Abstract

This study aims to determine the number and analyze the influence 1) the principal's managerial ability on the performance of state vocational high school teachers in Doloksanggul District; 2) the teacher work culture on the performance of state vocational high school teachers in Doloksanggul District; and 3) the principal's managerial ability and teacher work culture on the performance of state vocational high school teachers in Doloksanggul District. This study used a quantitative method with an ex post facto or survey type. The population was all 158 teachers in state vocational high schools in Doloksanggul District. Using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, a sample of 115 teachers was taken. Data were collected using a closed questionnaire consisting of 25 statement items for variable X1 (Principal's Managerial Ability) and 30 statement items for variable X2 (Teacher Work Culture) and 35 statement items to measure variable Y (Teacher Performance), resulting in a total of 90 statement items. Before being used on actual respondents, the instrument was first tested on 30 teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Lintong Nihuta outside the sample. The results of the instrument trial showed that all questionnaire items were valid and reliable. The data analysis technique was carried out using descriptive analysis, variable categorization and parametric statistical analysis with simple and multiple linear regression equation tests, coefficient of determination tests. The results of the data analysis showed that: 1) The Principal's Managerial Ability had a positive and significant effect on Teacher Performance in 2026 of 32.3% and a strong correlation value of 0.568 with the regression equation Y = 69.752 + 0.699X1 and the significant value of the t-test was 0.001 <α = 0.05, and tcount = 7.337> ttable (n-2 = 113) = 1,980. 2) Teacher Work Culture has a positive and significant effect on Teacher Performance in 2026 of 36% and a strong correlation value of 0.601 with the regression equation Y = 73.761 + 0.536X2 and the significant value of the t-test is 0.001 <α = 0.05, and tcount = 7.990> ttable (n-2 = 113) = 1.980 and 3) Principal Managerial Ability and Teacher Work Culture have a positive and significant effect on Teacher Performance together in 2026 of 50% and a strong correlation value of 0.707 with the regression equation Y = 42.330 + 0.493X1 + 0.404X2 and the significant value of the F-test is 0.001 <α = 0.05, and Fcount = 7.337> Ftable (k-1, nk; 2113) = 3.08. Thus, it is concluded that the research hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

Cultural adjustments are essential in the translation process, particularly when translating from Indonesian to English, due to the unique cultural nuances, customs, and expressions inherent in each language. Without careful consideration, these elements can easily be lost in translation. One major challenge is the cultural differences between Indonesian and English. Another challenge is the distinction between formal and informal language usage in both languages. To address these challenges, translators need a profound understanding of both the source and target languages and cultures. They must be well-versed in the cultural norms, customs, and expressions of both languages and adapt them appropriately in their translations. This study examines the translation techniques used to achieve cultural adjustments when translating Indonesian texts into English and how these adjustments are realized by the translator. A qualitative approach is employed, specifically descriptive research, aiming to provide a detailed description of existing translations. The data source for this research is the translation work of an English lecturer at the University Prima Indonesia. The translation techniques identified include adaptation, adoption uptake, common/established equivalence, discursive creation, compensation, and variation. The findings indicate that adoption uptake is the predominant technique used by the translator to achieve cultural adjustments from Indonesian to English.

Abstract

The development of science and technology that is not matched by the facilities, infrastructure and skills of teachers in teaching school mathematics achievement resulted in the fifth grade students from year to year. Although this has been done to improve this problem, it has not been able to overcome it. So do other solutions by using the ADDIE model of media-assisted miniature flat wake. The problem is, is there a difference in learning achievement using the ADDIE model of media-assisted miniature flat wake with school performance using the conventional model? The study design was a pretest-posttest control group design. The instruments used are achievement tests and observation sheets student learning activities. The data analysis technique used in this study was a preliminary analysis using normality test and test for equality of two averages and final analysis using normality test and t-test. The result is that the initial analysis of both normal samples and the average are the same. While the final analysis both normal samples t-test and expressed taccount = 4.036> = 2.025 ttable so no difference in average mathematics achievement who received instruction using the ADDIE model of media-assisted miniature flat wake with the conventional model.

