Abstract

Mosques play a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of Muslim communities, particularly through effective fundraising management. Mosque fundraising is not only a tool for collecting donations but also a means to achieve economic empowerment and financial sustainability for religious and social programs. This study analyzes mosque fundraising strategies in Surabaya, focusing on community-based, partnership-based, digital, and institutional models. It examines how Masjid Rahmat Kembang Kuning, Masjid Cheng Hoo, and Masjid Al Falah implement diverse donation management approaches, ensure financial transparency, and build trust among congregants. Utilizing a qualitative methodology with a Grounded Theory approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis involving mosque administrators, donors, and active congregants. Findings reveal that community- based fundraising initiatives like the Warung Dzuhur program and Haul Mbah Karimah effectively foster congregational engagement through collective participation. Partnership-based fundraising, exemplified by Masjid Cheng Hoo, secures financial stability via corporate sponsorships and foundation collaborations. Digital fundraising expands donation channels through QRIS, social media, and online payment systems, enhancing transparency and donor confidence. The study concludes that innovative and participatory fundraising strategies grounded in Islamic management principles strengthen mosque financial sustainability, enhance congregational trust, and empower mosques as independent and socially impactful institutions. The findings offer a strategic framework for mosques to optimize fundraising while maintaining Sharia-compliant financial governance and promoting community empowerment.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of cooperative performance measurement using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework, with a specific focus on the influence of the Sharia-based profit-sharing system and the moderating role of organizational commitment. Drawing on a sample of 33 Sharia-based cooperatives in Lhokseumawe, the study employs multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to test the proposed model. The findings reveal a significant positive impact of the Sharia-based profit-sharing system on BSC-based performance (path coefficient = 0.573; p < 0.001), as well as a strong influence of organizational commitment (path coefficient = 0.568; p < 0.001). Notably, the interaction effect between profit-sharing and organizational commitment is also significant (path coefficient = 0.107; p = 0.004), indicating that high organizational commitment enhances the effectiveness of Sharia-compliant systems in driving BSC performance. This research contributes to the limited body of literature that integrates Islamic financial principles with strategic performance frameworks, offering a novel perspective on how religious-based financial systems can be synergized with modern management tools to improve cooperative performance.

Abstract

This research combines case study and literature study approaches to analyse the leadership dynamics and practice of harmony in the K3TA congregation in Kampungdalem Tulungagung. To strengthen the validity of the findings, researchers conducted case studies and source literature studies by comparing field data and literature related to leadership, harmony, and culture. The literature study focused on references on leadership and strategies to preserve traditions in a multicultural society. The results showed that Habib Sholeh Asegaff as chairman of K3TA combines transformational and charismatic leadership styles. This is reflected in his priority towards the sustainability of the organisation, his ability to motivate members through emotional closeness, and his skills in actualising the vision-mission into concrete actions. On the other hand, his efforts to maintain the harmony of the Banjar community are carried out by maintaining the K3TA tradition consistently since ancestral times, without much change, while building an inclusive cross-cultural dialogue.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of spiritual and skills training in volunteer training programs within faith-based organizations in Surabaya. A qualitative approach with a multi-case study design was used to explore the dynamics and context of training in two different faith-based organizations in Surabaya, namely an Islamic and a Christian organization. A total of 22 volunteers (14 from the Islamic organization and 8 from the Christian organization) participated in the study. Data were collected through semi- structured interviews, non-participant observation, and training document analysis. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. The results show that the integration of skills and spiritual training is carried out flexibly, with religious values being incorporated into skills training. On the other hand, skills training focuses on developing the technical and social capacities of the volunteers, while spiritual training emphasizes strengthening the intention and sincerity in their actions. The findings reveal that these two types of training complement each other and play a crucial role in shaping volunteers who are not only technically competent but also possess spiritual integrity. This holistic approach strengthens the loyalty and long-term commitment of volunteers, while also having a positive impact on their personal lives.

