Abstract

Elementary school students often encounter difficulties in learning fraction concepts, particularly in understanding the ideas and computational procedures related to mixed fractions. This study aims to identify the factors influencing mathematics learning difficulties in the topic of fractions among fifth-grade students at SDN Dupak 1 Surabaya. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving thirty students and one classroom teacher as research subjects. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that 73.3% of students scored below the Minimum Mastery Criterion (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal, KKM) of 70. These difficulties are attributed to external factors such as monotonous teaching methods, an unsupportive learning environment, and limited engaging instructional media. Additionally, internal factors such as low learning motivation and weak foundational understanding of fraction concepts were found to be major contributors. The study concludes that innovative teaching strategies, the provision of engaging learning resources, and a supportive learning environment are essential for improving students’ understanding of fractions. These findings offer theoretical contributions to the study of mathematics learning difficulties at the elementary level and provide practical implications for teachers and educational institutions in designing more effective interventions.

Abstract

The rising global demand for energy, particularly from fossil fuel sources, has triggered an energy crisis that necessitates the exploration of alternative solutions. One promising effort is the utilization of renewable energy in the form of biogas, which can be produced from agricultural waste such as sugarcane bagasse and livestock waste such as horse manure. This study aims to analyze the effects of horse manure and the EM-4 biostarter on the quality of the biogas produced. An experimental method was employed using a batch-type digester reactor with three different feedstock compositions: 50% sugarcane bagasse (SB):50% horse manure (HM), 40%SB:60%HM, and 30%SB:70%HM. The parameters observed included initial and final pH, gas pressure, gas temperature, and flame color testing. The results show that the addition of EM-4 biostarter accelerates the gas formation process, yields higher gas pressure, and improves the overall quality of the biogas. Moreover, increasing the proportion of horse manure enhances the decomposition of sugarcane fibers, leading to greater gas volume production. The study concludes that the optimal combination of horse manure and EM-4 biostarter is effective in improving both the quality and quantity of biogas, while supporting waste utilization as a renewable energy source. The practical implications of these findings emphasize the importance of managing the digester environment safely to prevent leakage and external disturbances during biogas production.

Abstract

Student learning interest, particularly among Generation Z, tends to be low due to teaching methods that are often unengaging and not fully aligned with the characteristics of a generation raised in a digital ecosystem. This generation demonstrates a strong preference for visual content, rapid access to digital information, and an independent, interactive learning style. This study aims to explore the use of posters as an innovative learning medium suited to the traits of Generation Z. A descriptive qualitative method was employed using a case study approach, based on a literature review from various relevant journals. The findings indicate that posters function not only as visual aids but also as creative media capable of linking students’ learning needs with instructional goals. When used effectively, posters foster active student engagement and enhance material comprehension through visualization. The study concludes that teachers need to improve their competencies in designing innovative visual media that are relevant to technological advancements. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of supporting teachers in developing adaptive, visual-based learning strategies to address the educational challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

This study is driven by the growing trend of educational institutions becoming publicly listed in Indonesia, highlighting the urgent need for a deeper understanding of financial health within this evolving sector. Focusing on PT Idea Indonesia Akademi Tbk, a pioneering public company in Indonesia’s education industry, this research analyzes its financial performance using a comprehensive financial ratio approach. Drawing on audited financial statements from fiscal years 2023 and 2024, the study examines four core categories of financial ratios: liquidity, solvency, activity, and profitability. Employing a qualitative descriptive-comparative methodology, the research aims to provide insights into the company’s financial dynamics during its post-IPO period. The findings show marked improvements in liquidity and capital structure, as reflected in higher current and quick ratios, an increased equity-to-asset ratio, and reduced debt levels. Conversely, profitability metrics, including Net Profit Margin, Return on Assets, and Return on Equity declined, indicating challenges in cost efficiency and revenue optimization. While inventory turnover improved substantially, a drop in receivable turnover suggests weaknesses in credit management. These mixed outcomes point to a strategic prioritization of financial stability, albeit at the expense of operational profitability. The study contributes to the limited literature on financial performance in the education sector, offering practical implications for investors, corporate management, and policymakers seeking to strengthen financial decision-making within publicly listed educational institutions in emerging markets.
