Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the low interest in learning among students in the subject of Islamic Cultural History, despite the fact that this phenomenon has a significant impact on education. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of the Kahoot! application on student interest in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam, SKI) in the twelfth grade at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kota Bogor. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental approach and a non-equivalent design, with a sample of 60 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a learning interest questionnaire instrument designed to measure student engagement, interest, attention, and enjoyment, and were analyzed using an independent sample t-test. The results indicate that there is a significant effect of the Kahoot! application on student interest in the SKI subject for twelfth grade at MAN 1 Kota Bogor. The main conclusion of this study is that the analysis results from the independent sample t-test using SPSS 26.0 show that Kahoot! is an effective interactive learning tool for increasing student interest, evidenced by higher evaluation scores in the experimental class. Therefore, Kahoot! is recommended as an alternative for teaching SKI as it creates a fun and engaging learning environment. The implications of this research encompass theoretical aspects, where this study contributes to strengthening the theory regarding the importance of interactive learning media in enhancing student interest, as well as practical aspects for teachers, where the use of Kahoot! can be a fun teaching strategy that improves student engagement in the classroom. These findings can serve as a basis for schools or educational institutions to integrate interactive digital media into the curriculum, especially in technology-based learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of empirical studies that discuss the existence of libraries as a fulfillment of information needs, especially in the secretariat library of the West Sumatra provincial DPRD. The purpose of this study is to describe the extent of the relationship between the Existence of Libraries and the Information Needs of Users. This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive method. The population in this study were all registered users at the Secretariat Library of the West Sumatra Provincial DPRD. Samples were taken using simple random sampling, and data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of the analysis showed that the existence of the library was in the good category with an average score of 3.01. The information needs of users were in the good category with an average score of 2.93. Based on the Pearson correlation test, it showed a positive relationship between the existence of the library and the information needs of users of 0.643, including in the interval scale of 0.60-0.799. This shows that the existence of the library has a significant relationship with the information needs of users. These results emphasize that the existence of libraries has a direct influence on the information needs of users, especially institutional libraries where users are members of the institution who have jobs in certain categories.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the conceptual understanding of Science and Social Studies (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial or IPAS) among sixth-grade students at SDN Demangan Kudus through the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach within the context of differentiated instruction. The background of this research is the low level of conceptual understanding of IPAS and the gap in students’ initial abilities and basic literacy due to the use of a uniform instructional model. The method used was classroom action research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, with 15 students as subjects. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed a gradual improvement in conceptual mastery of IPAS, increasing from 46.66% in the pre-cycle to 73.33% in the first cycle, and further to 80% in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the application of the TaRL approach in differentiated instruction effectively addresses students’ learning needs more accurately. The conclusion of this study is that instructional strategies tailored to students’ individual skill levels can significantly enhance conceptual understanding of IPAS at the elementary level and contribute to the development of more inclusive and adaptive learning models.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on modified pencil lead electrodes in electrochemical detection, despite their significant potential as simple, low-cost, and environmentally friendly heavy metal sensors. The aim of this research is to evaluate the performance of MnO₂/pencil lead electrode (MnO₂/PLE) with variations in pencil hardness—2B, B, and HB—in detecting K₃[Fe(CN)₆] and Pb²⁺ ions using cyclic voltammetry. The electrodes were modified using the drop-casting method, and voltammogram data were analyzed based on current and redox potential values. The results show that MnO₂/PLE (2B) demonstrated the best performance among the variants. This is attributed to the synergy between the electrocatalytic properties of MnO₂ and the high graphite content of the 2B pencil, which enhances conductivity and electrochemical response. MnO₂/PLE (2B) proved effective in detecting Pb²⁺ ions, making it a strong candidate for use as an electrochemical heavy metal sensor. The implications of this study contribute to the literature on modified carbon-based sensors and open opportunities for the development of portable, low-cost sensors for environmental monitoring.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of physical fitness as a primary requirement in the selection and training process for prospective members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), given that these professions demand optimal physical and mental readiness. The aim of this study is to examine the implementation of physical fitness tests in supporting the training process for TNI and Polri candidates in the Magelang region. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through interviews, direct observation, and documentation studies at local physical training institutions. The findings indicate that the implementation of physical fitness tests using computer vision and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in Magelang has followed standard procedures, including the 12-minute run, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and shuttle run. However, challenges remain, such as limited training facilities, a shortage of certified trainers, and low participant awareness of maintaining fitness outside of training hours. Continuous training has proven effective in improving participants' physical endurance, discipline, and mental preparedness. The computer vision- and IoT-based system demonstrated a very high correlation with manual results (r > 0.95), confirming its validity as a physical evaluation tool. In conclusion, the implementation of this technology plays a vital role in supporting physical training in the digital era, particularly in shaping character, physical resilience, and mental readiness of future soldiers and police