Abstract

Islamic education aims to develop the full range of human potential holistically in order to form insān kāmil, characterized by faith, knowledge, and noble character; however, educational practice in the field still tends to emphasize intellectual intelligence as the primary indicator of learning success and therefore has not fully accommodated the diversity of students’ potentials. This article aimed to analyze the concept of multiple intelligences from the perspective of Islamic educational psychology through a library research approach. Data were drawn from relevant primary and secondary literature and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the concept of multiple intelligences is conceptually aligned with the Islamic view of fitrah as multidimensional human nature. Integrating multiple intelligences into Islamic educational psychology contributes to strengthening a holistic and humanistic educational paradigm oriented toward developing students’ intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual potentials. This article is expected to serve as a conceptual reference for advancing the theory and practice of Islamic Religious Education that is more oriented toward the holistic humanization of learners.

Abstract

Discipline is an essential prerequisite for the success of students who memorize the Qur’an, and the pesantren environment plays a strategic role in supporting this process. This study aimed to examine the role of the pesantren environment in shaping the discipline of Qur’an-memorizing students at MTs Tahfizh Nurul Iman Karanganyar by conceptualizing the pesantren environment as an integrated educational system encompassing the social environment, the physical environment (facilities and infrastructure), and the pesantren’s academic culture. The study adopted a qualitative approach with a field research design, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the pesantren social environment played an important role in shaping student discipline through educators’ role modelling, musyrif supervision, and peer interactions among students that created social control and habituation of disciplined behavior. The pesantren physical environment contributed to structuring students’ activities through spatial organization, the availability of tahfizh facilities, and a structured activity schedule. The pesantren’s academic culture strengthened the internalization of disciplinary values through scheduled learning traditions, a system of memorization targets and evaluation, and the integration of spiritual values into academic activities. These three dimensions of the pesantren environment interacted with one another and continuously shaped the discipline of Qur’an-memorizing students in time management, learning, worship, and social behavior. This study affirms that the pesantren environment functions as a determinant factor in developing the disciplined character of tahfizh students based on Islamic educational values.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the need for innovative learning models and strengthened learning motivation to improve learning outcomes in Islamic Cultural History (SKI), while teacher-centered instructional practices still limit students’ active engagement and the deep internalization of Islamic historical values. This study aimed to theoretically analyze the roles of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model and learning motivation in improving SKI learning outcomes. The study employed a library research method by reviewing diverse literature sources, including books, scholarly journal articles, and relevant research findings on Project Based Learning, learning motivation, and learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach through critical review, comparison, and synthesis of experts’ perspectives and prior research findings. The review indicated that, in theory, Project Based Learning promoted active learning, the development of critical thinking, and contextual understanding of SKI content, whereas learning motivation functioned as an internal driver that strengthened students’ engagement and persistence in the learning process, thereby exerting a positive influence on learning outcomes. Conceptually, integrating PjBL and learning motivation had a positive influence on improving students’ learning outcomes across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains in SKI learning. This study contributed to strengthening the concept of innovative learning in Islamic education and provided practical implications for teachers in designing SKI instruction that is more meaningful, participatory, and motivating for students.

Abstract

Fiqh instruction in madrasahs plays a strategic role in shaping students’ understanding of Islamic law as applied in everyday life; however, classroom practice still faces challenges, including low student participation and underdeveloped critical thinking skills due to the dominance of conventional instructional models. This article aimed to theoretically examine the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and critical thinking skills on students’ learning outcomes in Fiqh. The study employed a qualitative approach with a library research design, drawing data from a review of books, scholarly journals, and previous studies relevant to PBL, critical thinking, and learning outcomes. The review indicates that PBL can create student-centered learning, promote active engagement, and develop critical thinking through contextual problem solving. Critical thinking functions as an internal factor that strengthens students’ understanding of Fiqh material, particularly in analyzing Islamic legal issues and differences of scholarly opinion. Theoretically, the synergy between implementing PBL and strengthening critical thinking skills contributes positively to improving students’ learning outcomes in Fiqh and provides a conceptual basis for transforming instruction in madrasahs toward more active and reflective learning. Accordingly, this review offers an important theoretical foundation for subsequent empirical research on Fiqh learning and the development of problem-based instructional models in Islamic education.

