Abstract

Education is a fundamental foundation for shaping human character and patterns of thought, thereby requiring learning approaches that not only transmit knowledge but also encourage students to actively construct their own understanding. One relevant approach is constructivist theory, which emphasizes that knowledge is constructed through direct experience and social interaction. This study aimed to understand the application of constructivist theory in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at Al-Barokah Gondanglegi. A descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design was employed, enabling the researcher to observe learning dynamics in a natural setting, including patterns of interaction between teachers and students. The findings show that the application of constructivist theory in PAI learning encourages students to connect new knowledge with prior experiences, making learning more meaningful while simultaneously stimulating critical thinking skills, creativity, and active participation in the learning process. The study affirms that constructivist theory plays an important role as a pedagogical foundation in PAI learning, with implications for strengthening teachers’ competence in designing contextual and learner-centred learning experiences.

Abstract

The use of the social media platform TikTok is increasingly widespread among children and has become one of the digital platforms that significantly influence their behavior and character development. This article aims to analyze the negative impact of TikTok on children’s character through library research, highlighting the limited number of studies that specifically link TikTok use with children’s character formation. Data were obtained from books, scholarly journals, and research findings related to social media and child development, and were analyzed using a qualitative critical analysis technique. The findings show that TikTok has a significant impact on children’s moral, behavioral, social, and emotional aspects; exposure to age-inappropriate content contributes to decreased politeness, the emergence of negative imitative behaviors, concentration disturbances, and a tendency to seek social validation. In addition, intensive use of TikTok weakens children’s ability to interact in real-life social settings and reduces their emotional stability. This article concludes that guidance, digital supervision, and strengthened character education are necessary so that children can respond to the influence of social media critically and responsibly, while also underscoring the urgency of character education in the digital era as an integral part of parenting and child education.

Abstract

Strengthening character values is one of the main objectives of national education that must be systematically internalized through the learning process, in which Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in shaping students’ religious and social character. This study aimed to describe and analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality PAI learning in strengthening students’ character values at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, using in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation studies as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed using the interactive Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that character strengthening is consistently integrated into lesson planning, into the implementation of learning that emphasizes role modeling and habituation of values, and into evaluation that covers cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. Quality PAI learning that is carefully designed and implemented is shown to contribute positively to the formation of students’ religious character, discipline, responsibility, and social concern.

Abstract

The development of Al-Qur’an learning in Islamic primary education institutions requires a solid epistemological foundation so that the transmission of knowledge is not merely technical but also aligned with the aims of Islamic education. This study aimed to analyze the sources and methods of Al-Qur’an knowledge applied in the learning process at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah Program Khusus (MI PK) Ponpes Imam Bukhari Surakarta from the perspective of the epistemology of the philosophy of Islamic education. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with three teachers, classroom observations, and curriculum documentation review. The findings show that Al-Qur’an learning at MI PK fundamentally positions revelation (Al-Qur’an and Sunnah) as the primary source of knowledge, with a dominance of the bayani (textual) method implemented through the talaqqi and tahfizh system as a form of commitment to the transmission of authoritative and authentic knowledge. The study concludes that the epistemology of Al-Qur’an learning at MI PK Ponpes Imam Bukhari is characterized by a tauhidi epistemology that prioritizes the authority of the sacred text and the teacher’s sanad, while reason and the senses function as auxiliary instruments in understanding and internalizing the teachings of the Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has increased gadget use among young children and raised concerns about its impact on cognitive development during a crucial phase of brain growth that requires appropriate stimulation to support thinking, memory, and problem-solving abilities. This paper aims to analyze the impact of excessive gadget use on the cognitive development of early childhood, identify factors that trigger high gadget use, and describe preventive efforts that can be undertaken. The method used was a literature study by reviewing various books, scholarly articles, research findings, and policy documents relevant to gadget use and early childhood development. The findings show that excessive and unsupervised gadget use can reduce children’s concentration, memory capacity, language development, and critical thinking skills; conversely, controlled gadget use with educational content and accompanied by parental guidance has the potential to provide benefits as a means of cognitive stimulation. The main factors driving excessive gadget use include uncontrolled duration of use, age-inappropriate content, and lack of parental supervision. The implications of this study underscore the importance of the role of parents and educators in regulating patterns and duration of gadget use so that the cognitive development of young children proceeds optimally, in a balanced manner, and in line with educational goals.

