Abstract

The formation of religious and disciplined character is a primary goal of Islamic education, particularly in pesantren-based institutions, thereby requiring effective learning methods for the internalization of these values. This study aimed to describe the implementation of a teacher role-model-based learning method in adab lessons to strengthen the religious and disciplinary character of female students at MA Tahfizh Nurul Iman Karanganyar. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the implementation of teacher role modeling is manifested through teachers’ religious behavior, discipline in time management, exemplary speech, and consistency of attitude in daily teaching and learning activities. The role-modeling method proved effective in continuously strengthening the religious and disciplinary character of students, as they tend to imitate the attitudes and behaviors of teachers perceived as role models. The main supporting factor is the pesantren environment, which is conducive to the habituation of religious and disciplinary values, while the inhibiting factor lies in the diverse backgrounds of students, which influence their readiness and responses to value internalization. The study concludes that teacher role-model-based learning is a key strategy for reinforcing the religious and disciplinary character of students and offers practical implications for the development of learning practices in pesantren-based Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Character education grounded in religious values plays a strategic role in shaping students’ personalities to be faithful, pious, and of noble character; however, the challenges of globalization and the development of information technology have weakened the internalization of religious values among adolescents, particularly at the lower secondary level. This study aimed to analyze forms of strengthening religious values based on character education, the roles of teachers and school culture, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Karanganyar and SMP Negeri 2 Tasikmadu Karanganyar. A qualitative approach with a multiple case study design was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings show that the reinforcement of religious values is carried out through the integration of religious values into learning, the habituation of worship, teacher role modeling, and the development of a religious school culture, with teachers and school culture serving as key determinants of success. The study also indicates that the influence of the social environment, digital media, and time constraints constitute the main obstacles in implementing character education based on religious values. The study concludes that strengthening synergy among schools, teachers, and parents is essential to optimize the reinforcement of religious values within students’ character education at the junior secondary school level.

Abstract

Instruction in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in shaping students’ personalities to be faithful, pious, morally upright, and disciplined in everyday life, thereby requiring effective methods to internalize these values from the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level. This study aimed to describe the role of PAI teachers in implementing a habituation-based learning method to develop students’ religious and disciplinary character in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that PAI teachers act as designers of habituation programs, implementers and mentors of religious activities, behavioral role models, supervisors and evaluators, and reinforcers of character values. The forms of habituation applied include the habituation of worship, moral conduct, discipline, and responsibility. Consistent implementation of the habituation method was found to strengthen students’ religious and disciplinary character, as reflected in increased awareness of worship, adherence to rules, politeness, honesty, and responsibility. The study concludes that a habituation-based learning method supported by the active role of PAI teachers is an effective strategy for developing students’ religious and disciplinary character in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, and underscores the importance of reinforcing the teacher’s role as a model and primary driving force in value-based character education.

Abstract

This study analyzes the concept of divinity across various religious traditions and its implications for shaping the Islamic worldview. It aims to critically examine how the concept of tauhid in Islam is constructed through theological dialogue with concepts of God in other religions, and to explain its epistemological, ontological, axiological, and practical consequences for the Islamic worldview. The research employs a comparative theology approach by analyzing primary sources (the Al-Qur’an, Hadis, and the Alkitab) alongside relevant secondary literature from classical and contemporary scholars. The findings indicate that the Islamic concept of divinity, which is centered on tauhid and the declaration lā ilāha illā Allāh, is not merely a theological statement but a paradigm that structures every aspect of Muslim life, including ways of understanding reality, values, and human action. Compared with concepts of divinity in Judaism, Christianity, and Zoroastrianism, fundamental differences lie in the understanding of divine simplicity, the configuration of God’s attributes, and the relationship between divine transcendence and immanence. The implications of the Islamic concept of divinity for the worldview include: (1) affirmation of Allah’s absolute sovereignty in the creation and governance of the universe, (2) a distinct understanding of human will and destiny (qadar), (3) reinforcement of the principle of divine justice and human moral responsibility, and (4) the formulation of human life’s purpose as servants who worship sincerely. This study contributes to deepening Islamic theology and reaffirms the relevance of the Islamic concept of divinity for shaping a meaningful worldview in the context of modern life.