officers. The study recommends improving facilities, increasing the number of certified trainers, and strengthening systematic training programs for more optimal training outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of using Wordwall games to enhance fourth-grade elementary school students' understanding of ratio concepts. A one-group pretest-posttest design was implemented involving 19 participants. Data were gathered through pretest and posttest assessments administered before and after the instructional intervention utilizing Wordwall games. The results of the paired samples t-test revealed a statistically significant improvement in students' performance, with pretest scores (M = 42.63, SD = 11.349) substantially lower than posttest scores (M = 80.79, SD = 9.319), t(18) = -29.806, p < .001. Additionally, Pearson correlation analysis indicated a strong and significant positive relationship between pretest and posttest scores (r = 0.872, p < .001), suggesting consistency in learning gains. These findings demonstrate that integrating gamified learning tools such as Wordwall games can effectively support students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts, particularly ratios. The study underscores the pedagogical value of gamification in elementary mathematics education, offering both cognitive and motivational benefits that contribute to improved learning outcomes.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities play a crucial role in developing students' character and potential; however, their management, which remains manual in many schools, including SMA Negeri 9 Padang, results in inefficiency and susceptibility to errors. This study aims to design and develop a web-based extracurricular activity management information system to enhance management effectiveness. The method used is Rapid Application Development (RAD), consisting of the stages of requirement planning, system design, and implementation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document studies, while system performance testing was conducted using GTmetrix. The system was developed using the CodeIgniter framework and MySQL database. Testing results showed excellent system performance with a GTmetrix Grade A, high page load speed (Performance 98%), and efficient code structure (Structure 92%). All Web Vitals metrics were within the "good" category, including FCP (878 ms), LCP (934 ms), TTI (878 ms), and CLS (0.02). Additionally, the system demonstrated high efficiency based on Waterfall Chart analysis of page elements. This study concludes that the developed information system successfully automates extracurricular activity management, meets high web performance standards, provides an optimal user experience, and supports digital transformation in secondary education management.

Abstract

The manual inventory management system in schools presents various challenges, such as low efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in asset recording and reporting. This study aims to design and implement a web-based School Inventory Management Information System at SMA Negeri 6 Solok Selatan to support more effective and systematic inventory data management. Employing the Waterfall software development method and the Unified Modeling Language (UML) approach, the system was designed based on data collected through user observation and interviews, and functionally tested. The system was developed using the Laravel framework, PHP programming language, and MySQL database. The results show that the system successfully digitizes the entire process of inventory recording, storage, monitoring, and reporting. Features such as data search, asset grouping, and periodic reports facilitate inventory teachers in performing their tasks more efficiently and accurately. Moreover, the system enhances transparency and accountability in school asset management. In conclusion, the implementation of this information system significantly contributes to improving the quality of inventory management and is recommended as a digital solution for other schools facing similar challenges.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the implementation of interactive and innovative learning media that are contextually grounded and culturally responsive in Pancasila Education at the elementary school level, despite the significant impact such approaches have on student engagement and learning outcomes. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of using the Peta Keberagaman Budaya Indonesia (TAMAN BUDI) media in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of diversity as a strength. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a descriptive quantitative design, conducted in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 26 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 060913 Medan, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and testing, analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. The results show a significant increase in student activity from 65.61% in Cycle I to 80.11% in Cycle II, and mastery of learning outcomes improved from 54% to 65%. The average class score also rose from 66.96 to 80.38. These findings support constructivist theory and Culturally Responsive Teaching, both of which emphasize active student engagement and the relevance of local context in learning. In conclusion, TAMAN BUDI media is effective in enhancing learning outcomes and fostering students’ appreciation of Indonesia’s cultural diversity. The implications include a theoretical contribution to the literature on local wisdom-based media and practical recommendations for teachers to optimize contextual media for more meaningful Pancasila Education. This study also opens opportunities for further exploration across different subjects and educational levels.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the characteristics of early grade students who tend to be energetic and physically active, often resulting in a less conducive classroom atmosphere. The aim of this research is to improve the learning outcomes of Class 1B students at SD Negeri 060913 Medan on the topic “The Importance of Gotong Royong” through the application of the innovative learning media Koyong (Kotak Gotong Royong). This study is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) using the Kemmis and Taggart model, conducted in two cycles during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, involving 23 students as subjects. Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests and observations of student and teacher activities. The results show that prior to the intervention, only 61% of students achieved mastery learning, while after the implementation of the Koyong media in Cycle II, mastery increased to 87%. This improvement is attributed to the use of concrete, interactive, and enjoyable media, which enhanced students' motivation, engagement, and understanding of gotong royong (collective work practice) values. In conclusion, the Koyong media is effective in creating a conducive learning environment and improving student learning outcomes, while also fostering positive attitudes and social values from an early age. The implications of this study highlight the importance of using creative and contextual learning media by teachers to support character development in elementary education.
