Abstract

Although the philosophy of Islamic education has received considerable scholarly attention, studies that specifically examine the application of Islamic epistemology in the context of Islamic vocational education remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the application of epistemology within the philosophy of Islamic education at SMK Muhammadiyah 03 Nogosari Boyolali. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving three teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, and subsequently examined using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that the learning process at SMK Muhammadiyah 03 Nogosari Boyolali integrates sources of knowledge derived from revelation, reason, and empirical experience; Islamic Religious Education instruction positions revelation as the primary foundation, whereas general and vocational subjects optimize the role of reason and experience framed by Islamic values. These findings contribute to the development of epistemological theory in Islamic education and broaden understanding of knowledge integration in the context of Islamic vocational education. The study concludes that Islamic epistemology plays a central role in shaping holistic education and recommends that Islamic educational institutions consistently integrate epistemological values throughout the curriculum. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to enriching the literature on the philosophy of Islamic education and practical implications for the development of policies and instructional practices in Islamic vocational schools, while also opening opportunities for further inquiry into ontological and axiological aspects of Islamic education.

Abstract

Modern education today faces serious challenges in the form of a character crisis and moral degradation amid the wave of digitalization, while the exploration of classical thinkers’ ideas as a foundation for strengthening character education has not been optimally utilized. This study aims to explore in depth the concept of Islamic education thought according to Imam Ibnu Jama’ah (1241–1333 AD) and to analyze its relevance to twenty-first-century educational problems. The research method used is qualitative with a studi pustaka (library research) approach, focusing on the monumental work Tadzkirat al-Sāmi’ wa al-Mutakallim fī Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim. The results show that Ibnu Jama’ah’s concept of education emphasizes the integration between transfer of knowledge and transfer of value, with several main elements, namely: (1) the teacher as a moral role model; (2) students who prioritize purification of the soul; (3) a curriculum that integrates spiritual values; and (4) learning methods that balance the power of memorization with intellectual creativity. The relevance of Ibnu Jama’ah’s thought to twenty-first-century education lies in the strengthening of character education, in which adab (ethics) is positioned as the main foundation before the mastery of knowledge, so that it is expected that a generation will emerge that is not only intellectually intelligent but also morally excellent.

Abstract

Ki Hajar Dewantara’s educational thought has made a fundamental contribution to shaping Indonesia’s national education system; however, studies that systematically elaborate his educational concepts from the nature and aims of education to the role of the educator and their relevance to contemporary education remain limited. This article aims to examine in depth Ki Hajar Dewantara’s concept of education, encompassing the nature of education, educational goals, the role of the educator, and its relevance to the dynamics of modern education. The study employs a library research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach to Ki Hajar Dewantara’s works and relevant supporting literature. The findings indicate that Ki Hajar Dewantara’s educational thought emphasizes a humanistic education rooted in national culture and oriented toward the liberation and holistic development of learners’ potential, thereby positioning education as a process of humanization and emancipation. These findings affirm that Ki Hajar Dewantara’s concept of education remains relevant for strengthening character, developing culture, and fostering learner autonomy within the context of contemporary national education, while also providing a philosophical foundation for formulating educational policies and practices that are more just, personality-based, and humanity-oriented.

Abstract

This study departs from the importance of applying good governance principles in the provision of public services at the subdistrict level, particularly within the PATEN program in Curug Subdistrict. It aims to analyze the implementation of the principles of transparency, accountability, responsiveness, and participation in the administration of PATEN, using Dwiyanto’s theory as the analytical framework. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the implementation of PATEN in Curug Subdistrict has proceeded reasonably well through integrated coordination, a one-stop service system, and the application of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with existing regulations. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limitations in non-ASN human resources, performance reporting that is not yet fully transparent, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and low levels of community participation in service evaluation. The study concludes that there is a need to enhance staff capacity, strengthen public information systems, improve service facilities, and develop mechanisms for community participation so that good governance principles in the administration of PATEN in Curug Subdistrict can be implemented more optimally.

Abstract

Efforts to enhance students’ active participation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Education require the use of effective cooperative learning models, one of which is Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS), whose effectiveness needs to be examined empirically. This study aimed to analyze the significant effect of implementing the TSTS cooperative learning model on students’ activeness in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education at SMP Negeri 4 Batang Anai, focusing on the extent to which the model increases students’ active participation during the learning process. A quantitative approach was employed with a one-group pretest–posttest pre-experimental design. The research population comprised all 27 students of Grade VIII 1 at SMP Negeri 4 Batang Anai, who were simultaneously taken as the sample using a total sampling technique. Data on student activeness were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 35 valid items administered at the pre-test and post-test stages. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, a homogeneity test, and a paired samples t-test. The results showed a significant increase in student activeness after the implementation of the TSTS model, with the mean activeness score rising from 137.26 in the pre-test to 155.93 in the post-test and a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. These findings indicate that the TSTS learning model has a significant effect on increasing students’ activeness in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education, particularly in terms of their ability to collaborate, active listening skills, and willingness to express opinions. The study concludes that the TSTS model is capable of creating a more dynamic, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment, fostering a shift from passive to more active and constructive learning. The implications of this research provide an important contribution for Islamic Religious Education teachers in selecting and implementing cooperative learning strategies to enhance students’ learning activeness.