Abstract

Although the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model has been widely introduced in vocational education, studies that specifically analyze its effectiveness in improving student competence in the Basic Mechanical Engineering Design (PDTM) subject at vocational high schools remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning model in improving the competence of Grade X students in the Mechanical Engineering expertise program at SMK Negeri 1 Pariaman in the PDTM subject. The research employed a Classroom Action Research design implemented in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Through this approach, students were actively engaged in project-based tasks that enabled them to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. The findings showed a significant increase in students’ affective participation, psychomotor skills, and academic achievement. Quantitatively, the proportion of students achieving mastery increased from 40% in the first activity to 88.57% in the subsequent activity, while the average student score rose from 67.48 to 83.6. These results indicate that Project Based Learning is an effective instructional approach for developing students’ critical thinking, innovation, teamwork, and practical competence, thereby better preparing them to meet the demands of the modern industrial sector.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media has significantly influenced how children and adolescents obtain information, including in learning contexts beyond formal school settings; however, studies that specifically describe how children aged 13–15 use social media to search for and filter learning information in non-formal environments remain limited. This study aimed to provide an in-depth description of how children aged 13–15 utilize social media to seek and screen learning-related information. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed with participants consisting of children residing in the researcher’s neighborhood. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and observations of social media use activities, supported by relevant literature studies. The findings indicate that social media plays an important role as a source of learning information due to ease of access, speed of information retrieval, and the presentation of engaging visual content. However, children’s ability to evaluate and verify information remains limited; they tend to trust information delivered by content creators or influencers they favor without cross-checking it against other sources. These findings affirm that, although social media supports children’s learning processes, there is a need to strengthen information literacy so that children can be more critical, selective, and responsible in using social media as a source of learning.

Abstract

Although Ibn Khaldun’s educational thought has been widely discussed in various studies, research that specifically examines its relevance to modern education, particularly in the Indonesian context, remains relatively limited. This study aimed to explore in depth the educational thought of Ibnu Khaldun, describe his intellectual background, and analyze the relevance of his educational concepts to educational practice in the modern era. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed with a library research design and descriptive analysis of Ibnu Khaldun’s works and related literature. The findings show that Ibnu Khaldun’s educational thought has strong relevance to modern Islamic education, including his concept of gradual learning, which aligns with contemporary educational psychology theories; his rejection of coercion and violence, which is consistent with humanistic educational approaches; and his idea of maintaining a balance between religious sciences and rational sciences, which corresponds to the needs of Islamic education in the modern era. These findings affirm that Ibnu Khaldun’s educational thought can serve as an important reference for developing an educational paradigm that is balanced, humanistic, and contextual, while also opening opportunities for further critical exploration of the relevance and application of his ideas in today’s education systems.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis and the low ecological awareness among Muslim students require the strengthening of character education based on environmental ethics from the perspective of Islamic philosophy. By using a case study that focuses on the character education of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students, this paper investigates the epistemology of environmental ethics in Islamic philosophy. This study aims to analyze how the concept of Islamic epistemology based on wahyu (revelation), akal (reason), and experience shapes environmental ethics as part of the amanah (trust) of humans as khalifah (vicegerent) of Allah on earth. Using a qualitative case study approach at MIS Hamalatul Qur’an, Karawang, the data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis for three months, then analyzed descriptively. The results show that the integration of Islamic values such as khilafah (caliphate) and amanah into the character education curriculum can increase students’ environmental awareness and encourage behavioral changes toward more responsible behavior, for example reducing the habit of littering. Nevertheless, implementation challenges such as limited resources need to be addressed to ensure the sustainability of the program. This paper contributes to the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) by providing practical recommendations for teachers and madrasah administrators, while at the same time filling the research gap related to the epistemology of environmental ethics at the elementary education level.

Abstract

Character education in the perspective of Islamic education occupies a strategic position in shaping the personality of students with noble character, particularly in strengthening the character of discipline. One relevant approach to strengthening the character of discipline is the application of the habituation method of ibadah sunnah (non-obligatory worship), but its implementation in the institutional context of madrasah still needs to be examined in depth. This study aims to comprehensively examine the implementation of the habituation method of Monday and Thursday fasting in strengthening the character of discipline of female students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Tahfizh Nurul Iman Karanganyar. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation, which are then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the habituation of Monday and Thursday fasting is carried out in a planned, consistent, and integrated manner with the religious culture of the madrasah, and makes a real contribution to shaping the character of discipline of female students, including time discipline, obedience to rules, behavioral consistency, responsibility, and self-control. The character of discipline that is formed originates from religious awareness so that it is internal and sustainable. This study affirms that the habituation of ibadah sunnah, especially Monday and Thursday fasting, is an effective medium of character education in the context of Islamic education and is relevant to be implemented in madrasah educational institutions.

Abstract

Social identity, stereotypes, and prejudice are key concepts in social psychology that play a major role in shaping patterns of interaction between individuals and groups, and in the current context of globalization and digitalization the dynamics of group identity and the potential emergence of stereotypes and prejudice are becoming increasingly complex. This study aims to systematically examine theories of social identity, stereotypes, and prejudice and their applications in contemporary social phenomena through a literature review approach. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various relevant scientific sources on the concepts of social identity, stereotypes, and prejudice, then analyzing them by identifying the main themes, key concepts, and patterns of relationships among concepts that emerge in previous studies. The results of the review show that social identity plays an important role in forming ingroup and outgroup categories, which subsequently influence the ways individuals evaluate, treat, and interact with other groups. Further discussion reveals that stereotypes and prejudice are influenced not only by individual cognitive factors, but also by social and cultural contexts and the role of the media, especially in the era of modern social life that is strongly influenced by digital media. These findings affirm that a comprehensive understanding of theories of social identity, stereotypes, and prejudice becomes an important foundation for managing diversity and building more inclusive social relations in contemporary society.
