Abstract

Management is one very important part in a business, especially in housing management. The cage is a building that provides a sense of security and comfort for livestock. The cage is very important because the comfort of the cage will affect the productivity of the poultry. The purpose of cage management is to find out how far a farm provides comfort for livestock in order to achieve good productivity. therefore the research was conducted in the cage of PT. Inti Tani Satwa to see how the housing management is there. This type of research is qualitative. There are two data collected, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data comes from interviews and observations, while secondary data comes from the SOP/manual of maintenance management, then analyzed by descriptive method. The conclusion of the research is the cage model used at PT. Inti Tani Satwa is an open house model where the direction of the cage stretches from east to west. The equipment used for drinking water uses a nipple, while for the feed, it still uses a manual one. The frequency of feeding is done twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, for drinking water is given ad libitum. Coop maintenance and biosecurity are also applied to the laying hens of PT. Inti Tani Satwa.

Abstract

Animal welfare relates to physical and mental states that conform to the natural behavior of animals and need to be implemented to protect animals. Laying hens are very vulnerable to violating animal welfare principles because of high production targets but demands to minimize costs. The study was conducted in the laying hens of the grower phase of PT. ITS with direct observations, interviews, and discussions. The results were analyzed descriptively according to five principles of animal welfare, namely freedom from pain, injury, and disease, freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from heat and discomfort, freedom from fear and suffering, and freedom to express normal and natural behavior. The results show that the implementation of animal welfare at PT. ITS has been carried out, but there are also aspects that are not fulfilled, namely the aspect of being free to express normal and natural behavior that has not been fully implemented because the density of the rang or cage makes the animals very crowded so this must be corrected so that the livestock welfare aspects can be met.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of thawing time on the quality of native chicken spermatozoa. The research design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatment levels and 5 replications. The treatments used were P1 = thawing time of 20 seconds, P2 = thawing time of 30 seconds, P3 = thawing time of 40 seconds, P4 = thawing time of 50 seconds, P5 = thawing time of 60 seconds. Semen that has been diluted to be packed in 5 ministraw 0.25 ml, then equilibrated for 2 hours. After equilibration, proceed with the freezing process (prefreezing). Then the straws were stored in a liquid N2 container (-196°C) for 24 hours. frozen semen was thawed again with warm water at 37°C according to the treatment. Parameters observed were sperm motility and recovery rate. The results of this study showed that thawing time had no significant effect (P>0.05) on sperm motility and recovery rate. It was concluded that the thawing time of 20 to 60 seconds could be used in freezing native chicken semen.

Abstract

Azolla plants that have a high water content affect the fermentation results. This study aims to study the changes in the nutritional value of dry matter silage of complete feed based on azolla with different fermentation times. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of: RO: Fermentation 0 days (Control), R1: Fermentation 14 days And R2: Fermentation 28 days. Where the variable being measured is the value of dry matter (BK). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's test for the real difference test. The value shows that the dry matter value in the R0 treatment was significantly different (P<0.05) with the R2 treatment with R1, and in the R1 treatment it was not significantly different (P>0.05) with the R2 treatment.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the amount of Willingness to Pay (WTP) for halal chicken meat (DA), and (2) the characteristics of halal chicken consumers who are willing to pay the WTP price. A total of 50 halal chicken consumers taken from 2 traditional markets were interviewed as respondents. To determine WTP, a hypothetical market approach is used with the Continget Valuation Method (CVM). WTP prices are divided into two categories; WTP0 corresponds to the market price, and WTP1 increases 5% above the market price. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, and variable logistic regression. The results showed that 85.35% of consumers were willing to pay a 5% price increase, while 14.65% were not. With this 5% price increase, halal chicken suppliers get an additional sales turnover of IDR 16.8 million per month or 201.6 million per year. Characteristics of respondents who determine WTP are education level, household income, and consumer awareness of halal products. The study concluded that the halal WTP allows suppliers to build small-scale halal slaughterhouses (200-300 heads) per day

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of addition of vitamin E commercial in andromed diluent on the pre-freezing spermatozoa quality in simmental cattle. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) method with 3 treatments and 5 replications, namely P0 (control), P1 (+ vitamin E 1 mg/ml) and P2 (+ vitamin E 3 mg/ml). Parameters measured were macroscopically (motility, viability and abnormality) at the time of pre-freezing. The results of this study showed a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the motility and viability of spermatozoa in the pre-freezing phase and showed no significant effect (P>0.05) on the abnormality of spermatozoa in the pre-freezing.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of adding papaya leaf meal (Carica papaya L) to quail feed on consumption and feed conversion as an alternative feed using a completely randomized design (CRD) method with four treatments and three replications. P0: No control treatment 0%. P1: Papaya leaf flour (Carica papaya L) 1% of the amount of feed. P2: Papaya leaf flour (Carica papaya L) 3% of the total feed. P3: Papaya leaf flour (Carica papaya L) 5% of the total feed. The results showed that the addition of leaf flour at different levels had no significant effect (P>0.05) on consumption and feed conversion. Average feed consumption P0 (24.25%), P1 (24.13%), P2 (24.45%), P3 (24.26%), Feed Conversion P0 (2.86%), P1 (2 ,73%) P2 (2.39%) and P3 (2.14%). The best treatment is in the P3 treatment with the addition of 5% papaya leaf flour.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving cinnamon flour in the ration to the carcass percentage and carcass weight of broiler ducks. This research was conducted in September-October 2021, Maritengae sub-district, Sidrap Regency. The design model used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications so that there were 12 units of observation and where each unit consisted of 5 birds so that a total of 60 observations were made. The feed was arranged according to the nutritional needs of the ducks. The treatments were: P0: No control treatment 0%, P1: Cinnamon bark flour 1% of the total feed, P2: Cinnamon bark flour 3% of the total feed and P3: Cinnamon bark flour 5% of the total feed. The results showed that the addition of Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanii) flour to quail feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on carcass weight, while the addition of Cinnamomum (Cinnamomum burmanii) flour to quail feed had no significant effect (P>0.05). to the carcass percentage.