Abstract

Teacher administration is a key component of learning management that plays a strategic role in supporting the effectiveness of teaching and learning activities, particularly in the context of Islamic education that is oriented toward the formation of noble character. This article aims to examine the role of teacher administration and its relevance to the implementation of teaching and learning activities as well as the integration of Islamic values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction. The study employed a qualitative approach with a library research method by reviewing books, legislation, and relevant scholarly journal articles, with data analyzed descriptively and analytically to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and practices of teacher administration in learning. The findings show that teacher administration encompasses the administration of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, which are interrelated and inseparable; orderly and systematic administration management helps enhance teaching readiness, teacher professionalism, the quality of the learning process, and student learning outcomes. In Islamic education, teacher administration functions not only as an instrument of academic management but also as an important means for internalizing Islamic values and forming students’ religious character through planning, implementation, and evaluation processes grounded in those values. Therefore, strengthening teacher administrative competencies needs to be carried out continuously through coaching, training, and supervision so that instruction, particularly PAI, can take place effectively, meaningfully, and with a clear orientation toward the formation of noble character.

Abstract

Arabic language learning at madrasah tsanawiyah continues to face obstacles in developing students’ speaking skills (maharah kalam), particularly with regard to fluency, pronunciation accuracy, and willingness to speak, which are partly caused by grammar-oriented teaching and limited oral communication practice. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the muhadatsah method in improving maharah kalam among students at the madrasah tsanawiyah level. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design and was conducted at MTs Al-Irsyad Tengaran. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with Arabic language teachers and students, and documentation, and were analyzed using an interactive analysis model comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the implementation of the muhadatsah method improved students’ participation, speaking fluency, pronunciation accuracy, and self-confidence in communicating in Arabic. The study concludes that the muhadatsah method is an effective communicative learning approach for enhancing students’ maharah kalam and is relevant for application in Arabic language learning at madrasah tsanawiyah, thus serving as a pedagogical strategy to continuously strengthen students’ speaking competence.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed family education patterns, particularly in the provision of Islamic religious education for Generation Z, who are growing up as digital natives, such that intensive exposure to digital media presents both opportunities and challenges for parents in shaping their children’s religious character. This article aimed to analyze the role of digital technology in parents’ strategies for instilling Islamic religious education in Generation Z through a literature-based study. The research employed a qualitative approach with a library research method, drawing on data sources that included scholarly books, reputable national and international journal articles, and relevant research reports. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis, while data validity was maintained through source and theoretical triangulation. The findings indicate that digital technology plays a strategic role in family-based Islamic religious education when it is used in a purposeful and well-supervised manner, with identified parental strategy models including role modelling in digital media use, supervision and guidance, dialogical-educative approaches, and integrative strategies that combine conventional Islamic educational practices with the use of digital media. The main challenges arise from parents’ limited digital literacy and children’s exposure to digital content that conflicts with Islamic values, whereas the opportunities lie in broad access to innovative and contextually relevant Islamic digital resources. This study concludes that the effectiveness of Islamic religious education for Generation Z in the digital era largely depends on parents’ ability to mediate technology use in an educational and value-oriented way, so that technology serves not only as a means of entertainment but also as a vehicle for strengthening faith and shaping children’s religious character.

Abstract

Pesantren are the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and, in their development, have been shaped by educational dynamics and societal needs, leading many pesantren to provide formal school education and various other activities to enhance the community’s economic potential with the pesantren as the central hub. The operation of pesantren is consistently grounded in an educational philosophy that serves as the basis for formulating educational goals, curricula, and educational practices. This study aimed to describe the educational philosophy at Pondok Pesantren Imam Bukhari Karanganyar. The research employed a field study model at a pesantren khalaf using a qualitative approach, in which data were obtained through interviews, direct observations at Pondok Pesantren Imam Bukhari Karanganyar, and document study. The collected data were then processed and qualitatively analyzed to uncover the philosophical dimensions that underlie educational practices at the pesantren. The findings show that there is an ontological foundation of educational philosophy at Pondok Pesantren Imam Bukhari Karanganyar that underpins the organization of educational processes and the development of the pesantren’s role within the wider community. These findings affirm the importance of Islamic educational philosophy studies as a normative and conceptual reference for the management of pesantren in an era of dynamic social change.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the learning strategies for tahfidz Al-Qur’an at the boarding school MI Miftahut Thulab, as well as the factors that support and hinder the improvement of students’ memorization quality. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the tahfidz learning strategy is implemented through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning stage includes setting memorization targets adjusted to students’ educational level and initial ability, preparing daily schedules, selecting the methods talaqqi, tikrar, and muroja’ah, and determining memorization quality standards. The implementation stage is supported by a conducive boarding school environment that enables students to internalize routines of worship and tahfidz consistently. The evaluation stage is conducted in a tiered manner to monitor the fluency, accuracy, and consistency of memorization. The study also found supporting factors, including a conducive learning environment, the competence of teachers and musyrif, structured planning, as well as students’ motivation and parental support, all of which play an important role in improving memorization quality. Inhibiting factors include differences in students’ initial abilities, limited time, fatigue or boredom, and inadequate supporting facilities. In conclusion, the success of tahfidz Al-Qur’an learning is highly dependent on the integration between systematic instructional strategies and the management of supporting and inhibiting factors, enabling students to achieve their memorization targets effectively, consistently, and sustainably.