Abstract

Student discipline is a crucial element in supporting the success of tahfidz Al-Qur’an programs because it requires time consistency, orderly worship, and compliance with Islamic boarding school regulations; therefore, a supervisory figure is needed to guide and oversee this discipline-building process systematically. This study aimed to describe the role of musyrif in disciplining students in tahfidzul Qur’an Islamic boarding schools and to examine the strategies and factors that influence the effectiveness of such disciplinary guidance. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data gathered through a literature review and conceptual analysis of disciplinary guidance practices in tahfidz Islamic boarding schools. The findings indicate that musyrif play strategic roles as mentors, supervisors, and role models in instilling disciplinary values through exemplification, habituation, intensive supervision, religious advice, and the provision of educational sanctions and appreciation. The success of student discipline guidance is influenced by students’ internal factors, the pesantren environment, the role-modelling of musyrif, and the institutional system and culture of discipline. The study concludes that strengthening the role of musyrif consistently and sustainably is key to shaping student discipline as an integral part of Islamic character education in tahfidz Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

INLISLite is one of the library automation systems widely used in Indonesia to improve the efficiency of library materials processing and to support modern library services; therefore, its use plays an important role in enhancing the accuracy of collection data and the speed of service delivery. This study aimed to analyze the use of INLISLite in library materials processing at the Library and Archives Office of Tanah Datar Regency based on a literature review. The study employed a literature review of two relevant journal articles published between 2021 and 2023, using content analysis to identify patterns of use, constraints, and the effectiveness of INLISLite in collection management. The findings indicate that INLISLite can improve the efficiency of collection processing, circulation services, and membership management in a faster and more organized manner. The main constraints identified include limited system updates, network integration issues, and librarians’ technical capacity, while training implementation and institutional support were shown to facilitate the optimization of system use. Overall, the study concludes that INLISLite contributes significantly to improving the quality of library materials processing and library services at the Library and Archives Office of Tanah Datar Regency, and it underscores the importance of strengthening technological infrastructure and enhancing human resource competencies to ensure the sustainability of optimal library automation system use.

Abstract

The concept of soul education (tarbiyah al-nafs) in the thought of Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah has important relevance for the development of contemporary Islamic education, particularly in responding to the moral and spiritual crises within modern educational contexts. This article aimed to examine in depth Ibn Qayyim’s concept of soul education by focusing on its theoretical foundations, educational aims, methodological framework, and implications for Islamic education. The study employed a qualitative approach through a library study by analyzing Ibn Qayyim’s major works, including Madarij al-Salikin, Ighathat al-Lahfan, Zad al-Ma‘ad, and Tuhfat al-Mawdud, as well as relevant secondary sources. The findings show that Ibn Qayyim viewed the soul as a dynamic entity that can be educated and requires an ongoing process of purification, self-regulation, and continuous cultivation through faith education, moral habituation, and spiritual practice. Soul education aims to form individuals with purified hearts, upright moral character, and awareness of their spiritual and social responsibilities. These findings affirm that Ibn Qayyim’s thought offers a holistic and integral educational approach that is relevant for addressing moral and spiritual crises in modern education, while providing a conceptual contribution to strengthening a contemporary Islamic education paradigm oriented toward character formation.

Abstract

Parental divorce can have psychological impacts on children, including emotional stress, anxiety, and difficulties in adjustment; however, some children are able to endure and develop positively through resilience. This study aimed to analyze the concept of resilience among children affected by parental divorce from the perspective of Islamic educational psychology through a literature study. The study employed a qualitative approach with a literature study design, drawing on relevant books and journal articles collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis model. The findings indicate that resilience in children affected by parental divorce is a dynamic adaptive capacity shaped by internal factors and environmental support, particularly from family and school. Education plays a strategic role in fostering resilience by providing supportive learning environments and strengthening socio-emotional skills. From the perspective of Islamic educational psychology, resilience is reinforced by spiritual values such as sabar, tawakkal, riḍā, and syukur, which help children interpret divorce as a life trial. Integrating psychological approaches with Islamic educational values forms a comprehensive framework for strengthening resilience among children affected by parental divorce and provides a conceptual basis for developing educational interventions oriented toward enhancing children’s psychological resilience.

Abstract

Marriage in Islam is a sacred bond that is not only biological and social in nature but also carries spiritual and educational dimensions; however, in practice, many young people enter marriage without adequate preparedness, leading to various household problems. This article aimed to analyze the concept of marital readiness among young people from the perspective of Islamic educational psychology. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method through analysis of primary and secondary sources, including the Qur’an, hadith, books, and relevant scholarly articles. The findings indicate that marital readiness in the perspective of Islamic educational psychology encompasses integrated psychological, emotional, social, economic, and spiritual readiness. Islamic education plays an important role in shaping personality maturity, emotional regulation, understanding of Islamic values, and awareness of moral responsibilities in married life. Thus, marital readiness is understood not merely as readiness in terms of age or material resources, but as the outcome of an ongoing process of value education. This article is expected to provide a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic educational psychology studies and to serve as a practical reference for premarital guidance and counseling for young people.Marital Readiness; Young People; Islamic Educational Psychology; Islamic Education; Premarital Guidance