Abstract

This research explains the shift of Sufism da'wah in Indonesia with the phenomenon of mafia sholawat in the current era. This research analyzes the shift in Sufism da'wah in Indonesia with the emergence of the mafia sholawat phenomenon, the factors that influence it, and its impact on Muslim society in Indonesia. The author uses a qualitative method with a netnography approach and literature review. By observing videos on social media and also articles related to the shift in Sufism da'wah and mafia sholawat. The results of this study show that the sholawat mafia packages Sufism da'wah with a different approach. This approach attracts young people and marginalized groups such as street children and punk communities to engage in religious activities. The findings reveal a polarized community response split into two groups. Some support it as an innovative da'wah strategy and a strategy that is easily accepted by the younger generation, while others criticize it as an activity that violates adab and can damage the image of Islam itself

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of a company in facilitating a diaspora mosque by focusing on the case of Masjid Nusantara Akihabara in Japan. Employing a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design, data were collected through in- depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The study identifies four key roles of the company: (1) providing free worship space without business interference, (2) engaging company staff as mosque managers, (3) maintaining a transparent and separate financial system for the mosque, and (4) preserving symbolic boundaries between religious and corporate functions. These findings reflect forms of institutional work carried out informally and collectively by internal actors. The study contributes to stakeholder theory by emphasizing value-driven engagement beyond market relations and enriches institutional logic literature through empirical insights into how religious institutions can emerge and sustain themselves within diaspora business environments

Abstract

Mosques have an important role in meeting the needs of travelers, especially in the midst of increasing community mobility. Masjid Raya Al-Falah Sragen is a strategic example as a traveler-friendly religious stopover. This study aims to examine the role of the mosque in serving travelers and its facility management model. The method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results showed that Masjid Raya Al-Falah Sragen, under the management of Ust. Kunadi Ikhwani, provides professional services with a SMART goals-based approach. Management is carried out through digitalization, the formation of the Mosque Executive Board (BEM), and youth regeneration. Available facilities include luggage storage, rest rooms, clean toilets, and cashless technology. This mosque management model emphasizes comfort, safety, and inclusiveness with the IHSAN principle. The mosque not only functions as a place of worship, but also as a community center that supports social and religious development.

Abstract

This article aims to describe and analyze the management of Hajj services in Indonesia using a gender approach. This research also aims to identify the existence and adequacy of gender-based Hajj infrastructure in Indonesia. The urgency of this goal is based on: 1. The commitment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to provide gender-based Hajj services. 2. Female Hajj pilgrims constitute the majority of pilgrims in the SISKOHAT data. 3. The issue of Fiqh for women remains an unresolved issue. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through observations at the Central Java Ministry of Religious Affairs office and the Donohudan Hajj Dormitory. Data collection was also conducted through interviews with Haidar, the manager of the Donohudan Hajj Dormitory, and H. Fitiyanto, Head of the Hajj and Umrah Organization Division of the Central Java Ministry of Religious Affairs Regional Office. Interviews were also conducted with female Hajj pilgrims who were going on Hajj in 2025 and did not have a companion or mahram, Mrs. Rohmatun from Semarang Regency. The perspectives used are Total Quality Management (TQM) and Gender Analysis Pathway (GAP). The results show that the service and infrastructure management provided by Indonesian Hajj organizers exhibits a gender-neutral status rather than a gender-responsive one. This can be seen from the number of mentors that still does not meet needs, infrastructure that is not yet gender responsive, and regulations that are still general in nature. However, Hajj organizers have demonstrated a commitment to providing gender-responsive services and infrastructure. This commitment has been demonstrated by year-on-year improvements. This article can add to the theory of gender-based services in the organization of the Hajj pilgrimage. It also contributes to organizers' efforts to improve the quality of services and infrastructure.

Abstract

This study discusses the reputation risk management of the Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School regarding the news of the collapse of the prayer room building (case study of the Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Buduran, Sidoarjo). This study aims to analyze and identify aspects of reputational risk that arise due to the incident, strategies that can be carried out to improve public perception and restore public trust. This study uses a qualitative method, using a case study approach involving interviews with victims of the collapse, guardians of students, the surrounding community and evacuation officers, with reference to the ISO 31000 guidelines as a guide in the risk assessment and management process. The results of discussion indicate that reputation can be negatively impacted when negative information spreads faster than official clarification, especially through digital media. To reduce and anticipate bad reputation, institutions must provide a quick response, transparency and empathetic public communication.