Abstract

Tahfizh Al-Qur’an programs in madrasah ibtidaiyah require the application of appropriate methods to ensure that students’ memorization targets are achieved optimally. This study aimed to describe the implementation of tahfizh Al-Qur’an methods and the attainment of students’ memorization targets in the tahfizh program class at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Terpadu Tahfizhul Qur’an Al-Ma’shum Surakarta. The study employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the tahfizh methods implemented included talaqqi, tikrār, ziyādah, murāja‘ah, and tasmi‘, which were carried out in a structured and integrated manner and thus played an important role in shaping students’ recitation accuracy, fluency, and memorization stability. The attainment of memorization targets was influenced by internal factors, such as students’ motivation, discipline, and cognitive abilities, as well as external factors, including teacher competence, a conducive learning environment, and parental support. Accordingly, the success of a tahfizh program requires synergy between the use of appropriate instructional methods, optimal teacher roles, and sustained collaboration between schools and families in supporting the Qur’an memorization process.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level plays a strategic role in shaping students’ religious character and noble morals, and its success is determined not only by mastery of religious content but also strongly influenced by the classroom climate created throughout the learning process. This study aimed to describe the classroom climate conditions in PAI learning, the teachers’ efforts and strategies in developing a positive classroom climate, and the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting the formation of a positive classroom climate in PAI learning at MI Ahmad Maryam Surakarta. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving PAI teachers and students as participants; data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the classroom climate in PAI learning tended to be conducive and religious, as reflected in humanistic interactions between teachers and students, a comfortable learning atmosphere, and the cultivation of religious values through role modelling and habituation. Teachers’ efforts and strategies to build a positive classroom climate were realized through classroom management grounded in Islamic values, the use of varied and participatory teaching methods, and the implementation of positive discipline. Supporting factors included teachers’ competence and personality, support from the madrasah environment, and parental involvement, while inhibiting factors comprised differences in students’ characteristics, limited facilities and infrastructure, and the influence of the social environment outside the madrasah. This study concludes that developing a positive classroom climate is an ongoing process that requires synergy among teachers, the madrasah, and families to improve the quality of PAI learning and strengthen students’ religious character formation.

Abstract

Learning in Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI) at the primary school level remains largely oriented toward memorization and superficial understanding, and therefore does not yet fully support meaningful learning as required by Kurikulum Merdeka. This study aimed to develop a PAI teaching module based on a deep learning approach for the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka at Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SDIT) Luqman Al Hakim Surakarta. The study employed a research and development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which comprises the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through document analysis, interviews, questionnaires, and observations. The findings showed that the developed deep learning–based PAI teaching module was judged valid by content and design experts, was practically applicable for teachers, and was found to be effective, on a limited scale, in enhancing students’ engagement and understanding. Accordingly, this teaching module is feasible for use as a PAI learning resource within the framework of Kurikulum Merdeka in primary schools.

Abstract

Overburden stripping production at PT Paramitha Persada Tama, a nickel mining company in North Konawe Regency, particularly in Pit Block C and A1B, has not reached the target of 90,000 Bcm/month, as actual production using the existing excavation–loading configuration (Excavator JCB 205, Excavator JCB 305, Excavator Sumitomo 210) and hauling equipment (Hino 500 dump trucks) was only 62,712.4 Bcm/month in September 2021. This study aimed to analyze efforts to achieve the production target by changing the overburden stripping system from sidecast to a hauling system. A comparative approach was used by examining production performance, fuel consumption, and stripping costs between the sidecast system in September 2021 and the hauling system in November 2021. Cost evaluation was conducted by calculating operator salaries and fuel consumption expenditures based on a fuel price of Rp 7,850.00/liter. The analysis showed that under the sidecast system, fuel consumption reached 51,650 liters/month with a fuel ratio of 0.8 and total expenditure of Rp 513,301,500.00, whereas the implementation of the hauling system resulted in an actual production of 97,947.41 Bcm/month with fuel consumption of 47,782 liters/month, yielding a saving of 3,868 liters/month while simultaneously achieving the production target. These findings confirm that the hauling system is more effective and efficient than the sidecast system for overburden stripping at the study site and is feasible to adopt as an operational strategy to optimize production.

Abstract

Students’ learning problems are a complex phenomenon encompassing cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions, whereas conventional educational psychology approaches tend to emphasize cognitive and behavioral aspects, resulting in suboptimal integration of value-based and spiritual dimensions. This article aims to analyze the role of the Islamic Educational Psychology approach in addressing students’ learning problems through the integration of psychological, pedagogical, and Islamic value dimensions. The study employed a qualitative method with a systematic literature review approach of primary sources, including reputable journal articles, academic books, and scholarly works relevant to Islamic Educational Psychology. Data analysis techniques involved data reduction, thematic categorization, and conceptual synthesis. The findings indicate that the Islamic Educational Psychology approach can provide comprehensive solutions to students’ learning problems by strengthening intrinsic motivation, developing spiritual intelligence, cultivating moral character, and fostering humanistic educational relationships between educators and students. The study concludes that the Islamic Educational Psychology approach makes a significant contribution to creating a holistic and meaningful learning process, with implications for the importance of integrating Islamic Educational Psychology into instructional practices and educational policies to sustainably improve students’ learning quality.

Abstract

The planting program for Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA; family medicinal plants) and ornamental flowers was a collaborative initiative between students of the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Asoka Groups 1–4 and the community of Jorong Koto Panjang, aimed at improving environmental quality while fostering awareness of nature conservation based on citizen participation. This community service activity was implemented through TOGA planting every Saturday morning in Taman Asoka and ornamental flower planting in the afternoon at various strategic locations in the surrounding area. The results of the program’s implementation showed a significant increase in community participation, improvements in environmental aesthetics, and the development of collective awareness regarding the importance of sustainable environmental conservation. The program successfully created a positive synergy between students and the local community in realizing a healthy and green environment, while also providing a replicable model for environment-based community service programs in other regions.