Abstract

Kehidupan modern yang serba cepat sering membuat individu berjalan dalam “mode otomatis” sehingga pikiran dan perasaan batin kurang disadari. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi bagaimana praktik meditasi Samatha Bhāvanā dapat meningkatkan mindfulness dalam kehidupan sehari-hari pada umat Buddha perkotaan di Surabaya serta keterkaitannya dengan nilai budaya lokal. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan 12 praktisi yang telah berlatih Samatha minimal satu tahun. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan catatan harian pribadi, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik dengan dukungan statistik deskriptif sederhana. Analisis menghasilkan lima tema utama: peningkatan konsentrasi, pengendalian emosi yang lebih baik, kesadaran dalam aktivitas harian, reduksi distraksi mental, dan penguatan empati sosial. Secara kuantitatif, latihan rutin berkaitan dengan penurunan mind-wandering dari 42% menjadi 19% serta peningkatan skor mindfulness harian sebesar 29%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Samatha Bhāvanā bukan hanya praktik spiritual, tetapi juga keterampilan hidup yang berakar pada budaya lokal dan relevan untuk membantu individu menghadapi tantangan modern.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji makna simbolik, fungsi sosial, serta konstruksi identitas kolektif yang terdapat dalam tradisi mangulosi pada masyarakat Batak Toba dan tradisi pemberian oles pada masyarakat Pakpak dalam upacara pernikahan adat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di Kecamatan Siempat Nempu Hulu, Kabupaten Dairi, Sumatera Utara, yang merupakan wilayah dengan masyarakat yang didominasi oleh etnis Batak Toba dan Pakpak. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi terhadap tokoh adat, tokoh masyarakat, serta masyarakat setempat yang memahami tradisi tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi mangulosi dan pemberian oles memiliki makna sebagai simbol doa, berkat, kasih, serta penerimaan sosial kepada pasangan pengantin. Selain itu, tradisi tersebut juga berfungsi sebagai sarana memperkuat hubungan kekerabatan dan solidaritas sosial dalam masyarakat. Tradisi ini juga menjadi sarana pembentukan identitas kolektif masyarakat Batak yang memadukan nilai adat, sosial, dan religius dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Mafindo (Masyarakat Anti Fitnah Indonesia) dalam upaya melawan hoaks, disinformasi, dan misinformasi di era post-truth di Indonesia. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis konten, penelitian ini mengkaji 10 konten Instagram Mafindo (@turnbackhoax.id). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Mafindo mengintegrasikan social media Logic (programmability, popularity, connectivity, dan datafication) dengan Literasi Kritis Digital untuk usaha membongkar narasi hoaks, meningkatkan kesadaran publik, dan mempromosikan verifikasi fakta berbasis bukti. Meski telah memenuhi prinsip logika media sosial, posting Mafindo masih mempunyai tingkat keterlibatan yang rendah. Posting kurang menarik perhatian dan interaksi dari pengguna. Tantangan utama dalam melawan disinformasi tidak hanya terletak pada ketersediaan informasi yang benar, tetapi juga pada kemampuan menyajikannya secara menarik dan relevan dalam lanskap media sosial yang sangat kompetitif. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa fakta kebenaran yang di bagikan oleh Mafindo masih kurang dapat bersaing secara efektif untuk memperoleh keterlibatan khalayak di ruang publik digital.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the narrative strategies used by the United States, China, and Germany in addressing the tariff war, focusing on the concepts of political communication, narrative strategy, and soft power. Political communication functions as a tool to shape public perception through the messages conveyed by political actors. Narrative strategy is used to frame the issue of the tariff war according to each country's political interests, while soft power relates to efforts to influence other countries through attraction and legitimacy rather than military power. The study employs a framing analysis method with purposive sampling, analyzing social media posts from four Twitter accounts representing the United States (President, VP), China (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and Germany (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) during the period from April 3 to 10, 2025. The results show that the United States (U.S) frames the tariff war as a response to domestic economic issues, emphasizing economic independence and nationalism. Meanwhile, China frames the U.S. tariff policy as a violation of the multilateral trade system based on rules, focusing on resisting unilateralism. On the other hand, Germany emphasizes diplomacy and negotiation as a more rational and balanced solution. These differences in framing reflect the national interests and narrative strategies employed by each country to influence global public opinion through soft power. This study provides insights into how narrative strategies and framing can shape international public perception and influence global trade policies.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Solving model on the learning outcomes of Year 5 pupils at SD Negeri 091567 BAH JAMBI. The study was conducted in Year 5 at SD Negeri 091567 BAH JAMBI with a sample of 20 pupils, comprising 11 girls and 9 boys. Based on the results of the tests and data analysis carried out, calculations using the t-test yielded a t-value of 24.508, which was then compared with the critical t-value of 1.725, with df=39 and a significance level of 0.05. The difference is considered significant if ????ℎi???????????????? > ????????????????????????. If ????ℎi???????????????? > ????????????????????????, then ???????? is rejected and ???????? is accepted, and if ????ℎi???????????????? < ???????????????????????? then ???????? is accepted and ???????? is rejected. Based on the data obtained from the pre-test, the pupils achieved an average score of 56.20, which did not meet the minimum passing mark of 70; however, after being taught using the Problem Solving model, they achieved a post-test score of 85.60. This indicates that the Problem Solving model has an impact on the learning outcomes of Year 5 pupils at State Primary School 091567 BAH JAMBI.
