence in pluralistic societies. The Tahrik Jadid movement, initiated by the second Khalifah, Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, supports the construction of mosques and global education programs. In conclusion, Ahmadiyah has played an important role in strengthening the image of Islam as a peaceful religion in the West despite various challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the da’wah carried out by Kiai Fauzan in ‘Pohon Keramat’ short story by Dawam Rahardjo. Kiai Fauzan’s da’wah has an unexpected impact, reflecting the dynamics between faith, society, and the environment. This study uses text analysis methods and an interdisciplinary approach to explore the implementation of his da’wah. The results indicate that his da’wah, which adheres to absolute belief in the principles of faith (monodisciplinary), without ecological, ethical philosophy, and sociological considerations (multidisciplinary) actually causes environmental damage (nature and society). This study indicates the need for a more holistic da’wah approach, paying attention to “local wisdom” and ecological-sociological impacts so that da’wah does not only focus on changing faith, but also on environmental sustainability and social welfare. Thus, it suggests an inclusive and adaptive da’wah model, which is able to embrace society without ignoring environmental aspects that are vital to life.

Abstract

Curriculum development is crucial to bridging the gap between graduate competencies and labor market demands, particularly amid rapid advancements in science and technology. This study aims to examine the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach within the Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum, with a specific focus on its implementation strategies and curriculum evaluation models. Using a qualitative library research method, data were gathered from various sources including documents, journals, books, and academic articles. The findings reveal that the OBE-based IRE curriculum is oriented toward achieving specific learning outcomes (CPL) through the use of case method and project-based learning. The Provus Discrepancy Evaluation Model was used to assess the alignment of curriculum implementation with established standards. These findings imply the need for a more contextual and responsive IRE curriculum design in addressing 21st-century challenges. The study recommends enhancing teacher training on OBE strategies and adjusting curriculum structures to better align with evolving professional demands.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of cognitive learning theory in teaching Qowaidul Imla’, particularly within the context of Arabic instruction for non-native speakers. Adopting an axiomatic approach that integrates linguistic and learning theories, the research emphasizes that successful language acquisition depends significantly on an in-depth understanding of both the nature of language and the mental processes involved in learning. Cognitive theory posits that learners actively construct knowledge through cognitive processes such as chunking, scaffolding, and retrieval practice. At UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu, the application of this approach in Qowaidul Imla’ instruction led to a marked improvement in students’ comprehension and writing abilities. Rather than simply delivering technical rules, lecturers encouraged students to grasp the underlying logic of Arabic orthographic structures. The use of cognitive strategies also enhanced learners’ confidence, engagement, and reflective capacity in addressing writing errors. Thus, cognitive theory not only offers a robust conceptual foundation for instructional design but also contributes meaningfully to creating Arabic language learning that is meaningful, contextualized, and aligned with how the human mind processes information.

Abstract

The Ratib Jum’at Kliwon tradition in Tanjung Belit Village is a religious and cultural practice that integrates Islamic values with local wisdom. This tradition plays a significant role in the spiritual, social, and cultural life of the community. It serves as a medium to strengthen the belief in monotheism (tauhid), encourage spiritual reflection, and promote repentance among community members. Socially, the tradition functions as a means of fostering solidarity, enhancing social cohesion, and maintaining communal harmony. Moreover, it contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage by harmonizing Islamic teachings with indigenous traditions. This study uses a qualitative approach through interviews and observations, focusing on the implementation, meaning, and social impacts of the Ratib Jum’at Kliwon tradition. The findings highlight that the tradition remains a vital part of community identity and resilience in the face of social changes.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the values of local wisdom embedded in the Berateb Kampung tradition of the Kuala Alam village community in Bengkalis Regency. As a religious cultural heritage practiced since 1960, Berateb Kampung is performed annually as a communal prayer for protection, well-being, and the reinforcement of Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah islamiyah). Using a qualitative approach and ethnographic method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that Berateb Kampung is not merely a ritual but a symbolically rich practice that embodies social interaction, religious devotion, and spiritual reflection. Viewed through George Herbert Mead’s theory of symbolic interactionism, the tradition demonstrates how social meaning is shaped through collective symbolic action. From an Islamic legal perspective, the practice aligns with the concept of ‘urf (custom) and is acceptable as long as it does not contradict established religious texts (nash syar’i). Ultimately, Berateb Kampung represents a form of local wisdom that harmonizes religious and cultural values, preserves communal identity, and deserves safeguarding in the face of modern challenges.

Abstract

his study aims to examine the dynamics of modernization in the management of Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Ternate and to analyze the extent to which these changes influence the characteristics and existence of the pesantren. The background of this research lies in the social transformation and the demands of the times, which require pesantren to adapt without abandoning their religious identity. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings show that modernization at Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah includes the development of an educational management system, the integration of general and religious curricula, and the use of information technology. Nevertheless, the traditional values of the pesantren are still upheld as the foundation for students’ character formation. The study concludes that modernization does not negate the essence of the pesantren, but rather strengthens its role as an adaptive Islamic educational institution. The implications of this study highlight the importance of inclusive and visionary managerial strategies for enabling pesantren to transform sustainably in facing global challenges.

Abstract

This article explores two prominent approaches in Qur’anic exegesis: al-Muqaran (comparative) and al-Mawdhu’i (thematic) methods. Employing a qualitative library-based methodology, the study investigates the theoretical foundations, procedural steps, and practical applications of both methods. The al-Muqaran method focuses on comparing interpretations from various exegetes or between related verses to identify similarities and differences in hermeneutical perspectives. In contrast, the al-Mawdhu’i method collects all Qur’anic verses related to a specific theme and analyzes them holistically to construct an integrated understanding of the subject. This article presents examples of both methods and evaluates their respective strengths and limitations. The findings reveal that while the comparative method enriches inter-textual and cross-exegetical dialogue, the thematic method offers systematic insights on contemporary issues. The study concludes that both approaches are complementary and vital in responding to the epistemological and practical demands of modern Qur’anic studies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of intercultural communication between the people of Ternate and the Bugis community, who have long resided in the region. As a port city with a rich history as a center of trade and royal power, Ternate serves as a social space that facilitates encounters, interactions, and negotiations between cultures. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that communication between Ternate and Bugis people takes place within a historical framework shaped by Islamic values, economic ties, and social solidarity. Cultural adaptation patterns are evident. Despite differences in cultural identity, both communities foster harmony through inclusive communicative practices and mutual respect for local values. This study affirms that Ternate is not merely a geographic location but a cultural arena that enriches the collective identity of its people.
