Abstract

Attitude measurement has been widely examined in social and educational studies; however, the challenges of transforming subjective viewpoints into objective numerical data and determining appropriate measurement tools still require in-depth methodological scrutiny. This study aims to examine various types of attitude scales and underscore the urgency of validity and reliability testing in the design of research instruments. The research employed a qualitative method based on library research, collecting data from secondary sources in the form of books and scholarly journals through systematic literature searches, which were subsequently analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings identify four main categories of scales for measuring affective aspects, namely the Likert scale, Guttman scale, semantic differential, and Thurstone scale, each of which has distinct characteristics in producing nominal, ordinal, and interval-level data and in detecting the intensity of respondents’ attitudes. These findings enrich the research methodology literature by clarifying the function and position of each scale in the selection of instruments aligned with research purposes and design. It is concluded that the accuracy of attitude measurement is strongly influenced by the appropriateness of scale selection in relation to the characteristics of the construct and data, as well as the rigor of validity and reliability testing; therefore, researchers are recommended to select scales according to the desired level of precision and to consider the use of advanced analytical models such as the Rasch model for item calibration purposes.

Abstract

The issues of religious intolerance and exclusivism pose serious challenges in educational contexts, including in Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), thereby necessitating policies capable of systematically internalizing the values of religious moderation in students. This study aimed to analyze the process of internalizing religious moderation values through Islamic Religious Education policy and to examine its implications for character formation and social harmony. A qualitative approach was employed using a library research method through the analysis of policy documents, scholarly articles, and relevant legislation. The findings show that PAI policy emphasizes the integration of religious moderation values, such as tolerance, balance, inclusivity, and respect for diversity through curriculum development, learning strategies, and assessment systems oriented toward strengthening moderate attitudes. The internalization process is reinforced through contextual learning, the exemplary conduct of educators, and the integration of national and religious values within intracurricular and co-curricular activities. The study concludes that comprehensively designed Islamic Religious Education policies make a significant contribution to shaping moderate religious attitudes among students and to fostering social harmony in multicultural societies. The implications of this research underscore the importance of adaptive and sustainable education policies to strengthen religious moderation as a foundation for peaceful and inclusive communal life.

Abstract

The Tahta Keliling Program initiated by the Proklamator Bung Hatta Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) is a strategic effort to expand the reach of information services and enhance public access to reading materials, particularly for schools and communities located far from the main library. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Tahta Keliling Program in increasing library user visits by assessing program planning, implementation mechanisms, collection selection, operational constraints, and the impact of services on the intensity of visits to the library. A qualitative approach was employed using in-depth interviews with one program coordinator and four implementation staff members, supported by observation and activity documentation. The findings show that the Tahta Keliling Program has been planned and implemented systematically through route determination, collection selection, and flexible scheduling according to the needs of each location. The main challenges encountered include weather conditions, limited human resources, and supporting facilities; however, these were addressed through effective coordination, schedule adjustment, and proportional task distribution. Overall, the program has had a positive impact on increasing community interaction with the library and encouraging higher visit rates to the main library. This study concludes that the Tahta Keliling Program is effective in expanding access to literacy and increasing community participation in library services, and it holds potential as a reference model for developing sustainable mobile library services.

Abstract

The Program Buku Bicara (BUBI) is a creative literacy service innovation by the Agen Perubahan (AP) 2025 of the Proklamator Bung Hatta Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), developed to enhance early childhood literacy through interactive storytelling activities in the library setting. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the BUBI Program, the role of librarians, children’s responses, and the benefits and challenges that emerged during its implementation. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation conducted during the internship (PKL) period, particularly from September to November 2025. The findings show that the BUBI Program was implemented in a structured manner and succeeded in capturing children’s attention through question-and-answer sessions and story-based interactions, thereby contributing to improved comprehension of story content, vocabulary development, and strengthened children’s confidence in communication. The main challenges encountered were related to declining child focus over certain activity durations and the limited availability of supporting media. This study concludes that the BUBI Program is effective as a creative literacy strategy in the library, with implications for the need to strengthen supporting facilities and provide storytelling training for librarians in order to further optimize the quality of children’s literacy services.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the types of damage and evaluate conservation practices applied to the rare book Menudju Kemerdekaan/Towards Independence, held in the collection of the Proklamator Bung Hatta Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), and to formulate appropriate conservation recommendations. As an important documentary source on the history of Indonesia’s struggle for independence, the book is highly vulnerable to material degradation due to age and environmental conditions. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach through direct observation of the book’s physical condition and in-depth interviews with the UPT conservator. The findings show that the book has suffered physical damage (loose binding, tears, and paper fragility), chemical damage (paper yellowing due to acidification), and biological damage (fungal attack). The curative conservation practices implemented by the UPT are considered fairly optimal and include mending with Japanese tissue, sterilization using 70% alcohol, and the application of collection preservation guidelines. However, conservation efforts are still constrained by limited facilities and infrastructure, particularly in environmental control, as temperature and humidity remain unstable due to insufficient air-conditioning coverage. Conservation recommendations include additional curative measures in the form of deacidification to address chemical deterioration, as well as binding repair using the portaple or book file method that does not alter the book’s original form. Preventively, the UPT needs to improve environmental control by adding dehumidifiers to slow down the rate of material degradation. This study underscores the urgency of early intervention in the preservation of written cultural heritage, in line with the principles emphasized by Shabrina and Yusniah (2025), to ensure the continuity of the nation’s intellectual legacy.

