Abstract

Although multicultural education based on local culture is an important issue at the national and international levels, there are still gaps in its implementation. The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in approaches to multicultural education at the national and global levels and to emphasize the difficulties and opportunities associated with implementing this approach. Relevant national and international journals were analyzed to conduct a literature study. Data were analyzed qualitatively using a comparative method after being collected from various scientific articles. The results of the study indicate that the global approach emphasizes more on experience-based education and interculturalism, while the national approach tends to incorporate local cultural values into the school curriculum. This tendency is a form of adaptation and contextualization of multicultural education rooted in the socio-cultural context. On the other hand, policies, synergies, assumptions, cultural dominance, and antipathy towards curriculum adaptation/adjustment are problems in optimizing multicultural education. Although there are still problems in its implementation, in several studies multiculturalism has been shown to increase understanding of cultural differences, strengthen inclusivity, and create social harmony if supported by strong policies and effective learning approaches. To address the dynamics of diversity in the era of globalization, this study offers insights to educators, policymakers, and academics to build a more inclusive and locally-based education system.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic factors that influence bad loans at Bank BTN KC Tasikmalaya and their impact on the formation of (CKPN). The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The source of the research is through observation and interviews with banks and debtors. The results of the study show that the economic factors that cause bad loans at Bank BTN KC Tasikmalaya range from very influential to not very influential. These factors include consumptive lifestyle patterns, online lending, online gambling, and the Covid-19 pandemic. This is due to unexpected changes in income or expenses, other loans or online loans, Covid-19 and online gambling, the ease of the application process, then finally shopping habits or consumptive lifestyles. Many customers are stuck in debt with high interest rates through other loans, causing difficulties in meeting credit installment payments. Meanwhile, the Covid-19 that has lasted for the past few years has worsened economic conditions, decreased income, and layoffs, increasing the number of bad loans. The impact of this increase in non-performing loans requires banks to increase the formation of CKPN to anticipate the potential for greater losses. This study suggests that Bank BTN KC Tasikmalaya take a better approach in managing credit risk, taking into account economic factors that affect customer behavior. In addition, banks can strengthen financial education for customers to prevent bad loans caused by consumptive lifestyle factors and online lending.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limited systematic studies that discuss the relationship between reading interest and science literacy skills in the context of biology learning, despite the significant impact this phenomenon has on the achievement of students' 21st-century competencies. The purpose of this study is to identify, evaluate, and synthesize relevant research findings on the relationship between reading interest and students' science literacy. The method employed was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using a descriptive qualitative approach. This review analyzed 15 scientific articles published between 2013 and 2024, selected based on topic-specific inclusion criteria, methodological quality, and relevance to the context of biology education. Data were analyzed using thematic synthesis in accordance with the PRISMA protocol. The results indicated that reading interest has a positive and significant correlation with science literacy; however, this relationship is enhanced by mediating factors such as the quality of reading materials, literacy-based learning models, the role of teachers, and digital literacy. These findings support the scientific literacy approach in biology learning and contribute to the theoretical framework regarding the integration of affective and cognitive dimensions in science education. The primary conclusion of this study is that enhancing students' science literacy should involve increasing their interest in reading, selecting relevant teaching materials, and providing adaptive pedagogical and technological support. The implications of this study include the development of literate learning strategies in schools, the formulation of context-based literacy policies, and opportunities for further research on digital literacy and family involvement in strengthening the reading culture.

Abstract

Chromium (VI) ions are recognized for their toxicity, mutagenicity, and carcinogenic properties, posing significant risks to both human health and the environment. This study aims to optimize the conditions of supporting electrolytes for the electrochemical detection of Cr(VI) ions using a Pencil Lead Electrode (PLE) modified with a thin layer of silver (Ag/PLE). Employing cyclic voltammetry, we investigated the modification of the PLE and analyzed the effects of varying supporting electrolytes on the detection sensitivity of Cr(VI) ions. Our findings indicate that a 0.1 M HNO3 solution serves as the optimal supporting electrolyte, with oxidation and reduction potentials recorded at +1.4287 V and +0.3906 V, respectively. The observed differences in the sensitivity of Cr(VI) detection can be attributed to the varying diffusion rates of the analyte across the electrode surface. This study presents a straightforward, sensitive, and cost-effective electrochemical method for detecting Cr(VI) ions, offering significant implications for environmental monitoring and public health safety. By enhancing detection methodologies, this research contributes to the broader discourse on mitigating the adverse effects of hazardous metal ions in ecological systems.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of Tuberculosis (TB) that is spreading and rampant in the community, including in Wonosari sub-district. The purpose of this study is to analyze the spread of TB cases in Wonosari District using a spatial approach. This study used medical record data from tuberculosis patients treated at the Wonosari Public Health Center over a certain period. The analysis methods used were Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) to evaluate the spatial distribution pattern of TB cases, and Moran's Index to identify the presence of spatial autocorrelations in the spread of cases. The results of the analysis showed that TB cases in Wonosari City had an ANN of less than 1, indicating that TB cases were clustered patterns. Based on the results of Moran's I Global analysis for TB cases, a p-value greater than 0.05 indicates that this distribution pattern occurs by chance and does not reflect a real spatial correlation. The ANN of health care facilities in Wonosari City is above 1 and a positive z-score which indicates that health facilities tend to be more dispersed. The conclusion of this analysis provides an important picture of the distribution of diseases and health facilities in Wonosari City, which can be the basis for more effective public health intervention planning. With the use of spatial medical record data, it is hoped that efforts to control tuberculosis in Wonosari District can be improved. The implications of this research are expected to be one of the solutions for local governments and public knowledge about understanding the spread of TB cases. This research also opens up opportunities for further studies, especially examining the factors and causes of tuberculosis in this region.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of epistemological crises in modern science that tend to be secular and materialistic, and independent of spiritual values. This has created a disorientation in education and the development of Islamic civilization. This research aims to examine in depth the integrative concept of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas regarding the relationship between Islam and science as a solution to the dysfunction between science and religion. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach through library research, with content analysis techniques on Al-Attas's main works as well as relevant secondary literature. The results of the study show that Al-Attas rejects the dichotomy between science and religion and proposes the Islamization of science as an epistemological transformation process rooted in the principle of monotheism. Science in Islam is not neutral, but has an ethical and spiritual orientation that leads to the knowledge of God and the formation of adabi people. The conclusion of this study is that Al-Attas' thought makes a significant contribution to building an integrative, holistic, and civilized paradigm of Islamic science. Implicitly, this thinking is very relevant to develop an Islamic education system that not only produces knowledgeable people, but also moral and civilized people in facing the challenges of globalization and secularization of science.