Abstract

Low levels of student discipline at the senior high school level, as reflected in violations of school rules, weak learning commitment, and poor self-control, remain a serious challenge in the field of education. This study aimed to analyze strategies for cultivating disciplinary character among senior high school students through systematically implemented educational approaches within the school environment. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study design was employed, using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving the principal, teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, and students. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, strengthened by source and technique triangulation to ensure data trustworthiness. The findings show that disciplinary character is nurtured through educators’ role modeling, consistent enforcement of school rules, integration of discipline values into the learning process, habituation programs, and collaboration between the school and parents. These strategies lead to improvements in punctuality, sense of responsibility, compliance with school regulations, and student independence. The study concludes that comprehensive, continuous, and value-based character-building strategies play an essential role in strengthening disciplinary character among senior high school students, with implications for the need for institutional commitment and a collaborative educational environment to support ongoing character development.

Abstract

Educational supervision is a strategic component of educational management that plays a crucial role in improving the quality of instruction and teacher professionalism; however, in practice it is often reduced to administrative and technical activities, thereby neglecting the moral and spiritual dimensions of teachers. This study aimed to examine the concept of supervision from an Islamic perspective and to analyze its implications for the development of contemporary Islamic education. A qualitative approach was employed using a library research method, with data sources consisting of scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant literature discussing educational supervision and Islamic values. The data were analyzed using content analysis to explore the concepts, principles, objectives, and practices of Islamic educational supervision derived from the Al-Qur’an, Hadith, and the history of Islamic education. The findings show that supervision from an Islamic perspective is not only oriented toward enhancing academic performance but also emphasizes the cultivation of akhlaq, responsibility, and the spiritual awareness of educators. Islamic educational supervision is grounded in the principles of trustworthiness (amanah), justice, consultation (musyawarah), and role modeling, and is implemented through a humanistic and participatory approach. This study concludes that integrating Islamic values into supervisory practice has the potential to improve the quality of learning while simultaneously strengthening the sustainable formation of teachers’ religious character within the context of contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

Multicultural society is a social reality characterized by cultural, ethnic, religious, and social value diversity, which has the potential to become both a source of strength and a source of conflict if not properly managed. In this context, prosocial behavior plays an important role in building harmonious social relations and strengthening social cohesion between groups. This study aimed to examine prosocial behavior in multicultural society from a social psychology perspective using a literature review approach. A qualitative method was employed by analyzing and synthesizing various national and international scholarly articles relevant to prosocial behavior, empathy, social identity, social norms, cultural values, and intergroup contact. The findings show that prosocial behavior in multicultural societies is influenced by the complex interaction of empathy, social identity, social norms, cultural values, and the intensity of intergroup contact. Empathy functions as a primary psychological mechanism that motivates individuals to help and cooperate across group boundaries, while inclusive social identity expands prosocial behavior from the in-group to the out-group. In addition, positive intergroup contact and multicultural norms that support tolerance and social justice have been shown to reduce prejudice and increase prosocial behavior. This review emphasizes that strengthening empathy, inclusive values, and multicultural education constitutes a key strategy for building harmony and social cohesion amid societal diversity.

Abstract

School rules constitute a set of regulations designed to guide student behavior and create an orderly, safe, and conducive learning environment, thereby playing a strategic role in shaping students’ disciplinary character. This study aimed to describe the implementation of school rules and analyze their contribution to the formation of students’ disciplinary character at MTs Sholihiyyah Kalitengah Mranggen Demak. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, drawing on sources including the principal, teachers, students, and school records. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the implementation of school rules is carried out through socialization, habituation, supervision, and the application of reward-and-sanction systems, all of which demonstrably contribute to the development of students’ disciplinary character. This contribution is evident in improved punctuality, compliance with dress codes, orderliness during learning activities, and respectful attitudes toward teachers. The main supporting factors include teachers’ role modeling, parental involvement, and a positive school environment, while inhibiting factors comprise low awareness among some students, inconsistencies in rule enforcement, and negative influences from outside the school environment. The study concludes that school rules implemented consistently and supported by exemplary conduct and school–parent collaboration play an important role in strengthening students’ disciplinary character at madrasah tsanawiyah and can serve as a basis for developing more systematic character education policies.

Abstract

Improving service quality is an urgent necessity for libraries as public service institutions, particularly in the digital era. One of the innovations developed to address this need is the One-Stop Service model, which integrates various types of services into a single service channel. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the One-Stop Service in improving service quality at the Proklamator Bung Hatta Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) in Bukittinggi and to identify its impacts and the obstacles encountered in its implementation. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method was employed through in-depth interviews and observations involving five purposively selected informants, namely librarians and staff directly involved in service provision. The findings show that the implementation of a WhatsApp-based One-Stop Service has accelerated service processes, facilitated user access, improved the quality of interaction between librarians and visitors, and reduced delays in the return of library materials. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limitations of application features, the potential for misunderstandings in communication, and the influx of messages outside working hours. The study concludes that the One-Stop Service is effective in enhancing library service quality and constitutes a relevant innovation to support more responsive, user-oriented library services.
